Came across this little spot on Yelp - wasn't disappointed! It's a cute and clean little spot with friendly counter-service. The prices here aren't bad at all for the amount of food you get. I ordered a super steak burrito on a spinach tortilla which I enjoyed & my BF ordered the chorizo con huevos plate that he said was very good & that they used actual chorizo instead of something out of a bag. The agua frescas were yummy - horchata is nice and sweet and the girls at the counter ask if you'd like ice which is awesome because you actually feel in control of your beverage, unlike other spots that serve you a full cup of ice. I had the lemonade which was tart and refreshing, a must try! I enjoy supporting small businesses & this fairly new spot didn't disappoint at all! Give it a shot! read more

Came here for a Halloween dinner with a friend.place was pretty empty when we arrived. It's not a place where you get seated so order your food and have a seat while it comes out. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I went for the two enchiladas green and one red with no beans and I got a chicken taco. We all Placed our orders and when it arrived I had beans on my plate and my chicken taco was steak lol I still kept it and tried it all and it was pretty good. When I come here I get a chicken enchilada with no cheese, rice and beans and a salad and come to $11.63. You're not gonna get that anywhere. Maggie is so great with making sure my food is hot. It's always clean in there. It can't get busy with the DoorDash and people take out orders but Maggie handles that well. I recommend this place for a good hot Mexican dinner. read more

Super burritos with steak are delicious and of course had to try their tacos and they have big tortillas tacos and small tortilla tacos I had the steak and meat was cooked perfect juicy and salsa was delicious not to hot and not to mild. They've gotten very frugal on the quantity. Paid for beef fajitas and only got 3 strips/pieces of meat. I'm rooting for them since they are so close to my house but the value has decreased significantly. Still good food, just not a good bang for your buck. read more

Easy location near bart, has parking which is great. I ordered sopes and they were very hard and tasted old. Toppings were lackluster and needed flavor. My son discovered a hair in his burrito. Won't be back, although the aguas frescas were tasty and a good price. read more

I can't beleive I haven't reviewed this place yet. It's a great little neighborhood mexican place. I'm a big fan of their baja fish, shrimp tacos and their chicken mole. Not everything on their menu shows up on for online ordering but they are great about reading your comments and following them. For example they substitute adding rice for extra cheese on the bean and cheese burritos I order. I was really craving their mole and it wasn't on the online ordering system. But I ordered another chicken plate and added guac so it was the same price as the mole and asked for the mole instead. And I got the mole! I really appreciate that level of customer service. I also love ordering the 8 oz of pico de gallo. I could eat it with a spoon! read more

Could care less about food quality. I care more about quality of people who work for food businesses. Ordered Togo about 15 minutes before closing and My 7 yr old left her phone at the table and after leaving we returned within 5 minutes to pick it up and the lady behind the counter with an extremely impatient attitude refused to return it. My daughters phone was unlocked so she an opportunity to steal a nice unlocked phone and tried it. She saw my daughter in her phone the entire time. We had to argue for about 5 minutes to get my daughters phone back. Disgusting. read more

A friend recommended this spot for good Mexican food, and I'm so thankful for the recommendation! Highlights: -their aqua frescas are fresh and tasty. Having eaten here a handful of times over the past month (I'm pregnant, so don't judge me!), they've offered flavors such as watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberry lemonade and horchata. Cantaloupe is my favorite so far. -they offer a good selection of vegetarian items. Get this-their vegetarian burrito actually has veggies in it! Broccoli, carrot, zucchini, spinach. They season the veggies, and it's pretty darn tasty. I love that that offer vegetarian (actually vegan), tamales. For vegan just specify "no sour cream". -salsa is super delicious! I recommend asking for an extra side of salsa (or two), if you order for pick-up. I keep forgetting to ask for extra salsa, so I'm not sure if they charge for this. This place has yet to disappoint my family. Good food. Casual environment. We walk, but they even have a good amount of parking which is unusual this close to downtown SL. I have had their daily special twice and was blown away both times. Their camarones a la diabla is great. The black beans are very tasty. Tamales, enchiladas... you name it so far it has been good. Ordered for p/u while visiting San Leandro (am from L.A.) and it was still warm, neatly packaged, and not at all expensive. Moreover, I would consider this the first authentic Mexican restaurant thus far and I really enjoyed the asada tacos. I was pleasantly surprised with their Chile sauce and chips included with my meal. The horchata was really good too and tasted almost as good as my moms. read more

It was ok. I've had better! Friendly service and hospitality, they get 3 stars for that. I ordered the super shrimp burrito in the spinach tortilla. There was a fair amount of shrimp in it but the sour cream, salsa, and guacamole was not spread evenly. One end had none of the condiments and the other side was chock full of them. I also tried the super steak nachos, props for putting in a nice take out container but cheese was not melted and the steak was tad bit salty. I appreciate the home made chips but they were too thick and some of them were full of grease. The chicken quesadilla was so so, kids didn't seem too impressed with it. Started coming here when this place first opened. The food was good and the prices seemed fair. After a yr or so I notice the prices going up every time i ordered, I would order the same thing and 1-2 months later it would be like $2-3 dollars more for exact same thing. Last time I ordered I asked the cashier if they had raise the prices again and he said no, even though he was charging me like $3.50 more for the same order I had place 5-6 weeks prior. Also last time the steak burrito I got from there had more fat than actual meat. In short, prices went up, but the food quality went down. read more

I saw some negative reviews here but I think Los Cantaros is great. I have gone to there Oakland, Grand Ave location for years. The heartsmart burrito is my favorite. I have called in a togo order a few times at this San Leandro location and its just as good and there is always parking in the parking lot. I hope this review doesn't change that ;) read more
