This spot in Tijuana is a classic Spanish joint. I hadn't been there in a while, so I was pretty excited to give it another shot. However, our experience was a bit off, to say the least. First, one of the servers offered us drinks, and when we inquired about their wines by the glass, he didn't have a clue. No big deal, he went to check with another server (I guess the lead server) who also seemed lost about their wine selection. We wanted to try a specific wine, but the lead server kept insisting it was too pricey and initially refused to serve it. We had to really push for it, and it felt like we were being pranked. He then proceeded to apologize and blame the other server (who was doing a way better job than him) because he was new, that was extremely unprofessional.
Things got more interesting when our food order came around. Out of the four items we ordered (ensalada calahonda, chistorra, alchachofas con jamon serrano, and patatas bravas) only one was correct. Instead, they brought us aceitunas, croquetas and champiñones. We were one of only three tables in the restaurant, and none of the others had ordered what we got. You'd think after repeating our order countless times, they'd get it right. The lead server seemed all over the place when taking our order, and I'm pretty sure he wrote down the wrong items.
Another server had to retake our order, and this time we got three out of four items right. We decided not to make a fuss because we were starving. Now, about the food, if it wasn't as delicious as it was, I would've given this place a low rating. Everything was on point! The fried mollejas were my favorite (ironically, it was the item they got wrong). We also tried the paella, which was perfectly seasoned and super creamy. Despite de confusing service, it's a great spot for tapas and wine. The atmosphere is warm, and I'd love to come back when they have live music. We had a good laugh about the whole experience in the car. read more
