I have noticed Tacos Chilo's on 50th Street just east of MacArthur (next to Marcos Pizza) many times when I pull into either Charm or Abels and I've wondered. Is it worth sacrificing an Abels trip to try it? I finally bit the bullet yesterday and headed in. It was worth it. The menu is limited but the prices are fantastic!  I've found sometimes that a small menu means that the few  things on it are done really well as they are at Tacos Chilo's. First visit we tried the flautas (you get 5) which are covered in a salad topped with crema and fresh cheese with a side of sliced avocado and tomatoes. and the mulita (sort of like a quesadilla with corn tortillas. The tortillas are obviously handmade and delicious! They are lightly fried until they puff a bit and then are filled with carne asada (my choice) onions, cilantro and a hunk of avocado. The meat choices (shown on the back of the menu) for most of the dishes are asada (beef), pastor (pork), higado (cow liver), lechon (soft pork) and pollo (chicken). Menudo and Birria is offered daily I believe for fans of those. Only reason I gave it a 4* is the limits. My husband wanted pepper but they don't have it. There are no public restrooms. The two sauces offered are good but if you wanted more heat, there were no salsas offered, but just a kind of watered salsa verde and tabasco sauce. However I learned you can ask for regular or spicy salsa on my 2nd visit. Overall I really liked it.

This place has amazing Mexican food. It's a min and pop style eatery. I ordered Flautas but to my specific order. They are normally served with avocado, tomato's and other items but I was trying to recreate a dish from El Paso called Chico's tacos , it was a pretty good match after I put the green chili on. The restaurant is cozy and has a family style laid back ambiance. The food is just as it should be, authentic and tasty. This place isn't fancy but should be at the top of your list to visit if your in the mood for good Mexican food in OKC.

The sweetest staff. Beautiful tableware. Delicious food. And very unique in okc. I had the enchiladas. A tiny bit of cotija & fresh onion inside. So light and flavorful. Can't wait to return!

Enchiladas with a side of cactus. Incredible meal and great price. The potatoes are super yummy.

This place is definitely a gem and is newish (I think), so please show them some love. I've had the enchiladas twice now and am obsessed. The potatoes that come with them have such a buttery texture and special subtle flavor--seriously some of the best potatoes I've ever had. Everything we've tried there has been super fresh and delicious in a way that's surprising. The cheese in the enchiladas tastes really fresh. The pineapple aguas frescas was fresh and made in house. The taco sides such as radishes, limes, and peppers/carrots are also high quality and super fresh. The portions are a good size so you're not asking for a food coma when you leave, in addition to the meal not being heavy in general. The atmosphere is comfortable, clean and relaxed as well. We even got it to-go once and everything was boxed up perfectly.

Carlos is especially amazing--he's always friendly, attentive, and provides excellent customer service. Experiences like the ones I've had with him are a big reason I keep coming back. Unfortunately, tonight was a completely different experience. My friend only ordered a drink while I ordered food. When the bill came, we noticed he had been charged $11 for chips and salsa, which was shocking. We've eaten here many times, and chips and salsa have always been complimentary with a meal, so this caught us completely off guard. When we asked about the charge, our server explained that because my friend didn't order food, she had to charge him for the chips and salsa. While I understand that restaurants have policies, I tried to find a simple solution by asking if she could just add his drink to my ticket since I had ordered a meal anyway. She told me she still couldn't do that and said we would have to pay the charge regardless. What made the situation even more confusing was that she acknowledged chips and salsa come with a meal, yet there seemed to be no flexibility to resolve such a small issue. It wasn't even about the money--it was the lack of consistency and customer service. As regular customers who come here often, it was disappointing to be treated this way over something that could have been handled much more reasonably. A little understanding or willingness to work with us would have gone a long way. I'll continue to say that the food is excellent, and Carlos continues to be one of the best employees here. However, this experience left a bad impression, and I hope management reviews how situations like this are handled so loyal customers don't leave feeling frustrated.

Service was quick on a Tuesday night! I like that this is one of the only places that really stays open a bit later on the weekdays. The complimentary chips with salsa and queso were... interesting. The chips themselves were good but the salsa and queso weren't the best. I ordered the enchiladas verdes as my main and this was pretty good! I always love having a huge side of refried beans. I ordered the strawberry Agua Fresca and was not expecting it to be the milky/creamy type of Agua Fresca. I was actually really disappointed that it tasted just like having strawberry Nesquik milk. I guess that's my fault for not asking more questions about it though! Overall, the people are nice and service was quick! The decor on the walls is really great also. And tequila shots are only like $6 so it's not badly priced!

It arrived as this dramatic, beautifully constructed tower of mixed seafood topped with avocado and a whole shrimp--definitely a dish that makes an entrance. The seafood seemed fresh, but I discovered that this particular style of mixed mariscos just isn't for me. Some of the seafood had a gray, translucent appearance and texture that I personally didn't enjoy. That may simply be characteristic of the preparation rather than any problem with the dish. I only tried this one item, so I don't think it would be fair to judge the kitchen more broadly based on my personal preference. What I can comment on much more definitively is the noise. It was extraordinarily loud. I eventually pulled out my phone and measured the sound level because I genuinely wanted to know whether it was as loud as it felt. I recorded levels exceeding 100 dB, with peaks around 103 dB. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Unfortunately, I could barely hear them. I enjoy energetic restaurants and certainly don't expect dinner to take place in a library. But there's a point where "lively atmosphere" becomes something prospective customers deserve to know about before deciding where to spend an evening. This crossed that line for me. If a very high-energy, extremely loud environment is your thing, you may have a completely different experience. If you're hoping to have a conversation over dinner without shouting across the table, I'd choose accordingly. Friendly staff, impressively presented food, and a seafood dish that simply wasn't my jam. But the volume overwhelmed everything else about the experience--and at 103 dB, that's not background music. That's the main course.
