Nice place to shop if you can. Must have Military ID to get in and also for purchasing. Very clean. Clothes are kinda old fashion. Wish the buyer could choose the more modern look . Fairly small base with compared to say MCRD or Pendleton. First Air Force base I have ever been on. I was expecting the pricing of their gas and food to be on par with other bases but NOOOOOOOOOOO. Everything seemed really expensive here. Maybe it's just typical Los Angeles pricing but it seemed over the top. Fortunately I only have to come here every three months so I will not get gas here and bring my own lunch. read more

I use the commissary here. It's clean, well lit and staff is friendly and helpful. When you get there early good choices in cuts of meat. Maybe the stock is not all the brand names you might find in a 'public' market but what they have is most acceptable and for sure there is less strain on the wallet! read more

A Great Base and Convenient! Easy access to all facilities. The gym is decent and the Commissary has great deals. Everything is in close proximity. Even the gas station is in walking distance from everything else. Overall, a pretty cool place to visit! read more

Convenient it's not too far from me, I've been going to LAAFB for few years to shop and every few months get my haircuts. I like how both the BX and Commissary is close by just across parking lot from each other. At one time their gasoline was noticeably cheaper but now it's about the same price as the discount station close to my house. Also wonderful service from their discount tickets office as well as outdoor recreation particularly when I rented a kayak for the weekend. The best part for me are the routine haircuts which I always get a good cut specially from Monica. read more

Where should I start? Hmmm. I have been an employee here for over two months now and words cannot explain how grateful and privileged I feel to work for this base. Not only privileged but also thankful to all airmen soldiers marines navy and every branch that I have met and served through the job I do here. Every single client has been more than welcoming and kind; words cannot describe how grateful I am to come in every single day to work. Veterans / Enlisted are the best people to talk to and they give you the best advice about the military. They happily share their experiences and pridefully (in a good way) discuss how passionate they are when it comes to defending our country. May God bless everyone of you who have taken the time to advice me, shared your stories and tips. I hope I could also serve you better every day and that way show you how appreciative I am of your service to this country! The base is very small compared to others. Has a Comissary, Exchange with small shops and food court. Food court: Starbucks Coffee, Burger King, Charley's Philly Steaks, and a teriyaki/ sushi place. There are vendors selling phone accessories, caps with embroidery done right there and then, purses and jewelry. They have a GNC, Barbershop, Furniture store, Watch repair and OF COURSE a Cleaners! A must have because every branch must wear their uniforms nice and crisp! And definitely need an alteration every now and then lol A clinic, gym, child daycare, gas station and their offices. This was my first time here. Really didn't know what to expect. The base was small compared to others. People on here complained about the security officers, however, I did not have a problem with them at all. They were really nice to me. I grew up around the area and had no idea there was an air force base around here. The Px is pretty small but packed with stuff. I didn't end up buying anything but it was nice to be able to look around. I thought there were a lot of merchandise here but was told that this was one of the smaller ones around. Nice place! Although i come here mainly to use the fitness center, the base has much to offer. The PX includes a nice little Barber shop, GNC, Starbucks, a food court, a store very similar to Walmart but with a much better electronics section & a few vendors selling phone cases etc. There is also a gas station on base that has great prices, a commissary (Grocery Store) & the gym! up to date equipment, 2 flat bench presses, 1 incline, 1 decline, ALOT of Dumbells, & several other weight machines. Then theres the cardio room. 3 stairmasters , a ton of treadmills & a small stretching area. oh, theres also an outside basketball court too ! this place is awesome & im lucky to have a military girlfriend to get me in =] read more

Los Angeles Air Force Base - Weight room. Up to date equipment! - Public Services & Government Near Me - El Segundo, California

This is the closest Air Force Base (to my home and work) and since my daughter is a dependent, I have to take her there at least once a month (for the Clinic and Pharmacy). It is surrounded by many aerospace and defense corporations as well as located only a few miles from LAX. This base is relatively small compared to others I've grown up at or have visited but it is clean, well landscaped, has almost everything you need if you are active duty, retired, reserves or a veteran. I would give it 4 stars but the pharmacy, the ID card lab and the entrance/checkpoint is always a hassle; takes FOREVER and the civilian or airman working are indifferent. Oh and the wifi/reception is terrible. This base has a Gas Station open 24/7 and plenty of parking. read more

