Oh this place is wonderful! I got the chorizo breakfast burrito and hubby got the carne asada quesadilla with beans and rice. First off, the chips and salsa were really good. The green salsa was fabulous with so much flavor and the red salsa had a fabulous bite to it. Then our entrees arrived and my mouth has been sooooo Happy ever since. We just finished our take out meal from Los Pinos. It was terrible. Everything was cold and greasy like it was made the day before perhaps. My order was not ready even though I ordered it two hours early. I had to show them on my phone the order. While I waited for my order, I noticed it was not as clean as the last time I was there. We travel in an RV and after a long day decided to eat out. Looked on line at most all of the restaurants in Mountain Home. We chose Los Pino Mexican restaurant. When we entered there was only one customer. There was also only one young man cooking, serving an busing tables. It took some time for him to take our order and even longer to be served. However, it didnt matter. The food was as good as or better than any we have had in the past 3 years. Smothered Pork Burrito was excellent. It was all well worth waiting for. Went at lunch for first time with my wife - there was only two other people in the place - ordered their supreme nachos (heard they were good ) after our order it took 15 minutes to get our drink - waited 50 minutes and still no nachos so went to the counter and asked for it to go (we were both on lunch break ) - another 15 minutes and we finnaly got them - my wife opened it up while we were driving back to work and they were soggy like they were tan used water or were hot and sat in closed container for length of time...my best advice would be to just drive on by ...wasn't like they were short staffed either ‍ read more

We were super happy with our burritos and tacos (and we're Mexican food snobs from Southern CA) Breakfast burrito was great, chicken burrito was moist and crispy, street tacos were yummy. There have been many times we've gone here and our food was great but the kids menu food items have always been unacceptable to say the least. Two times we've gotten chicken nuggets undercooked and mini corn dogs burnt to a crisp. Well tonight we got our daughter chicken nuggets and fries. She is now very sick and throwing up all night. I dream about this place. I lived in mountain home about three years ago and I swear I would eat here weekly. Who would've thought that the best Mexican food I've ever had would be in a small town in Idaho. Their hot salsa is so good I could just drink it. I would always order their smothered beef burrito and it got better every single time. Chips were PERFECT. Rice was PERFECT. Their beans were to die for. I miss this place more than anything and I wish they would deliver all the way to Kansas. I would drive 22 hours just for this food. read more

Took about 10 minutes after sitting down for our server to finally come take our order and give our group of 12 only 3 small baskets of chips (which were kind of stale) with 6 little bowls of salsa and 3 little bowls of cheesy beans. The green salsa was the best, the red was spicy and lacking flavor and the cheesey beans were great. I ordered the smothered burrito and it was about a 4 star on taste and 3 star on size. I also order the horchata but it was brown colored instead of the creamy white which threw me off a bit. Then I tasted it and it was a 2 star on taste at best. I've had authentic horchata in Mexico and this was not it on flavor, texture or look. We waited around another 15 minutes after finishing our food having never received our check so I went up and rang the bell to get our server to check us out and settle payment. Would not recommend this place in it's current status but they can learn and improve as I hope they do. read more

We ordered 2 chancla burritos, 1 with sour cream one with sour cream on the side, we got the side but the other burrito didnt get any! I also asked for onions which they said would be extra I said ok! No onions anywhere! When I went to pick up my order I asked for a couple little containers of green sauce they said its .75 cents, keep in mind my order came to $35.00 ! I personally Love eating food from here. I've Never had a problem with service or food and order from them 2-3 times a week usually, especially with the "Virus Scare". They've kept me fed. My favorites are the Steak Fajitas and Stuffed Burrito, but even astheir American dishes are good. Only thing I don't like is their hamburgers use to be 100% beef and now it's obvious they're pre-made store bought that aren't pure beef. As traveling down to Mountain Home from Boise, there was traffic both directions. It was over 1 1/2 hours of stop and go. This is not a norm for Idaho. There was not any plans stopping for dinner, but the best way to kill time is to eat. I did not want to be stuck in the traffic on the way back to Boise. The family went with the majority choice, and that was Mexican. So I "yelped" Mexican Food. I ignored any chain restaurants. Los Pinos caught my eye. When we parked the car, the place looked questionable. I promise you, take the risk. This place is awesome. The handmade chips are crispy and not salty. The red salsa has a nice heat and smokiness to it. The refried beans are creamy and not watered down. The green salsa (salsa verde) has a fresh and cooling taste and the perfect amount of seasoning. Their chorizo has a great texture and a perfect spiciness to it. I had the shredded beef smothered burrito. The flour tortilla was soft and the shredded beef was juicy and tender. The iceberg lettuce was cold and gave a nice crunch to the burrito. The spice in the red sauce was a perfect balance of flavor and spice. The shredded beef is slow roasted to perfection in its juices. The reason that I did not give Los Pinos five stars is because their fish tacos come with a red sauce. I prefer white sauces. read more

So it was absolutely a terrible night there tonight. A table that arrived after us received their drink order and drinks before us. After we finally had our order taken my girlfriend ordered double rice no beans. Her order came with beans and rice. Her dinner was also so salty it was not edible. When we complained to our server she responded with "Oh Sorry and walked away". I also ordered a dinner to go with double beans no rice. When we opened it up at home it had beans and rice. Let me start by saying that I would give this zero stars if I could! Worst dining experience!!! The food was actually very good, but the service and outcome of our experience ruined the entire thing for me. My family and I ate here because I had purchased a certificate on restaurant.com. I purchased this because it was the only restaurant in Mountain Home that was a valid participating one in this town. This was a bonus for us because we don't always want to drive to Boise to eat out. After eating, my husband gave the waitress, Danielle our certificate. Before she even glanced at it for a few seconds she so rudely stated, "We don't accept those." What do you mean you don't accept them? The certificate clear as day states that it is valid at Los Pinos Restaurant, 815 S 3rd W, Mountain Home, ID 83647. We were told by this rude waitress and Ines, an owner who doesn't know how to run a business, that they have no idea how the restaurant got on that site and they've been "trying" to get it taken down. I asked them if either of them have called the phone number for restaurant.com and spoken with someone. Here's the kicker: NO THEY HAD NOT! They also stated that I wasn't the first to come in with one of these certificates. So they supposedly have been trying to get this restaurant taken down for over a year, but have not actually talked to anyone to do so. This whole thing was outrageous. The staff's behavior was ridiculous. If a customer comes into your place of business with a certificate that has your business name on it then you should honor it. Their attitude was extremely poor and I hope they do something to clear this up in the future. I suggested for them to put a sign on their door stating that restaurant.com certificates would not be accepted even if they're valid and the response I got back was, "Well we used to have one on the counter." Okay, but clearly that hasn't helped. First, the sign isn't there anymore and second, you're still having this problem so DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT! The owner went on to tell me that she works 14 hours a day and the meat is so expensive. Great, but that doesn't do anything to help your business. If you're going to run a business, you need to learn to serve your customers. If someone went into a store with a gift certificate and then was told they couldn't use it, I guarantee that would cause problems. Well this is the same concept. If this problem has been ongoing for over a year, the owner is clearly not trying hard enough to get it taken care of. And then telling me that I just wasted my money on the certificate because she refused to authorize it was icing on the cake, really. Horrible, horrible service. The owner and staff are a complete joke. I would not be surprised if this eventually went out of business. The only reason I could see it staying afloat is because Mountain Home is a hole that doesn't really have a lot else to offer. I would give this place zero stars if I could. read more
