On cruise departure day I convinced one of my friends to walk with me to El Cuerito de la 15. I called them and they said to come by at 11:30. It's basically like an outdoor yard BBQ picnic. The place is super cool with galvanized steel walls and roof, colorful murals and "graffiti." The whole roast pig was right in front of us and looked so sad but oh so delicious! It appears to be family-run and the woman remembered my phone call. We were quickly seated. The menu is very simple. Everyone was so friendly, even the regulars! We got free samples of roast pig, chicken and 2 shots of something LOL. Potato salad and the banana dessert were good too. The lechon was perfect, we over-ordered at 1.5 pounds and couldn't finish it even though we stuffed ourselves. Two Asian Americans in pig heaven. Plus our bill was so inexpensive, the cheapest meal by far in San Juan. It was definitely worth a morning walk into the barrio, which I wouldn't recommend walking alone at night.
