Both the food and the service were pleasing and exceptional. I had a pupusapupusa's and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Topped it off with a nice large Jamaica and I was as happy as can be. I originally went in to get a deal on an app that I was using for it to go order and ended up hanging out on one of the comfy chairs to finish my meal. They have a digital jukebox for the massive selection of music and that place is party ready. There's more room in the back and they can rearrange the tables to accommodate your group size for birthdays, family, events, or special occasions. All you have to do is give them some advance notice and going in beforehand to work out all the arrangements. read more

Ordered a plate of pupusas de queso and it came with a side of chips, salsa, and a spicy shredded salad. The pupusas were served fresh and tore apart in satisfying pieces, the cheesiness is pleasant and overall filling. The chips and salsa were nice to have on the side and the salad was good to have some greens to balance the diet. I also picked up some cookies by the front counter and they had a nice buttery flavor to them, very simple but delightful desserts after the meal. Location is difficult to access by driving as there are very limited parking spots. It may be wise to order ahead and have a friend wait in the car by the side in a space to pick up. Otherwise, it's in a high traffic area so walking to this place is convenient. The staff are friendly, fast paced, and very kind. It seems most people opt for take-out but there seems to be plenty of dining space inside for anyone choosing to dine in. read more

Absolutely Delicious! I haven't had good pupusas in a WHILE. My kids and I loved them. My kids weren't a big fan of the tamales, a bit dry. Not a fan of the price but everything is expensive these days . They do a deal of 10 pupusas for 28$ + tax. I just moved into town and glad to have stumbled into this little place. read more

My Mother was visiting from Delaware and she told me she missed eating Salvadoran Ian food. During our tour of the old neighborhood we found this place and it had been here for decades so we came in. Glad we did! Our greeter Angela was the best host. We both ordered bean and cheese and just Cheese Pupusa's , a plate of Chicharrones and Yucca and we were set. I tried los comales through Grubhub as I read some good reviews about it. I order a bean and one all cheese with locoro. However I was not satisfied with the all bean Pupusa, the beans were really dry and no flavor whatsoever. The cheese with loroco was good. I recommend it. I'm still on the hunt for some authentic food. read more

Wow, no reviews for this place. I guess it's not that surprising since it did't have much of a "lunch crowd" today. Seems like they have locals to keep the business afloat though. The food wasn't bad. We wanted to try El Salvadorian food--got some pupusas, yuka, some meat dish. It's about $2 per pupusa, and I guess it's alright for snacking if you're craving greasy. Pupusas are like stuffed quesadilla, stuffed with cheese, pork, or whatever's on the menu inside the tortilla. Probably won't go back again, but not a bad place to check out for lunch if you work nearby. *Note: The waitress there only spoke Spanish, so unless you're going with some Spanish-speaking folks, it's gona be a little tricky to order. read more

I just moved to Koreatown, and was craving popusas, I said why not walk down the street and try this restaurant. Was a big mistake, everything was flavorless, the masa, the stuffing the sauce and the curtido. Didn't have much flavor. I've had better popusas from a street stand. los comales is a dive with heart. the interior is shabby and a little haphazard. the vantage point for those curious or brave enough to enter the front door reveal a long railcar rectangle of a room with a bulky jukebox directly ahead, a dark elevated room to the right, and a some seating to the left anchored by a jumbled service station. an enthusiastic (but misguided) attempt at decorating and "class" is evidenced by cheap striped drapes that frame the windows, faded tablecloths that cover shabby tables beneath heavy panes of scratched glass, and bouquets of flake flowers optimistically lining the high cut out shelf by the ceiling. proof yet again that looks aren't everything and not always an indicator of substance. what los comales lacks in good looks and polish, it delivers in good food. the menu is well traveled, with recognizable stops in mexico, el salvador, and guatemala. prices are reasonable and portions are generous. best of all, the food is delicious. the mojara fritto (fried fish) is delicious and succulent. the refried beans are ridiculously good (and no doubt very bad for you) and every plate is loaded with some type of accoutrement : a square of feta, a mound of sour cream, a heaping spoonful of pico de gallo, a mountain of rice---all garnished with a charred green onion and jalapeno. the churrasco plate ($14) is an incredible value and enough for two : a heaping amount of carne asada, some type of delicious rice/bean combo, fat el salvadorean suasages, pico de gallo, sour cream, buttery caramelized plantains, and thick homemade tortillas. for the drinkers, beer here is cheap and well varied. my new favorite discovery is victoria, which is similar to pacifico. service is very friendly though not particularly hurried or efficient. ask for water if you want it and be prepared to ask multiple times before receiving it. expect to see squat grandma types in flowered dresses and aprons sitting at a table, gossiping and passing the day. oh, and bring cash because it's cash only. read more

This is a really small hole in the wall that I barely realized was a restaurant haha. They have a really good selection and prices. I got a pupusa de queso and it was really delicious! The happy hour makes it $1.10 per pupusa, rather than the normal $1.80. I would definitely go again and look forward to trying new entrees! read more
