The second time, there was a large, Hispanic woman coughing repeatedly without a mask or covering! I advised my daughter and son in law to go elsewhere. They excused the woman's behavior saying it was probably allergies. So we stayed, against my better judgment. The next morning I awoke with a severe sore throat and a fever !!! The HEALTH DEPARTMENT needs to take notice as well. El Tapatio's ice machine needs to be inspected as does their wait staff.

The Gold Margarita was great! A little strong but that's how I like them. I had the Mr. Taco Sampler which comes with (2) Small quesadillas, (2) small flautas, (4) nachos, (2) street tacos. It was decent but nothing that stood out. The highlight was that we were able to take margaritas to go!

We were presented with red warm salsa, which I love it when a salsa is served warm and a creamy tomatillo green sauce as well. Both were very flavorful, but not overpowering with heat which I loved we could've had a bowl of each for each of us. Service was attentive without being overpowering because when perusing their large menu, I could not decide what I wanted to try because I wanted a little bit of everything. Our waters and chips were so very promptly after being seated. I finally decided on the specialty dinner number two I believe, which was served with a crunchy beef taco that was filled with an enormous amount of seasoned ground beef and the lettuce and tomato on the side so you could stuff it yourself. It also came with a cheese puff with some yummy yellow queso, and then a side warm plate was a cheese enchilada that was served hot and bubbly. All the flavors were so fresh and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. My husband had the taco plate, which was also with three seasoned ground beef tacos that were filled very heavily with the lettuce and tomato and cheese on the side has came with rice and beans and he devoured his plate. I'd say he'd liked it. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant itself has plenty of seeing nothing out of the ordinarily spectacular about the vibe. They do have what appeared to be a large room that is separate. Maybe that could be reserved for groups for a mid afternoon Saturday they had several tables that were filled lots of free parking available on site. It's worth the drive to check it out. We will be back so we can try other menu items.

I'm not in Downtown Conroe often, but on this specific day, I was actually in the area for jury duty. So this was my morning: -Show up to the courthouse, assuming I would be sent home within minutes. -Hearing my name called 7th in a room of about 200 people. -Moving to the official jury selection room with 30 people. -Being chosen for the 6 person jury. -Hearing the opening statements from both sides. -Breaking for lunch and walking to Carmelitas. What a day, right? But onto the food: When I initially walked in, I was told I could take part in the lunch buffet for $13. They showed me what it consisted of, and while it was tempting, I really just wanted to order fajitas, and fajitas were not amongst the many options in the buffet. I also ordered some chips and queso, mostly so that I could throw some queso in with my fajitas. I was really surprised how much I liked it. The fajitas didn't come out sizzling, and this was a very small operation, so I just kind of figured it would be "fine," but unremarkable. But here's the reality: it was all really good and there was a LOT of fajita meat on the plate. My three tortillas were all absolutely stuffed. And the fajitas were only $17.99. If you go to some of the bigger chains, the price will be 2x that at minimum and you're definitely getting a lot less meat. Another nice touch was that the pico and cheese came in an edible soft taco casing, that was actually awesome to not only hold said items, but also to eat. I definitely plan to return with my wife and can't recommend Carmelitas enough!
