The food is great and have came here a lot over the past years. The music is very nice and they are usually playing a sports game. The artwork on the wall is very nice and the entire restaurant is very clean. The only thing is on busy nights they most likely won't answer the phone for takeout orders. Overall this place is great and I will continue eating here! read more

From food, service, and the general feeling of the restaurant, I would have to say this is currently the best Mexican restaurant in all of Gaston County. Their food and service is definitely by far the best of all the Mexican restaurants in Gaston County. read more

My favorite Mexican spot since 2021. The environment is cozy, they're usually playing sports on the televisions which is nice as a sports fan. The servers are always incredible. Friendly and patient with admirable work ethic. The food itself is the best Mexican cuisine I've ever tasted in my life. Their menu options are very versatile, there's something for everyone, even for picky eaters or those who don't like venturing out to try new things they're not used to. I've never had a bad meal or experience here. Best Mexican restaurant in NC by far. read more

is hands-down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Gastonia. The rice is absolutely delicious--and that's not something you can say about many Mexican restaurants. The service is always outstanding. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember, and it's a staple for my family. In my opinion, they serve the best Mexican food in Gastonia. While the restaurant could use a bit of updating, that doesn't take away from the incredible food and wonderful staff. I also love that they now offer delivery. read more

Food was horrible , Service was worse. Do better . Don't come here , it's not worth it

Food is really Mexican. Authentic. The atmosphere is low lighting inside and warm. Servers were both among the most attentive anywhere. Next time in that area will make a point of going back there for lunch. Also they have really good Mexican music playing. It's everything you'd expect. read more

Tequila Mexican Restaurant - a plate of food on a table - Mexican Near Me - Gastonia, North Carolina

I visited this restaurant for the first time on 04/20/2023 after craving Mexican food. I went as soon as they opened and it had a strong smell of fabuloso so I felt that it was clean. My waiter wasn't too friendly at first but I made conversation with him and I can tell it changed his mood :) I ordered the smothered veggie burrito with a margarita. The margarita was a 7/10. The food was a 10/10! I received nachos and salsa (1mild &1hot) as an appetizer too. My food came within 10 minutes. My waiter checked on me throughout my meal. My only recommendation for this place is to replace the seats because my seat was severely ripped and it snagged on to my clothes. Other than that, I enjoyed my meal. read more

Tried this place due to being in the mood to have Mexican food. This place was highly disappointing. The guy that helped us appeared to bay his job and didn't want to help us at all. The place was rather empty and that should have been a sign. Anyway, I ordered the taco combo and it was alright. The meat was fine but that was about it. The rice didn't have any taste and the beans were blah. The guy didn't come back to refill our waters which was annoying. He also never came around to come and check how everything was. I am pretty sure there are other Mexican places around better than this one. Just avoid this place at all costs. read more

I would never leave a 5 star review for Mexican style food because there are so many different regions and styles of cuisine in Mexico. I'm only leaving my review of their refried beans. These were the very best beans I've ever had in any Mexican style restaurant. These take the crown! read more

Me and my family have been eating here for over 15 years, and go here at least once a week. There's no better place to go for Mexican food in Gastonia. Of course, if there was I wouldn't know it. read more

The food is amazing love this place for good Mexican food or street tacos. The service is Devine everyone is so nice and very attentive. Wish the Ambiance was better it's pretty dated in there definitely needs a few upgrades. The cleanliness could be better to everything is very sticky The floors and especially the bar area super sticky feeling when we sit at the bar. But my overall experience is still a 9 as I will continue to eat here just because the food is delicious read more

go here once a month awesome salasa and mexican food chips are also good too i highly recommend it

Go to Azteca! Lunch fajitas. $10. Waiter said there was a $2.00 upcharge for steak. That was my first warning I should have left. I asked for no rice and extra beans. He said no problem. Took 35 minutes to come out. 6 peices of steak, lot of onions and peppers. Half the plate was rice. Little beans. No refills on drinks. Worst customer service! Do yourself a favor, don't come here! read more

Food is very good. We have lived nearby only a short time snd we've been back here several times. The staff is friendly, the menu has good variety, and low to high prices. Their guac is so good. Looks like a dive from the outside, but don't let it scare you off. Good traditional Mexican food. read more

I don't even know where to start. I have travelled far and wide looking for the best Mexican restaurant. And I found it. I wish I could rate this place six stars because it really deserves it. The street tacos are so good. Salsa is great. Cheese dip is fire. I mean what else can I say this is a beauty of a restaurant. read more

Gastonia staple! It's not a trip home without lunch at Tequila! Carnitas street tacos with jalapeño salsa is my staple!

