    Macha Breakfast Plate
    Jack M.

I enjoyed a great breakfast plate of Machaca from this Mexican eatery in Casa de Oro, located in Spring Valley. It use to be La Baja Mexican Grill, and has been rebranded as "Los Mexas." The machaca breakfast plate came with rice, beans, and four corn tortillas for $11.99 plus tax. It was a large portion of machaca and it was very tasty. The stewed shredded beef was well seasoned. The eggs were scrambled into the beef and I could not help my self to making breakfast tacos. I tried a trio of hot sauces and they were all very good. I liked the dark red one the best It had good heat and favor. The rice and beans were good, too but were more subtle in flavor. The beans were light in seasoning and the rice was just right. The service was good. It was a one man team when I came in the morning, but the young man made it work. He was friendly, efficient, and check on me to make sure I enjoyed the food. The place offers a bar as well with plenty of inside seating, but no outside seating.

Ordered the machaca breakfast burrito and it was delicious! I love coming here for their burritos. I found this place randomly and i'm so glad I decided to give it a try. My boyfriend had their machaca burrito as well and he enjoyed it along with their salsa selections. I also tried something new on my most recent visit which was the menudo soup. I loved the meat, but the soup wasn't so flavorful in my opinion. The restaurant is spacious and always plenty of seating when i've come by. The service could be a little better in terms of being more welcoming as you walk in though. Overall, great breakfast burrito joint!

When I came in during a weekday, I will admit, it was empty. However, ordering was so simple and very quick! They have a nice open bar on the left side when you walk in, which looks like it would be completely full when there's a game on! I was pleasantly happy when I talked with the guy at the front because when I picked up my food, he asked if it was my first time there. I confirmed and had said that I heard great things about this place - which was true, especially just by looking at the reviews! Because of this, the cashier gave me one of the desserts as complimentary! It was delicious - almost like a churro but in chip form! I ordered the adobada and birria tacos as well as the cheese quesadilla! The adobada tacos were pretty good - I've been trying to find something similar to the ones at tacos el gordo, and can say that they're a bit similar especially with the sauce it has on top. Birria tacos were pretty good according to my dad - they were very filling and the birria sauce to dip the tacos in was pretty flavorful! Cheese quesadilla was just as simple as they can be, nothing really to rave for with this one. Overall, I would come back and maybe try some of the other popular items I see on this page! :)

The fish taco was amazing. Very delicious and fresh tasting from the sauce and the cabbage. The fish had a nice crunch and neutral taste. I enjoyed the flavor of the 3 fresh house salsas. The green one was savory, the red was a savory spicy, and the orange one for an acidic spice. We also got the adobada burrito. It was huge for just $11.99! Meat, guacamole, onions, (and cilantro). No extra fillers. The adobada was nicely charred and sweet. It reminded me a bit of char siu compared to other places I've had adobada. We only interacted with our cashier during our time there, and he was friendly and helpful. The dining area and restroom were both very clean and there are a lot of open tables for seating. The prices here are great and you get a lot in return. The taco is $4.99 on regular days, but only $1.50 on Tuesdays. I'll be coming back to take advantage of that and trying more of their meats.

If you like tacos, come here period exclamation point period. Had a trio (carne, carnitas, adobada) my first time. Incredible. Couldn't decide which was best. They bring you a trio of these little house made hot sauce bottles that are each some of the best sauces I've ever had. Second time I got all adobada ($1.50 special, I'm cheap‍), top 5 I've ever had. Today I got a fish and again it was one of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The staff is SUPER friendly and hospitable. Trust me, just come in and get a taco, doesn't matter which one, you will buy another immediately.

Great local business. Staff is super friendly. The adobada, birria, and pollo asada are on-point! Not listed on the menu board, but you can get 3 street tacos for $8.50. Great deal. Breakfast burritos are huge. Nice little dining area for lunch!

Food is delicious. Service is great, great ambience. I've tried almost everything here, from menudo, caldo de res, roll tacos, carne asada fries, burritos, fajitas, you name it, I've tried it. Micheladas, amazing! You cannot go wrong with this place. You will love it. I guarantee it.

