This is the single best taqueria in Oklahoma City hands down. I've been coming here since 2007 and the food remains top tier. Service is excellent and the restaurant itself is always clean. Staff is welcoming and fast to serve. It gets busy at lunchtime but if you're here later in the day there is very little wait. Horchata is fresh daily and served chilled. Where to begin? My dad used to take me here when I was a kid, and we lovingly referred to this place as "The Big Burrito" because we always got the #12 burrito and it was so huge that we could share it between 2-3 people. It's been over 15 years since I last had this burrito, but it never left my mind. I feel as though I've spent my life searching for something comparable to Los Comales, but to no avail. After finally finding the real name of the restaurant, I decided it was time to see if it was as good as I remember. You order from the extensive menu at the counter, and pick a place to sit. The service was very kind and quick, it did not take long for the food to come out. I ordered the #12 burrito, a carnitas taco, and a pork verde gordita. The burrito is beyond what I remember, so full of delicious beans and meat that you can't even roll it up all the way. The steak is delicious, seasoned perfectly and not too salty. The beans and potatoes go so well together, both once again seasoned perfectly. With the crunch of the lettuce and pico on the side, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this burrito, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The carnitas taco was so juicy and flavorful, and much larger than I was expecting! The pork verde gordita was phenomenal, so much flavor packed into a delicious pocket of fried masa. Finish it all off with a horchata or a coke, and there does not exist a more perfect meal in the metro area. The vibe of the restaurant is also very sweet, it takes me back to being a little kid, and sharing this meal with my family. Whether you stay near Stockyard City, or all the way across town, make a stop into Los Comales. You are sure to discover why this place has lingered in my mind and taste buds for the last 15 years. read more

I came here because of the numerous recommendations I saw on social media, I wasn't impressed though. The pork and green chili taco and the carnitas taco were pretty good but the barbacoa and carne asada had zero flavor. Also, the carne asada was extremely greasy, so much so that the tortilla was soaked in grease and I couldn't finish the burrito. Maybe the breakfast tacos are better, but the regular menu wasn't anything to write home about. read more

Hole in the wall kind of place but it's so worth it! The tacos are delicious and I love their chips, salsa and queso dip. The salsa had a kick to it! You can order flautas, and other items from the menu. I think they are very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. They also have Spanish sodas and drinks you can order. Next time I come I'd love to try the lengua tacos. The restaurant is not in a very nice part of town and I would never stop by to eat if it weren't for my husband who works nearby and recommended we go there for lunch. A buddy of mine introduced me to this place and I am very glad he did. I've been a few times now and it never disappoints. The breakfast burritos are enormous, almost comically so. They are full of eggs, potatoes, cheese, and your choice of meat. I highly recommend the housemade verde sauce to go with them. These are knife and fork jobs, so I would not recommend eating on the run. Incredible prices too for how much you get, very reasonable. One thing I have noticed is a lot of people come in the mornings and get multipe breakfast tacos to go. I've done it a couple of times for our office, but people will come in and order 2 dozen or more regularly. I would recommend maybe calling ahead if you have a large order. They make everything fresh when it's ordered, so if you have an enormous order it is probably worth giving them a head's up so you don't end up waiting forever. The tacos are large, wrapped very carefully, and they include a ton of red and green sauce. Great breakfast for a lot of people that isn't just bagels or donuts. I know the stockyards are cattle and steak country, and rightfully so. But, don't sleep on this Mexican joint on Agnew. It is not fancy, but it's clean, comfortable, and has great food. My partner and I were doing a little taco tour and stopped here to try the green chili taco. It was soooooooo delicious and flavorful with a gradually spicer spice towards the end of eating the taco but still not mouth burning. My continual quest for the best Mexican breakfast burrito leads me to always investigate the local mom and pop/family restaurants in the locale in which I find myself. Enter Los Comales. Located in the Stockyards area of OKC it was quite a drive but you can't be shy on spending time, gas and money when it comes to a burrito quest. I rolled in just after they opened on Sunday to a sleepy almost vacant cowtown section of OKC and entered. I knew from the smells, the music and the fact that they were serving bottled beverages and not fountain drinks I had likely happened upon a legit burrito joint. I ordered up 7 big burritos ( two #12s-asada bean, egg and cheese and 5 #11's-egg, potato, bacon and bean) I added beans to the ones without, which I recommend. Be warned they were a bit on the pricey side at $9 bucks a piece but you'll believe they are worth it, in my opinion the are worth every bite. These breakfast burritos were some of the best I've had-I will certainly come back when I'm in town. read more

