Also just happened to visit a gallery the day before the closing date of the three artists, so they invited us to the closing! So much personal attention, and they took the time to give background on all the artists. Stopped by the store and meandered around the new exhibits until my artist friend found the perfect gift for an upcoming birthday! Will make an effort to come visit more often because the artists and exhibitions change constantly and they're is always something to suit every taste.

BAM = Beer, Art & Music, a perfect combination on a sunny afternoon. 18th Street was closed off to provide parking for food trucks & bicycles. I saw The Green Truck there, as well as Border Grille. 20 breweries donated beer from booths set up in a private courtyard flanked by galleries, where 4 bands provided live music. I only had time to stay for an hour, so I missed all the bands except Speedway (alone worth the trip from Redondo!). The event was packed but very well-organized. A bike valet was looking out for the crapload of parked bicycles. Maybe the reason I had no problem finding a spot for my car was because so many people rode their bikes. Beer and music were included in the price of admission ($35 advance, $40 at the door). All proceeds went toward funding spaces for artists to work & show their work.....a very good cause. The arts need support, especially in rough economic times. The festival attracted a great crowd. Despite all the free-flowing beer, people were upbeat without a hint of rowdiness. I love a good party on a Sunday afternoon and I'm guessing I'll be back next year when I will try to allow more time to hang out and enjoy the day.

There was a work of art that I had my eye on for the past few years. I didn't see it displayed, so I asked the person managing the front desk if it was still available. Fortunately, it was. He allowed me to speak to the owner over the phone regarding the price. The owner, Erica, was very pleasant and patient, and answered all my questions. She also gave me a discount off the work. Because there was LA county tax which had to be added, she gave me a better discount than the one she originally quoted to the front desk employee. It was especially generous of her, since I was a first time buyer and not a repeat customer. They don't bother you or hover over you at the Copro Gallery; you're free to take your time and browse. If you have any questions about a particular artwork; don't be shy, feel free to ask.

After contacting several places, Adamm's was the only one I found who carried this type of glass and was able to replace and install it. The owner was fantastic to work with. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient, and he replaced and repaired all of the panels in about an hour! The finished result looks beautiful and his prices are very reasonable. He was a pleasure to work with, and his daughter was incredibly sweet as well. It's so nice to find a family business with such great customer service and specialized expertise.
