I've been a customer of Lord's Cleaners for approximately eight years now. Always have gotten good service from them and I loved being able to just call in the morning and, given that they have my phone number on file. I could just ask for a pick up and they come pick up and drop off very efficiently. I have had the bad luck of having a number of debit cards lost and/or stolen over the past year and have had to replace them each time. Each time I've gotten calls with requests to update with the new card number and did so in response. This happened again recently, and when I called to give them the new number, they said that there was no delivery that day and I would have to come to the store to pick up my cleaning (claiming the store closed at 6pm. When I got to the store, the woman said they would no longer deliver because there were "problems with my credit cards", this after eight years of steady business. The woman seemed very unconcern when I told her I could take my business elsewhere. Not a great way to treat a good customer after 8yrs of business. read more

Turned Away because I couldn't pay upfront for future dry cleaning services Lords may do great cleaning but I wouldn't call them good neighbors. I pass Lords on my daily walks so decided to try their neighborhood business instead of driving to my regular cleaner. So today I gathered several sweaters and walked up there in the snow, only to learn that customers must pay for their services in advance! I generally don't carry $ on my walks and have never encountered this policy at a cleaners (and I'm a retiree who has been to many). Instead of dropping off my clothes, and perhaps becoming a new customer, I had to carry them right back home. Regular customers may be used to their very *unusual* policy and trust them to care for their garments, but I bet I'm not the first person they have turned away because they were unprepared to pay up front. I was told that this hasn't always been their policy but I don't know when it began. read more

I have this rugby shirt that i LOVE. Green and white stripes with a glowing white collar. It makes my eyes and skin pop, my boobs look fantastic and I feel like a million with jeans and some flip flops. But I didn't want to throw it in the washing machine and loose that white collar and great white stripes. So off the the dry cleaners! They will clean my favorite shirt and not let the color bleed! Cut to two days later when I get a shirt with green stripes, BLUE stripes and a BLUE COLLAR. They ruined my life. And no, I am not overdoing it. read more

Lord's is the absolute best, and has never let me down. Items always ready when promised, but they are careful with your clothing, and will warn you if your red striped shirt is apt to fade in laundry. A highly rated Chinese restaurant, and s wonderful Armenian food store are adjacent, across Belmont street from Magnolia wine, a fourth great place. I've been to this cleaner about 10 times, for alterations and cleaning, and they're great. The woman who works the counter is really sweet--I overheard her offering to drop off a garment to a regular customer's house overnight, because he was leaving for a business trip in the morning, and her husband wanted to try one more time to get out a stain--and they managed to get out a stain on my suit jacket that another cleaner had already failed to get rid of. One more thing...the one-star review for this cleaner is really a great example of why Yelp is getting a bad name. No one cares about how a garment made your eyes pop, because when you take a piece of clothing to a dry cleaners, that isn't a "dry clean only" garment, they launder it. They're not supposed to dry clean it. So if it was going to bleed in your washing machine, it's going to bleed in theirs. Plenty of people dump bad, borderline pretentious Yelp reviews on restaurants without understanding how reservations work, why some nights are busier than others, etc., and this is more of the same. read more

Although they couldn't get the pit stains out of a linen dress I brought in (it HAD been festering, unwashed, in my closet for over a year and they were upfront about it being a hard-to-resolve stain), I still think Lord's is great. The main customer service woman is friendly and super patient -- she'll let you try on clothes, adjust pins, etc, without being pushy. I've had pants hemmed here and dresses dry cleaned and everything has come out nicely. read more

My husband and I have been very happy with Lords. The service is quick and very friendly. The lady at the counter goes to grab your clothes as soon as she sees you coming through the door. They have done a great job with all our clothes both for dry cleaning and alterations. My husband has had alterations on hems and had a jacket taken in. He was pleased with the work on both. I have been going to Lords dry cleaners for years until I moved to other state. Several years later, I visited Boston area for the conference and I had to have an urgent dry cleaning service. I went to Lord's cleaning and Jun was still there. Surprisingly, she even remembered my full name and welcomed me with a big smile. She helped me with what I needed. They still have a very reasonable price while they providing the best quality of service ever. I moved from Melrose, MA to Belmont a little over a year ago. I loved the cleaning service I had in Melrose so it was important to find a service in my new neighborhood that would meet my standards. I did some shopping around and finally found this gem of a business. Not only were the prices the best, but the customer service was fantastic. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I had some alterations done as well which came back perfect. Every piece of garment cleaned has never been disappointing. This place is awesome. I've been to many dry cleaners in the Belmont area and most of them have horrible customer service skills. We've become regulars at this place. The lady at the sales counter is very attentive. She did a great job mending the lining I ripped in my Business Suite. Considering it was a hard spot to repair, $12 was totally worth it. read more

This service is wonderful! We have used them for years -- for dry cleaning and for dress-shirt laundering. Always impeccable results. A Chinese friend gave us a silk-stuffed quilt. The label cautioned against both dry-cleaning and washing. Following a puppy accident, we enlisted the fine people at Lords to help. They worked with us, and returned the quilt in pristine condition, at a very reasonable price. read more

Excellent service and craftsmanship! The couple (?) who run the business are extremely courteous and pleasant. We've taken clothes in for cleaning and the prices are quite reasonable. Alterations are a little pricey, but that's true everywhere and the *quality* of the work here is excellent. I've had several pairs of pants taken in and alterations on a formal evening gown. In every case, they had as many fittings as necessary to get a great end result. I actually think the owner cares quite a bit more about the outcome on alterations than I did! She really wanted it to be perfect and it looked great in the end. 10/10 would recommend! read more