Great spot! The inside is really nice and inviting. We didn't try any drinks this time, but the bar area looked great--perfect setup with TVs for watching sports. The food was excellent! We had a carne asada burrito and a bean & cheese burrito--both were delicious, super generous portions, and the prices were very reasonable. Loved that it came with chips and salsa too. Definitely want to come back for Taco Tuesday!

Really great little gem. Nice interior, delicious food, even a fun little bar with good prices and frozen beer mugs. Staff were friendly and inviting. Good salsa and hot sauces.

Well, the lobby was packed and about a dozen people were waiting for their pre-ordered wings. They were running about 30 minutes late on all pre- orders and pick up orders. The customers were polite and patient for the most. Behind the counter were two ladies working like crazy, organizing orders and maintaining their composure in a crisis type setting. Dozens of orders were being packed, just coming out of the kitchen piping hot. Behind them, five cooks were moving quickly, smoothly and non-stop. Food was flying! Shouting in Chinese and working like they have done this the entire lives. It's was like something out of a movie. It's very typical no matter where you pick up wings on New Year's Eve. It's always an extra half to full hour wait. And, why were all of the customers so patient. I think it's because everyone knows that Golden Bay puts out the most incredible wings on the planet! As we unveiled our big box of wings at the party, a mob started to form. The word spread and soon the wings were gone. All of our friends wanted to know where we got the wings. It was a moment of pleasure for my wife and I seeing our friends got nuts over those wings. In the drive home, my wife told me that the wait was worth it. Next year we will need to order 100. And, maybe some salt and pepper shrimp! We eat at Golden Bay at least once a week as their food is always fresh, hot and made to order. Maya and Teresa run the front of the house and even during a chaotic moment they held their composure and were as sweet as ever. By writing this, I risk even a longer wait next News Year's Eve. But, it's worth it. Happy New Year to the most extraordinary crew at Golden Bay.

I was a bit hesitant to try this place because I love chinese food and lately its just been hit or miss. Also, sushi/chinese can sometimes be not what you expect. ANYWAY, let me go back to my experience with Ayumi. Small cozy restaurant that has about 8-10 tables. Its apparent they do a lot of take out. It's in a small plaza but there is plenty of parking. You're greeted warmly when going inside, and there's an A-Frame in the front that tells you the daily special. The pictures here on yelp and google helped a lot in making my food decisions. I love my orange chicken not too much breading, and an even sauce to nugget ratio. Some of the other chinese restaurants in the immediate area are wayyyy too saucy or too breaded. I chose the Sweet & Pungent chicken, bc that sounded good ... boy it did not disappoint. It came out on a bed of crispy noodles and steamed broccoli. The pieces were evenly sauced and sticky the way I love it ... so I can only imagine the orange chicken, sweet and sour, and whatever else is fried will be decent. Definitely coming back just for this. My bf had the kung pao trio, and it was probably the most decent I've had in a while. The prices are reasonable for the area for the sushi, the chinese food, and even the beverages (some places be gouging for beer), and I'm going to be trying this place out for the lunch specials which is always a good combo of entree, appetizer, and drink. 5 stars for the chinese food, Can't wait to try the sushi next time.

The menu is very diverse, but don't let it scare you, they do both Chinese food and Sushi with some asian fusion dishes as well. We stuck with the sushi but I definitely want to come back and try the Chinese food. The sushi was legit, quality and fresh ingredients and great flavor combos. We had 3 orders of rolls, a sake, and I had a glass of chardonnay. The wine is VERY reasonable here, $5.99 a glass! Those are happy hour prices ALL day long.. It's not a fancy glass of chard, but it paired perfectly with the sushi. Service was good, fast at first, slowed down a bit when they got busy but we never had to wait too long! The rolls were delicious, we had the Las Vegas roll, which was crunchy fried deliciousness, the jalapeño was on the top so if you wanted it less spicy you just took it off. I didn't think it was too spicy even with the topping. We also had the citrus and gold dust roll. The citrus roll was definitely zesty and spicy, for those who like spice! The gold dust roll was PERFECT, it was my favorite. It had a little crunch inside of it and it wasn't too spicy. Definitely will be reordering that one.
