So, I sent an email to them and boy am I glad I did! Adam promptly responded and connected me with the store manager, Matt. Matt was a pleasure to work with and the entire process from purchase to delivery was a snap. And not only was it a snap, but the grill was assembled and delivered (right on time by Jerry and placed exactly where I wanted it so it would be a surprise) on the day before Christmas without extra charge. Tyler talked with the manager, Andy, and he said $75 is the minimum but when you bring it back, we can take some off the $75. I rented it for one hour and 10 minutes, from pick up to drop off. I asked for a discount and Andy said our minimum rental price for a log splitter is $75. Wow. It is not so much the money as it is the character reflection. Lack of integrity.

They carry most of the items I usually need, and I really appreciate the drive-through area for loading lumber. It makes a big difference when you're buying long or heavy pieces. Stopped in today with a friend who needed some lumber. We were able to find enough straight 2x4s for his project, which is always a small victory when digging through a stack.

During every visit, I have had to try and get help from an associate as they seem to either all be sitting in the back break area, or they don't volunteer to help. Each visit has left me with different answers from different associates. Foolishly, I ultimately purchased two gallons of their top of the line Emerald paint and was very disappointed not only with the poor and uneven coverage (after two coats on a clean, lightly textured, new drywall surface), but also with the color. I was told by an associate that I could not return the paint, but that they would replace it with a different color; when I went in with my unopened and unused gallon of paint to exchange for another color, the associates in the store said they don't do any such thing. Save yourself the trouble and try Ace Hardware instead. Their customer service is far superior, they have knowledgeable and helpful staff, and they have much better quality paints at a better price.

We never cover our pieces during Chicagoland winters and merely hose them down in the spring. The product is of such superior quality that we can't determine which pieces are older and which are newer. Recently, there was a minor mistake with this year's order, and that's when we truly learned of the superior quality provided by their service department. We were treated with pleasant professionalism and our order was promptly corrected. By The Yard is a wise investment which we highly recommend.

We've been using it the entire summer and all have held up wonderfully and they are very comfortable. We wanted the swivel/rocking chairs with footrests and so glad we did splurge for those. Also - the table/chairs are so easy to clean. I thought the showroom in Vernon Hills was great - everyone was very nice and let us walk around and try out the furniture. So - the kicker and why it's 4 and not 5 stars. The delivery and assembly. We live in a high rise downtown and they will only deliver to your bottom lobby level. It will come assembled but what you don't think about immediately is that a door width is only 36". If it had come assembled, it wouldn't be able to fit inside our condo to go to the balcony. This is no issue if you're delivering to a house b/c you just go straight to the backyard. But a condo - very different. So - we had it come in boxes and we opted to assemble after the showroom told us it was very easy. First off - the furniture is extremely heavy - hence the excellent quality! And it was not easy to assemble for my husband/myself. Talking with customer service, they told us to just shove pieces together and it will work. After spending $1800 for the furniture - I wasn't willing to do that. So I called the store and they came out and put it together on our balcony. We are forever grateful for that and while it's easy for some to put together - this wasn't an easy endeavor. Just something to think about if you live in a condo. With all that being said - I would order from By the Yard again b/c I think the company/staff and furniture are of great quality.
