I had to move to three different bar stools before I could find one that didn't rock. I guess if you've had a few shots of Patron, it doesn't matter. They gave me a half bowl of salsa and the chips were cold The chicken didn't have much flavor. The onions and peppers were undercooked My server, Kevin, was good and checked in on my several times. For a lunch special @ $20 bucks, just missed the mark. I would not call it a 'hole in the wall' place as other Yelpers have described. So we usually eat here, maybe once a week. Tonight I noticed on the menu they charge an extra dollar for chip or salsa refill. I noticed the chips to start off with were about half the basket. How have I not reviewed Los Azteca's before? This is really close to my house and our go to for when we are craving Mexican food. The inside has brightly covered murals and painted tables and booths. And the food is served on bright Fiesta plates. It's a warm fun environment. Service is usually good, friendly and fast. When you dine in, you get complimentary chips and salsa. I love the salsa. Taste fresh and has a hint of cilantro. We ordered through Postmates tonight. I got the chicken Adobe and my husband got the arroz con pollo, his go to meal. We've had many things here before and are fans of any chicken dish. The description of mine said it was marinated chicken with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms in a cheesy sauce with a side of rice, beans and tortillas. The portion is huge. I had two chicken breasts. The veggies are refreshing. I at first thought the cheese sauce was missing, but found it under the chicken. Chicken is tender and has a nice seasoning and grill to it. The cheese sauce is one of my favorite things. Rice was also good and seasoned. Hubby enjoyed his dish but said there was less cheese than usual. I think they pour more on at the restaurant. This was a surprisingly good hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. The decor was bright and colorful. We went in the middle of the afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated right away. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. We then ordered the queso fundido y chorizo which was absolutely amazing. It was probably the best thing I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. For my main dish I got the Hawaiian Quesadilla which was also very good. I tried the Pollo con Crema that my friends ordered which was amazing as well. Friendly service but otherwise, pretty standard compared to other inexpensive restaurants of this type in the Charlotte area. This is the only one that I know of in Fort Mill, so there's that. Chips were good, salsa was a little more watery than I like but otherwise tasty. I had the two burritos lunch special, my daughter had a chimichanga. Both were good portions and they were quality. I have lived around the corner for almost nine years and haven't spent much time in this strip mall, so I've never eaten here before. We didn't receive huge fanfare when we walked in, but were promptly seated. It was pretty bare for a Saturday night. Customer service was marginal (as far as checking back and what not), but it wasn't horrible. The food came out rather quickly and was rather tasty. Took food to go from Los Aztecas, and it just wasn't good. I miss Tex Mex when I'm in NYC and so Mexican food is some of the first food I look for when I'm in the Fort Mill/Charlotte area. My parents suggested this place since it's close by to their home and it just wasn't good. At all. We were told the food would be ready in 10-15 minutes. 20 minutes later, it still wasn't ready. Fine. Not the biggest deal. My husband enjoyed his veggie quesadilla. The service and the quesadilla will get you to two stars, but the rest is where the wheels fall off. We got multiple combos involving enchiladas, tacos, and bean burritos. Everything we ordered was vegetarian, and it came with a side of grease. The sauces on the burritos and enchiladas were just lacking of taste and flavor, completely. The rice and beans were fine, along with the salsa, but the chips also didn't taste fresh. Our waiter was rude and condescending; we had to ask for everything, and then it was 15 minutes before it was brought to us. This has been a go to take out spot for us the last few months. I highly recommend their chicken soup and fajita burrito.

