Dining area/TVs with legs even though they're mounted

This was the closest thing around that wasn't fast food, so I got off on the interstate and when pulling into this place it was very empty and hardly had people and it was lunch time (1:30pm) We arrived and get greeted by the host/waitress. Very friendly staff and quick and easy. We got the buffet which was $12 a person plus drink separate. The food was 2/5 at best.. it was cold and hardly at room temperature. The only thing good was the appetizer which was chips and salsa.. but I highly doubt it was made from scratch.. it had to be pre-prepared salsa because compared to the other foods they served at the buffet it was no where near as good. Chicken was stringy and dry. Rice barely had any taste and it was cold to the touch. I do NOT recommend anyone come here. I had to chase down a waitress because the drink my partner got had wayyy too much sugar and had to get a normal Coke. If you decide to go here anyways after reading this review you have been warned. Also do NOT go to the bathroom because the toilet does not flush AT ALL!!

Nachos. Watered down. Wish I could add a video to show the soupy-ness of these nasty nachos

This place was not good at all and I've tried it twice now. I got the nachos supreme but just asked for beef cause I wanted to sour cream and lettuce with it. It came out with beef, beans, and chicken after I had just asked for beef. But the worst part was how runny it was. It was like nacho soup. My fiancé got a fajita salad and his was soupy as well. We think it was the lettuce, but it watered our meal down. I've never had watered down nachos before. Just awful.

Here's the spot for cool drink and tacos, smile courtesy of Miranda Newman.

Upscale and friendly Los Arcos is a great place to escape the summer heat and refresh yourself with a cool Pina Colada and tacos & such. This is slightly dressed-up Mexican fare for the masses. The atmosphere is welcoming with mariachi and other Spanish-language light-listening playing in the background.

Great buffet! Waitress was very nice and all the food seemed fresh and taste great. Came from Florida on business and will def come here again if I ever come back to north Carolina.

First trip. Everything was awesome. Shredded chicken was better when in a dish than by itelf. I had already dug into the chiliquiles.

I was intrigued by the fact that Los Arcos had a buffet for lunch...you don't see many mexican lunch buffets. I came by myself, the place was hopping with a lot of guys you could tell were work buddies but I was still seated immediately and had water and chips waiting when I got back from perusing the buffet. All of the staff were working their butts off, especially Carlos who was my server. The buffet had everything you would think a mexican buffet should have- build your own tacos, taco salads, fajitas, enchiladas, plus some extras: chilaquiles (!), watermelon, some good looking sauces/salsas. I was surprised that the buffet didn't have soggy overly oiled food...but they were replacing empty pans constantly so there were a lot of fresh options. It's a great deal for 7.50 and the locals seem to know it.

Always love this place. The food is amazing and the service is just as good. We order here about once a week. It's definitely a favorite.

Don't bother- there are too many good Mexican restaurants to bother eating at this one. The meat tasted really bad.

I'm actually close to their Belmont location (which is also great), but stumbled upon them in Gastonia while running errands. The staff is all super friendly, and even when busy, the food comes out fast and perfectly cooked. My husband had the Al Pastor tacos on our first visit, and they were SO good. Fully loaded as well! I noticed the ACP included a good variety of vegetables and couldn't turn it down. On our next visit, I was torn between those two options as the al pastor was so delicious, but I really wanted the veggies with rice and cheese. The waitress was able to swap the chicken for al pastor for a small upcharge, and it was so worth it! I was able to enjoy what I loved from both dishes without having to compromise. Made my day! Their guacamole is also very tasty. Unfortunately, it disappeared before I could snap a pic. Anyway, if you're in the area and looking for a good option for Mexican food, Taxco is definitely a solid choice. Makes the area feel a bit more like home.

