So initially it felt like I was walking into a very well presented, classy and very pubby looking Narnia. And I did find an animal in there - a small dog and his well chewed tennis ball. This dog was a regular, we know because the friendly barman told us. Staff were really friendly and I got the feel of a family owned business. We got our food quickly (which was good because I was quite hungry) but this also could have been because we were the only ones in the front bar (except for the dog). We went for a pub classic, the Schnitzel, which at $17.90 was one of the cheapest meals on the menu. How was the schnitzel? well... the beer battered chips were amazing!! The schnitzel was quite bland and my partner who had the parmy said that the cheese had no flavour. However, he REALLY likes cheese. I think it would be a great front bar area for a fun, busy night and the function rooms look amazing - decked out with fairy lights and modern decor. If you're looking for a different pub to all the obvious ones around town, head to the Kentish Arms for a drink or some chips. Give the dog a pat for me! I forgot to!

Outside are another 6 or so tables of 4 with a temporary gazebo over the top, and heaters and rugs to keep you warm. Looking east over a small park, this will be a winner in the warmer months. The food menu was designed by Andre of Masterchefiness, and although I've only had a sample of the tasting plate, the menu includes larger dinner options such as a robust ragu. It's all fresh and seasonal and I'm looking forward to dinner soon. The staff are friendly and convivial and more than happy to oblige with requests. The inside tables (3) can be booked, but staff are happy for you to use until reservation time. If you want to kick on & there's a few of you it would be best to book. Inside fills fast and it's noisy, so if you want a more intimate chat get there early (5pm Wed-Fri & 2pm Sunday) or sit outside, but otherwise enjoy the excitement shared by locals of a venue that fills a missing gap for the locals.

La Sing is one of the few late-night karaoke places in Adelaide where you don't have to pay for a…read moreprivate booth. Which kind of explains why it resembles a mafia den. The system works as follows: you have a look through the plastic folders of songs (the choices are pretty good - old and cheesy is what you want in karaoke), write down your choice on a little slip of paper and deliver it to the DJ who sits behind a big desk at the back of the room. And then wait to see if your song will ever get played. I have had some really great times here, but I've noticed that certain groups of people tends to dominate the songs that get played. If you arrive with a big enough group, or it's a weeknight, you have a much better chance of getting your songs played. The staff can also be really horrible. Once I came in and was sitting at a table waiting for my friends who were two or three minutes behind me, and a staff member came up and said, "This isn't a lounge room, order a drink". So obviously they get annoyed with patrons who don't spend enough on food or drinks. I keep coming back though, and I have a good time even when they don't play my songs. Last weekend I burnt my fingers holding my lighter up and swaying. Apart form the mostly tragic, there is also an element of naturally good amateur performers who frequent the place - like the guy who looks like Alec Baldwin, and the short asian guy with a voice like Frank Sinatra. You probably don't NEED to be on a hens night to do this though, any excuse will do...birthday, anniversary, champagne Thursday, vodka Friday, tequila Saturday....really, all seven days of the week would be fine by me! La Sing is where you end up at the end of the night, if you have at least a little class running through you. If you are completely un-classy, like me, you'll start your night here, head off for a while and somehow find your way back. It's a dive, you have to wait AGES to have your song played but in the meantime you'll have the time of your life drinking, doing shots and dancing like a dancing queen - you'll probably even end up, somehow, eating their 'kinda gross but actually tasty at 2am' chicken wings. You will not regret it. You will not be judged. You will have a fan-freakin-tastic night.

Located in the heart of Adelaide directly across from the Adelaide casino, it is an fantastic place for a formal gathering with friends. The balcony is located above the Strathmore hotel. You pay a little bit extra for the atmosphere, such as a formal setting and a beautiful view of the adjacent casino and festival centre. The food... Amazing stone grilled dining isn't all you get at The Balcony, you awesome receive on point service by waiting staff who are more than happy to accommodate diners. The staffs also help you with the stone grilling process, and it is vital to listen to them unless you want an overcooked well-done steak (which is a sin). I ordered the seafood collection to stone grilled, and I must say is something else. The food was well garnished and the flavours were brought out on the stone slab. My friends ordered the steaks and managed to stuff up on the stone grilling (amateurs). Overall, absolutely fantastic food and services and is a great place to dine on any special occasion that wouldn't kill your wallet. Would definitely be back!

Well, that has now been rectified, as well as the fact that I have now been here and had a drink. My thoughts: well it was okay, but not one of the best places I've been. The staff certainly weren't the friendliest. However the pig statue with a table on its head was really cool. Oh, it's also next to one of the university boarding houses so expect the uni students to flock here during term time.

The presentation is very English with a wonderful wooden bar and big wine barrels to prop your drink on. It is a small space, the venue posesses two levels each catering for a maximum of around 100 people. The downstairs area houses a central bar and tables and chairs around the space seating a maximum of around 50. This is the usual space for lunch service. They only serve meals from 11:30 to 2pm monday to friday, so it's a real suits-having-a-pub-lunch kinda place. They hire the upstairs and downstairs spaces out for functions, which is their main weekend business, I'm not sure that they even open to the public on the weekend? Function prices are mid-range, but keep in mind that they don't have an outdoors area, so perhaps not an appropriate venue for smokers. Wine list is quite small and everything seems to hover around the $30 - $45 mark (they are a little overpriced, but hey - what city pub isn't a little inflated) A couple of special bottles on - oldschool favourite Rockford's Basket Press Shiraz and of course perennially popular with the ladies Rockford's Alicante Bouchet.