I just LOVE Tequila! I went for lunch almost every week when I was living in Gastonia. Take out service was super quick and prices are reasonable. Staff is very efficient and friendly. During COVID, they have installed plexiglass barriers and spaced out the restaurant to allow for social distancing and capacity limits. All staff were wearing masks correctly. I felt very safe. I recently moved out of Gastonia and I miss those quesadillas so much! Highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

There always seem to be things you ordered and for missing. So you have to leave your food at home and try and go back to simply get what you purchased. There are many many Mexican restaurants near me. I thought to order from Tequila, I ordered and paid for an order, many things were missing. So I drove back to request I receive what I paid for, as the food I have a home just got cold. I think my family and I will be customers of a different local restaurant. I don't expect any reply from Taquila, but it would be nice. read more

My Husband and children went to Tequilas tonight for dinner, which we do quite often. My daughter found a black hair in her food (both of my children are blonde and husband has no hair). I understand things happen, not a big deal. They remade her food and brought it home. I opened the box when they got home and as they are telling me the story, I found another black hair in the remake. Before they left my husband told the server they charged him for the kid's meal drinks. The server questioned my children's ages and when my husband responded, the server responded "are you sure?" Now he is questioning the honesty of my husband. We frequent the restaurant very often and the server has waited on us multiple times before. But who questions the age of someone's children? Before my husband left he showed him the kids passports and their birthdates. His response, Man those are some big kids. read more

Ive been going to tequilas for a few months the food isn't bad it is ok priced but what i experienced with service last week was unacceptable and i wont be back. Our waitress was too busy flirting w the other server to acknowledge we were sat in her section. She finally approached our table for our drink order, 15 minutes later we look toward the bar area cause we still didn't have our drinks to see her and the waiter guy w the glasses flirting and touching inappropriately behind the bar not even making our drinks yet. This went on the whole time we were there, it was insane that they were more worried about eachother than there customers. Not to mention the long hair we had in our food that was obviusly our waitresses and gross. She didnt smile and wasnt friendly to us once. but was smiling and being friendly to her male coworker. Suggestion, hire new staff that take care of their customers instead of flirting with eachother behind the bar. read more

Terrible service and never get an order correct. I've been a customer for years and I won't darken their door ever again.

The food was rang up properly but after getting home I was missing my beans and rice and sauce for my tacos. I called and told the employee about the problem and she had an attitude and Said I could drive back there to pick it up! I said it was to far to drive! No apologie and hung up the phone without even a goodbye! I have noticed the attitude of the employees there slowing going down hill and now I think it is time to stop going there For now read more

I thought the food here was fantastic. We came for our anniversary dinner on a Monday. They had house margaritas for under $4. We had those, and then switched to the fresh lime margarita. The fresh lime ones were fantastic! House was good too for the price. We started with chips and salsa (didn't get queso but will try it next time). That was all delicious. Our service was great. I couldn't decide on what to eat so I ordered enchiladas verdes and a fish taco. The enchilada sauce was so so good. I'm going to ask for pork instead of chicken next time, just because I prefer pork. The beans and rice were great. The best thing was the fish taco. I could eat so many of those. My husband ordered the special chile relleno dish with shrimp. It was also great but it was a pretty small serving for the cost (one chile and about 5 small shrimp on top). It should have been two chiles. The flavor delivered though! All in all, I feel good giving five stars and I can't wait to go back. read more

**update This place had me severely sick. ** This is from a carry out POV only. I ordered chicken nachos. I was told these were the best chicken nachos I would ever have. I am sure if they were properly put in separate containers like I requested, they probably would have been. However, they were not. When I got the nachos they were a mess to even attempt to eat. I was hungry so I did anyways. The chicken must sit in some sort of juice b/c it had made a lump of crap. Which is said cuz they had potential to be some amazing nachos. I didn't eat any of them, the texture was disgusting. Also, feel like I wasted my 6 bucks, all because they didn't do as they were told over the phone to do when we called in the order. So I might try them again, but not sure b/c once you feel like you got taken its not like you wanna throw away more money read more

Love me my Tequila!!! Recently had the chicken salad. OMG yum. Food is simple, fresh, uncomplicated and good. What more can you want!