Very small yet Spacious Air Force Base. I Salute To The Troops! Thank You for Your Service. There is a Mini Mall, Grocery Store, Gas Station, Center for kids, Fitness Center & more. Security here is no Joke. They're not even Security I believe. I visit the base with my Cousin because she uses the Fitness Center and I workout along with her. The Base Fitness Center isn't for the public. You have to know someone that is in the service and you habe to be present with them at all times. Everything here is strict....The Rules, The Equipment, The Gurads...etc. I fitness Center to me is a Mini 24hrs fitness. They have Cycle classes & Zumba and more. There is also a nice view as you workout of the huge parking lot. Everything is up to date inside the Fitness Center as well. There is Customer Service at the entrance of the Fitness Center. Like I said it reminds me of a Mini 24hr Fitness Center. read more

I love this place! They've got a very nice gym with nice cold refreshing water an a machine that tells you your BMI! I participated in a monthly 5K put on by the gym. Everyone gets a free shirt in the end and it doesn't cost anything to participate! The ladies at the front desk are very nice. And I've never spent more than 30 second at the front gate to this place while they do an ID check. After my first time, I knew I wanted more of this place...and I've been back a few times so far! read more

The SECURITY OFFICERS (RENT A COPS) on this base have the whole dont mess with my authoritie thing going on! Their plastic badges have gone to their heads. Asking way to many questions and bordline harrassing everyone in the car for an ID. I can understand if you are working a TOP secret facility but the most info sensitive thing on this base is the gym and exchange. Everytime i come through the gate here it's a big ol problem. I am active duty with a active ID. Now they pretty much know me because as a Gunny on active duty i pass the harrasment right back at them, like any Gunny should. I will never understand the need for rent a cops on base when people join the military to be military Police. Waste of GOV $ if you ask me. Only get three stars because all of the amenities on this base not bad. read more

I only go here for the clinic for myself and my two kids. Tri care has said we have to go here because we live close enough even though it almost takes me an hour to get there. With that being said the clinic is awful. I've been trying to get an appointment for weeks! When I call no one answers. And once I finally get someone I have to wait more weeks to see my Dr. Today I had an appointment and was 15 min late because I had to drop my kids off at school and I hit unexpected traffic. Being late was my fault...I get that. But to make me wait 2+ hours to be seen seems a bit much. I would've just rescheduled but who knows when I'll be able to get back in. I'm still sitting here and more one had said a word to me. This is my worst experience with military medical care. read more

The ID counter has horrible service and you have to advocate for yourself because the tend to call people who are behind you. On top of being slow, the hours of operation seem to be irrelevant. They say they open at 8 but they didn't start seeing people until 830 and we could literally see the staff just sitting there doing nothing. Super incompetent and wastes your time! read more

I have a membership to Golds Gym, and also have access to LA AFB.. I have to admit SMC/Los Angeles Air Force Base gym can't be beat. I typically take classes or use the weights during lunch. I give an A+ for Monica's & Sarah's classes alone.. As a USAF Veteran it's nice to know we're taking care of our Active Duty and Officers. read more

I have been disabled / retired Air Force since 1979 . And have been coming here off and on for over 30 years . Before the Base Restructuring it was dated and kind of worn out , after the total Re-build of this base it is beautiful and modern to say the least . Worst clinic I been too! Today Wednesday 11th, 2017 I had worst service ever!!! Yesterday I called to schedule an Appointment for (nose bleeds, sore throat, lossing my voice, heavy caugh) when I talked to one of the receptionist I schedule for next day appointment Wednesday, she schedule for 9:30am, but I did ask her if she had anything avaible for Thursday the 12th and she said NO, because they have a 24hr window to schedule appoinemts (which is pretty stupid) anyway, and she said you would have call back tomorrow to see what openings we have for Thursday, and I told that's ok I will my appointment for tomorrow at 930am she even repeated my appoint and said ( ok I have you down for tomorrow Wednesday the 11th at 930am. Today I took day off on short nocited from work to come to my appointment and I get told by front desk my appointment is for Thursday the 12th,2017 at 930am. And I told that's not possible because the girl that set up said she couldn't set up for Thursday because of the 24hr window, I told the front desk girl well can I get seeing since am already here she NO because we have Nothing left and it was 9:10am I was even 20min early! So I talked to supervisor then she transfer me to LT then I get transfer to another lady and repeat my story to her when I could bearly talk due too losing my voice and they couldn't do anything for me! They suggested to refer me to urgent care I told her I don't want go to urgent care I want and need to get seeing am lossing my voice I don't feel good it was a 45min drive am already here! squeeze me in and prescribe me my medication . It was so up setting that a Dr. Couldn't see me , I told them that's what the clinic is here for, to be there when we need them! what's the point of having our own Clinics if their not going to do their job! Our spouses are already sacrificing their lives and living us behind on deployments.. for us (the family members) not to struggle even more for health and dental services, and to get this kind of service.