*Updated Review* January 6, 2025…read more We were invited back by the owner to experience the exciting changes made to the restaurant, and I am happy to say it was a complete turnaround from my previous visit. It is clear that these updates have made a big difference. Starting with the exterior, the restaurant now boasts a fresh coat of paint and a new entry arch, giving it a clean and welcoming look. Inside, they have removed the buffet to add more tables, creating a more spacious and modern feel. There is also a new bar area where guests can enjoy drinks while watching games on the TVs. The tabletops have been updated, and the décor beautifully complements the murals, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. One standout addition is their bakery, which offers fresh-baked goods made on-site. The updated menu is visually appealing, and the food quality is top-notch, making for an exceptional dining experience. For the table, we enjoyed the Bandeja Antigua--a platter with 1 chuchito, 1 tamal, 1 tostada with guacamole, 1 tostada with beans , 1 tostada with tomato sauce, 2 plantain rellenitos, 2 crispy chicken tacos , 2 chicken empanadas, and Chapin-style enchiladas. My husband and neighbor tried their Charro Beans and fell in love with the flavor. I tried their special ceviche--fish , octopus , shrimp , red onions , tomatoes , cilantro, and cucumber. It came in a beautiful boat-shaped bowl and was definitely flavorful. It was topped with sliced avocado . My husband had the Burrito California--rice , beans , grilled chicken , onion , tomato , and bell peppers topped with melted cheese . He definitely didn't complain. Something to note, though, is that if you order a burrito "a la Antigua," it includes rice, beans, lettuce, onion, cilantro, cream, and cheese inside the nurrito, not on the plate. My other neighbor ordered the Burrito Cheese Steak- Grilled steak, fried onions, inside the burrito, served with rice, beans, and cream salad, topped with melted cheese. Their vision remains centered on their team--motivated, dedicated individuals committed to providing excellent service to every guest. They genuinely value the community that supports them and strive to create meaningful connections. With a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and constant innovation, their mission is to bring people together and make every visit memorable and enjoyable. To further show their appreciation for the community, they offer a 50% discount to active military personnel, police officers, and firefighters, as well as a 10% discount for veterans. It's heartwarming to see their dedication not only to great service but also to giving back. We honestly had no complaints about the quality of the food or service; it was well worth the price, and the amazing tastes were a definite plus!!

FOLLOW UP TO PREVIOUS REVIEW:…read more After my horrible experience at the Bessemer Location, I phoned the other location (Hudson Rd) to get the name of the owner and/or speak with a manager. Raymond answered but had to place me on hold 3x's. When he came back to the phone for the 4th time, he asked if I could again hold the line. In understanding that he was probably very busy, I respectfully declined and advised that I would call back tomorrow. To my surprise, My phone rang and it was Raymond with a wonderful young lady who translated my concerns per my horrible (customer service) experience at the Bessemer location. Not only did they show concern, empathy and disappointment in what I shared as a customer BUT went above and Beyond to make it right! Consideration, Amazing Customer Service and a wonderful attitude when dealing with such matters goes a long way. Thank you Raymond for quickly reminding me (per your actions) as to why I am and will be a loyal customer

Keep in mind that I adore food and am a major foodie. So I can say with certainty that it is an elote and not an esquite as the waitress tried to correct us. There are two variations. One comes in a cup and is off the cob ("esquite"); the other is whole ("elote"). I gave the restaurant a 3 because, to be completely honest, our waitress was terrible. She occasionally rolled her eyes. did not care to serve us honestly, and no menus were presented to us when we sat down. I had to ask for a menu as soon as I saw the young man handing one to the woman who entered after us. Additionally, he wasn't very good at wiping down the table, so I took the rag and did it. I'd visit at any time only for the food, but that kind of treatment is unacceptable. I did speak to Karen, the owner, but I don't think she really cared much. I'll see how it goes on my next visit. July 2023 We have returned multiple times since, and the owners have made changes with fresh paint and servers. Nice little place to sit and enjoy a meal with someone. Our most recent experience was great. Karen, the owner, was amazing, and the food goodness I don't have complaints. This is true authentic Mexican cuisine. My husband is obsessed with the horchata.