Was looking forward to dinner tonight. When we sat there without being waited on for 15 minutes. We arrived and were sat down instantly at 6:04 pm and left at 6:18pm. We waited. Nobody came to take our drink order or asked if we had been waited on. The table of 7 in front of us who arrived later than us were waited on. I even made eye contact with a waiter who clearly saw that we had been waiting. If I could give this place zero stars I would. So if you are looking to have your time wasted or not be acknowledged here is your place. read more

Was in the area and looking for some Mexican food to go, figured I would give this place a shot. Ordered a fish burrito online and picked it up about 10 minutes later. It was ready when I got there, along with a big bag of warm tortilla chips (not salty which is good, and the salsa was great!). The burrito was surprisingly good, and it cost about the same as a burrito at Chipotle would, only much better and without the food poisoning! Definitely plan on going back and trying more from this restaurant next time I'm in the area and craving some Mexican food. Check it out, you will love it too! read more

This place is truly hit or miss. On some occasions I've had excellent service and food, and on others I've had the complete opposite. When it's good, it's really good. We've had excellent wait staff in the past, but I've come to find that it truly depends on who you get as your server. While one waiter might be attentive and quick paced, another might all but ignore you. I went this past weekend and the latter was unfortunately my experience. I do believe the waiter was busy (although, to be fair, the restaurant certainly wasn't overwhelmed with guests at this point), but it took him 15 minutes to take our drink order - we almost got up and left. From there, there was an extended period of time in between requests and his checking on us. We would go without refills and requests (i.e. we didn't have tortillas for our fajitas) for several minutes. When he was attentive, he was kind though. As for food, this is also hit or miss. I routinely get the chicken fajitas and I swear it depends on who's cooking that night as to whether or not they're going to be good. I've had them before where they are excellent (which is probably why I continue to order them); they are hot and fresh and flavored so well. I've also had them before where they were cold and over cooked and overall disappointing. Last thing I'll say, be prepared to wait FOREVER for to go orders. I ordered before I left the house and even gave them an extra few minutes on top of when they said it would be ready. When I arrived, it was a solid 20 MINUTES before someone would go grab it for me. This is partially because you have to pick it up from the bar and that person is usually also making drinks....so you're just standing there....waiting. They don't prioritize their to-go customers at all. Two other people were waiting with me and someone finally said, "before you do anything else, can you please go grab our food, we've been waiting a really long time." That was fairly frustrating. Nonetheless, I will continue to visit Tequila's because more often than not we leave pleased. It's good food for cheap. read more

After being a fan of Tequilla's in downtown Gastonia, I hoped I could get the same great food here. Not So. The salsa was very bland. I got the fish tacos. At the other location, these were spicy and great. The same dish here is tasteless. My son got the steak burrito. He said it was ok, but bland also. Very disappointed. Service was OK. read more

Good chips and guacamole and the waitress was nice. Other than that, worst Mexican I've had in a while. Steak was very overcooked, margaritas were really gross (not enough tequila and the mix they used was awful), and their beans were basically soup. read more

I visited this place with my daughter who came to visit and was craving Mexican, so based on the reviews we choose Tequila. Wish I hadn't. First thing getting in the server was friendly but flat out admitted that he was new and did not knew the menu so he had to keep going back inside to ask if the items we wanted were available. Then when I asked to be moved to an another table because the AC was to strong and it was bothering me, they actually let my daughter carry the basket of chips and silver ware without offering any help. The dipping salsa was far from original the server admitted that it came from a can and was the only one they serve. When the food came out the enchiladas with green salsa looked like someone had vomited over them. My daughter refused to eat it, not only for what it looked like but for the tasteless flavor. We know Mexican food, and that was definitely not it. The tostadas with bean and chicken was soggy and you could not tell what was chicken or flour soggy tortillas. .. the steak tacos were too salty and the meat so chewy that it felt plastic. .. finally we gave up and asked for the ticket without being able to eat anything of what was ordered. .. my daughter has refused to try another Mexican food place in town because she thinks every place will be as awful. .. Bottom line, just because you look Mexican and maybe have some Mexican blood in you, don't assume that you can cook Mexican, it does take real talent, please don't go giving a culture a bad name just because you fancy yourself a Mexican chef. read more

This place is easy to miss tucked into the corner in the Bi-Lo shopping center, but is worth stopping by if you're thinking Mexican food for lunch or dinner. We enjoyed the food! I had the house specialty and it was delicious! Also, I really like the hot salsa they serve with the chips. I would prefer the chips to be a little bit thinner. We would certainly eat here again! read more
