This product had already expired on July 28, 2025, however, it was still on their shelves on October 3, 2025 when I purchased this item without realizing that it had already expired. This is such a big food safety concern and violation. The store managers should have employees inspecting the products to make sure they are still safe for their customers consumption. I don't know why I've not reviewed Los Altos Ranch Market before. I think the fact that you frequent some places commonly, you tend to put it on the back burner! Well, my last visit made me think twice about reviewing what we take for granted many times as this food market, that sometimes can run rings around some of our common go-to places locally for food, groceries and more. Los Altos Ranch Market, the one in South Phoenix on Central Avenue location in particular, is astounding in size and has a mini-mall aspect whereby everything a supermarket has as groceries, produce, meat and fish, delicatessen, dairy, yet also offers take-out from their inhouse kitchen (plus inside seating if you wish), which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a bakery and tortilleria. You can also find money services, boots and shoes, and some clothing, among quite a few other things. One of the most impressive things for me is the freshness of meats, dairy and produce, organization, cleanliness and personal service. I have yet to have any purchase returned due to lack of quality or freshness as I've had to at some area name markets. Although they are Southwestern conglomerate spanning California, Nevada and Arizona, you feel the vibe and service of a local, neighborhood and community market. The staff is mostly friendly. Everything was clearly marked and easy to find. Coming from a place where Mexican markets are plentiful, this market is refreshing as it has the Carniceria, fresh tortillas, panderia, grab and go hot food area. It's not as updated as I am used to but it still has a charming vibe. This is a smaller store, but it has all the same food as the rest. Unfortunately, the Chile Relleno was a watery mess. The breading was too thin and the pepper and cheese were drenched in a watery red liquid. The only salvation was the rice, but the price for the combo was almost 9 bucks. They did not give me straw when I bought a drink then the employee gets mad when I get my own straw‍ so much drama for a straw when they could've just gave me one when I bought the drink. Some of the employees we're also rude to me. Also there are 4 self checkouts and one was down, when people needed help the employee was to busy talking on the phone to help people out she didn't even put the phone down when she was helping people. The A/C was not working to when I was there. this is by far the worst ranchmarket I have been to, it had long lines, bad service, and no A/C. Will not be going back anytime soon. The store also has a food court with various plates and family meals, and a juice bar with freshly made juice and aguas frescas. The different types of chicharron were tempting! There are quite a few meats and vegetables you won't find at your average grocery store and everything looked very fresh and well organized. Great place to buy Latino products. I love the mexican selection of products they have available. My favorite is the tortilleria, they have a lot of tortillas selection, all made fresh daily. The produce section has great affortable choices too. I buy a lot of produce here and have not been disappointed. The meat and seafood section. Is great too. The bread from the bakery is so good. It's far tastier than the other places, it's a shame that there are always flies inside the display where the bread is. Fun fact, flies carry twice as many germs as cockroaches. I definitely would refrain from buying bread from this place. If there are flies in the bread there are more than likely flies making contact with food they sell as well. I just found something else incredible about Ranch Market, and I'm going to have to up it to 5 stars as a result. Wednesdays are special produce days, which means that tons of different produce items are on special for 3 pounds for $.99. Yes, my friends. $.99. I had seen the special pricing advertised on the flyers we get every now and then, but had been hesitant to make a special trip there in case the produce was bad-quality or ran out after, say, 10 am. Well, I went today around 1 pm, and I can tell you that the produce is neither bad-quality or gone after 10 am. There were tons of the special advertised items, and 90% looked super-fresh. I left with 2-3 pounds of bananas, tomatoes, peaches, key limes, and avocados, all of which cost me a mere $5.62. And just think - just yesterday, I spent $2 for 3 tomatoes at Whole Foods. I'll definitely be back at least every other Wednesday to snag some of these special deals. read more

I was a regular costumer for over 8 years and today was the last day I purchased there. The service in the kitchen is the horse. The PAN has very poor selection and lately I had seen flies inside the main pan shelves. Today I was treated very poorly by 3 kitchen employees. It is as amazing as the other location, but more important for me, when I first moved into my house it was the closest grocery store. I had no idea what to expect when I walked into the place. WOW! It was like a happy assault on my senses. You walk right into their bakery section and the view of the cakes and deserts combining with the smell of sweet breads and cinnamon was kinda like love at first sniff. Their veggie section is second only to AJ's in my mind - but for less than 1/2 the price. And while my girlfriend has always been picky about where she would buy fruit and meat - this is her favorite place to get meat and seafood in town. Minus one star for the parking - which is never pleasant, the fact that I'm occasionally surprised by what they don't have, and since this location isn't quite as popular w/ the gringo's yet in some departments you can't find someone who can speak even limited English as my high school Spanish does NOT help me here. The English part is slowly changing and now I can always be sure to at least check out with someone who is bi-lingual. As my neighbor said when I took them here "Wow! I describe Ranch Market as the Disneyland of Supermarkets. Seriously, this is not the place to shop too late at night or you'll never get to sleep from all the excitement you just experienced! The music is loud, the lights bright and festive, and the smell of the food makes your mouth salivate. I mainly shop here for three things: 1) I always buy my nieces birthday cakes there. The price is fantastic for a customized cake for kids. The selection is incredible! 2) If you are familiar with the Mexican baked goods - this place is a one stop shop! For for a nice change from traditional french bread, try a "bolillo" (a Mexican roll). 3) Rotisserie Chicken. But ....just so you know...the produce is great and less costly than Frys. Two warnings . First it's difficult to get in and out of the Ranch Market on S. Central on the weekends -- it's VERY VERY CROWDED! Second, this is an "ethnic" experience. My husband, a "gringo," has, on occasion, encountered some language barrier challenges, but has always been successful in navigating it. - so don't let it stop you! The Ranch Market is always on the tour for out-of-town-guests who visit us from the East Coast. I liked it here. I had never been before, but I was buying a cake from my niece and my tia recommended that I go here. I'm from California and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the store. From the outside parking lot, you would think otherwise. There is a sitting area by the produce section where you can enjoy your meal. Everything looks pretty fresh. The prices are higher than where I live, but most things are more expensive in AZ than Cali I've noticed. I purchased a tres leches cake from the bakery and had them write on it. It was really good. I like mine more soggy, but not everyone does. The cake had a layer of chocolate cake on the bottom, a strawberry cream in the middle, and the vanilla leche cake on top. The frosting was light and delicious. I would love to come and have tacos here next time we visit. read more

I really, really like Ranch Market. It takes me a minute to get past the ghetto parking lot and blaring tejano music, but once I do I'm rewarded with an ultra-fresh (and enormous) produce department, an expansive meat and seafood department and a captivating deli which includes tons of salsas and a fresh tortilla factory. Bright colors, hand-painted signs, pinatas, balloons and piles of freshly prepared food make me want to party right in-store with an agua fresca in hand. :) I would love to have such a festive ethnic supermarket in my hometown. My family stopped by to pick up a birthday flan (incidentally, the largest flan I've ever seen in my life- it must've weighed at least 6 lbs) for my youngest niece. We couldn't help but leave with that- plus some excellent posole, Mexican rice, watermelon agua frescas, horchata and a few avocados.
