THIS IS A VERY LONG REVIEW, BUT VERY WORTHWHILE. Please read! I first met Dr. Tan about a year ago, and was blown away with how kind and understanding she was. My previous doctors could hardly compare to her, as I felt like she truly wanted to help me and I wasn't just another patient she had to get through so she could go home. But throughout this past year, her negligence and lack of complete evaluation has caused extreme health problems for me. This is not a review to defame her, but only one to warn others that when she is in a rush and there are patients after you, you will most likely experience an unpleasant and rushed visit. In the beginning of 2018, I caught several colds and a stomach bug that was going around. I was already on antibiotics for a bladder infection and was having horrible stomach pains. Dr. Tan knowingly prescribed me another set of antibiotics to treat my "unknown stomach bug," which caused me to become very ill and ruined my GI system because I was taking 2 different medications at the same time. I still felt that she was a caring doctor and continued going to her, and wrote this event off as a simple mistake because we are all human. Then in August 2018, I went to her for my intense menstrual cramps, asking her to refill my prescription of pain medication (naproxen). Instead, she advised I take 2 Aleve every 4 hours as they are technically the same medicine. While my family and I were on vacation, I took the medicine as she prescribed me to for a few days while I was experiencing extremely painful cramps. I am not a doctor (although I do admit it is my fault for not double checking or making sure the dosage was correct), but I had ruined my stomach lining by "overdosing" on Aleve. I was forced to go to the ER after several weeks of horrible stomach pain, made worse when eating. I lost over 10 pounds in less than 2 weeks, and this continued over a course of several months where I had to recover. Nearly 6 months later, I am still recovering from my gastrointestinal issues caused by Dr. Tan's error, and find it very hard to enjoy eating as my body can no longer process foods I was very easily able to consume before. I've always had issues with my GI tract, but this event has only made it worse. In addition to all this, the ER doctor advised me to skip my period for several months so I could avoid taking pain meds and allow my stomach lining to heal. I had to go to Dr. Tan for this, explaining everything. She saw no problem with her original prescription of 2 Aleve every 4 hours, even though the ER doctors were horrified when I told them I had been taking that much medicine. Dr. Tan told me that my current birth control (which I had been taking to control my irregular periods and menstrual cramps) would allow me to skip my period if I kept taking the pills continually. I did this and didn't have a period for 2 months which was great! And then I randomly got my period one day and it didn't stop for 7 WEEKS. Turns out Dr. Tan, yet again, made an error and the type birth control I use does NOT allow me to skip my period like that as it releases a different set of hormones each week, which confused my body. My birth control was clearly listed on my chart, and as a doctor she should have double-checked or found out if I was capable of skipping my period with that specific pill. Her overwhelming amount of patients and lack of time to carefully listen to you leads to extreme inconveniences for her patients. If your illness is anything more serious than the common cold or flu, I recommend you do not visit her. Take the time to see a specialist who can accurately and thoroughly diagnose and help you, as Dr. Tan was simply not equipped to deal with my symptoms and caused a hailstorm of additional problems that could've easily been avoided if she had taken just a little bit more time and patience. read more