On our quest to find Mexican food we stopped here to try it. To sum it up, it's quick serve mexican food. I had a combo plate. Enchiladas seem to be thrown together like a taco would be. The corn tortilla looks to be dipped in sauce, ground beef tossed in then rolled and plated with more enchilada sauce and some cheese on top. Burrito same way except a flour tortilla is used in that case. The tamale was probably frozen and heated up, came on the plate unwrapped and sauce on top. My combo plate tasted the all same. Salsa was decent, chips were not made there. It was the best attempt at Mexican food thus far. Not the Tex mex that is so prevalent in the area. Okay so not too long ago me and my boyfriend ordered food from here . I've always went here and never have had a problem with the employees nor food, unfortunately that didn't last. We had gotten food poisoning sadly my boyfriend got the worst of it. It had gotten so bad I almost had to take him to the emergency room. Well, I had called them to let them know that there food made us sick I also stayed that my boyfriend was extremely sick and that if I did have to take him to the hospital that they would have to pay that bill since they were in a hurry to cook and give me my food. We only ate a few bites untill we noticed that our food wasn't cooked. My chicken was pink ... the man hung up on me and didn't answer the phone 3 times then I called the forth time saying "are you joking ? This is highly unprofessional. " the woman acted like she couldn't speak any English then proceeded to tell me to never call them back and if I did that there would be trouble then she hung up on me. You have lost us as customers. I went to this place really late at night because nothing else was open, and I must say the food was alright going down but God forgive me for what I did to the toilet about an hour afterwards. This food hit my stomach like the Fat Man hit Hiroshima. There was nothing left of my bowels except for shadows etched into the toilet bowl. I felt like I had recieved an exorcism. I've had good experiences at the Matthews location. However, ordering takeout from a closer location was terrible. The biggest mistake: phony guacamole. I have eaten here about once a week for the last six years. Food is usually decent and inexpensive. My last visit was today. Their lunch special runs till 3:00. We got there around 2:45. They immediately brought chips and took our drink order. Waitress brought our drinks and instead of asking if we were ready to order, she walked off. Only one other customer there at the time. She piddled around some tables and we wondered why she wasn't taking our order. We joked that she was waiting for lunch specials to end. If you're on the hunt for some very well prepared Mexican Food, than Los Aztecas is a great choice. They prepare great dishes that are about as good as you get living on the Rio Grande. I grew up in deep south Texas and this food is a decent substitute. Now my challenges are more along the service side. I don't like to feel rushed. When I go to a sit down restaurant I like to enjoy the atmosphere, try the adult beverages, and enjoy my meal slowly. This place doesn't really give you that experience. Last time I visited I was greeted at the door take to my booth asked what I wanted to drink and that was it. I finally ordered a beer, but they were adament that things move along, so before I even got to sit on the Negro Modelo our server had been back twice for my order. Just because I saw where this was going, I decided to place an order for cheese nachos. She asked my if I wanted some meat on that and I pointed with my finger to the menu item I wanted: cheese nachos. It didn't have meat. She then proceeded to place my order. The food arrived quickl. As expected...she added meat. That of course is more expensive, but I wasn't interested in complaining. It was delicious. Next I saw my server was to deliver my bill. Never got a 2nd beer. Kind of disappointed about that. I like to enjoy the beverages. So, without fanfare I paid and left. 5 Stars for Food and Atmosphere. 2 Stars for Service. I like to enjoy restaurants. The menu isn't too clear about some things and our server looked very confused when I asked for clarification. It was my first (and probably only) time there. Meh. No big deal, I ordered queso to go with our chips that tasted more like peanut oil than corn chips and tomato sauce from a jar masquerading as salsa. Big surprise, it was just melted queso fresqa and milk. No pico, peppers, or anything. Moving on, I ordered sour creme chicken enchiladas and a side ground beef taco. With rice and beans. Hey, they got the rice and beans just right. Had that nice lard added to the refried beans and it was yummy I'm terribly disappointed that most of the meal had absolutely no flavor, not even salt and pepper in the ground beef. Where's the cumin? The chicken was obviously boiled in plain water and tough and stringy with a few slices of bland white onion. If your favorite meal is some wonder bread with miracle whip, you might think this food is exciting. If you enjoy the complex regional flavors of Mexico and like the heat of Tex Mex, this place is not for you. Mexican night at the nursing home probably has more flavor. It doesn't have to be a five alarm fire in my mouth, but at least give me something to taste that isn't blah. It wouldn't take much to fulfill the promise to your taste buds the pictures give you.