There are so many wonderful authentic Mexican restaurants in the area and if you want to be treated fairly, appreciated, and with respect you may not be finding that kind of vibe at this one. To give you some background I have eaten at this restaurant at least 30xs within a couple of years. I have brought in friends, co-workers, and have told random strangers about the place. Today I come in to order something I hadn't ordered before and printed on the menu I see $9.50. When they check me out it is actually $2 more. I stop and tell the lady (in Spanish) that they are over charging me for the meal. She proceeds with they changed the price. I didn't accept this excuse considering they should honor their menu price and should make the necessary changes because I was only giving that dish a try because of the fair price. Long story short, even the "hefe" wouldn't budge and straight up told me that if I didn't like the price I didn't have to eat there....WHOA! So shocked to have received this response I said "alright, I will be sure to take my business elsewhere." I will never spend another dime at this establishment. Further more, my coworker was present and has agreed that we will no longer hold work lunches at this location. Luckily there are more than a handful in the same area. read more

It's about time I pay homage via a Yelp Review to Los Comales... I really dig it. It's been called a taco shop, but in reality, it has a full menu - and while all of it's taqueria'esque, the experience here is typical of real Mexican restaurants - especially those on the Baja Peninsula - north of Cabo. Places like Guerrero Negro y Mulage. I love the value here and the people who work here smile. They are friendly. They are real. Customers too... Best item on the menu? Any if the Burro's or the Tostada's. Order tacos or tostadas here and you will get three... And they are huge. Come hungry, leave stuffed and satisfied. Thanks to this little restaurant, I can enjoy the best of 'real Mexican' only steps from my office... And if I weren't that close, I'd still come here often. This is a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant that I think too few people know about. It's near 15th on Agnew and most people who come to this area to eat head to Cattleman's...big mistake. I'd take this place over Cattleman's any day of the week! The staff is friendly and will happily help you with their large array of menu choices. But let me just tell you, everything is delicious and you really can't order wrong here! The burritos are a meal unto themselves, so don't order them for a light lunch. I swear you get a pound of meat in those behemoths. My personal favorites are the cilantro chicken and green chile pork. read more

Very, very good taqueria located in Stockyard City just south of Cattleman's. Every time I've been here I've been pleased. The pork tacos with either green or red sauce are very good, and the carnitas was filled with chunks of pork just lightly fried to give you that perfect carnitas texture. This place is alright. I've been twice. The 1st time I went around 6am. Seems they don't open until 8. Hmmm breakfast joint that doesn't open before dawn. Ok fine. I ordered the bacon, egg, & potato burrito. Which was huge. I would've liked less potatoes, but it was good. I really liked their verde sauce. My daughter loves this place so we went last weekend for birthday. Remembering they don't open Til 8 I made sure to be there at that time so I didn't have to wait around. WELL, apparently they run on their own time. I'm a very punctual person so I made sure to be arrive around 8:15. I didn't want to seem to eager hehe. We walked in and they told us they weren't open yet. Walked back out. UGH. We waited outside until 8:43 for them to let us in. Seriously, If it weren't for my daughter, both times, I would've left. Here's the thing. I used to just come to Agnew for the steak at a little place known as Cattleman's. Yeah, I dabbled in their breakfast, but that was mostly because I worked night shift and they are one of the few establishments that serves beer with their eggs. Little did I know what I was missing out on. Just across the street and a few doors south lies this gem. I don't care what you order here. It's good. Not kidding. Spin around blindfolded and throw a dart at the menu Pin the Tail on the Donkey style, and I promise you will like what shows up in front of your face. The machacado anything is yummers, and the lengua is equally as good. Just don't make the mistake I did and order a breakfast burrito and well... anything else. They aren't small and you'll injure yourself trying to eat everything. Don't forget to wash it down with a real Coke either! read more

I was slightly apprehensive about this place when I first pulled up, they literally have bars on the windows and it isn't in the best part of time. I went back to Los Comales recently and it was a bit on the yucky side. It seems that the tacos are a lot oilier than I remember from the last two times I was there. The worst part was the chorizo burrito I ordered, it almost makes me sick to think about it... It was so full of that red liquified chorizo fat and runny refried beans, that it was like holding a bowl of "ewww" soup contained by a tortilla. I could barely stomach it, but forced myself to "drink" most of it only cause I paid for it. I don't think I'll be coming back to this restaurant ever again [hurling noise]. If you're looking for amazing, authentic Mexican food this is your place.!! With Telemundo playing on the t.v. and a plethora of children's candy and toy machines this is as authentic an atmosphere as you can get. This afternoon I had the best taco in the entire world!!! All the ingredients were fresh and tasty and I would have loved to have about 8 more tacos. The menu does not really have much of a meal option (you pretty much order a la carte). But I find this okay because I pay for what I really want to eat and am never disappointed. Not going to lie ... the atmosphere is very basic and is very run down and has a feel of being in someone's basement. But I don't mind this at all this time because the food will have you coming back no matter what the place looks like. You can tell this is a hidden jewel in OKC because one block over is the Cattleman Steakhouse and appears to get a lot of attention by the tourists. But if they only knew what amazing food was one block over, this place would be out the door with business. Went here for breakfast and both my boyfriend and I were really impressed. I got the asada burrito and he got one with bacon. They were large portions and delicious! Im picky on my mexican food and I will be coming back to this place when im in town. Very affordable and nice staff too! The asada is greasy but thats what you expect with the type of meat.
