I saw dr. Pond until my insurance changed and did not cover her. She was great - I felt like I received good care.

Before deciding to move forward with Dr. Kim, I had 'interviewed' several laser centers and, as I'm…read moresure it is the case when selecting ANY doctor for your elective procedure, it all comes down to how comfortable you feel and how much it is all going to cost. In terms of comfort: I have to admit, Pacific Vision Care in San Francisco was a little more welcoming (the waiting area is more reminiscent of a day spa than a doctors office), but the price was $2000 more than what Dr. Kim had quoted and didn't include the antibiotic drops. Same machine... I checked. Dr. Kim was able to provide a similar level of comfort at a greatly reduced rate and being that the office is located inside of a medical center, the antibiotic drops were included and ready for me right after my procedure. A few tips for those of you who are interested in doing Lasik with Dr. Kim: 1) You will read about Halos and Starbursts and you WILL get them for at least a couple of months after your surgery, but trust in Dr. Kim when he tells you that they will go away. 2) The surgery takes 15 minutes! 3) Your eyes will feel like someone poured sand in them (and will peak at 3 hours after your surgery) and you won't be able to do a thing about it since your eyes will have guards taped to them, which you will have to wear every night before bed for 10 days. 4) Even though they give you a Valium to calm your nerves before the surgery (I needed two) and one more after the surgery, ask for extra! If you don't know why you'll need it, see number 3. 5) Load up on eye drops. Dr. Kim has a stash, and if you ask nicely, I'm sure he will give some up. Otherwise, Costco has them for cheap. 6) Waking up the next morning and being able to see 20/20 was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Great doctor. Highly recommended.

The last 3 years I saw him, I expressed concern that my left eye vision was progressively impaired with blank spots. He shrugged it off, saying it was just floaters. I finally went to a new opthalmologist. At my first visit with my new dr I was advised that I have retinal toxicity in both eyes and that the toxicity is quite progressed in my left eye as a result of taking hydroxychloroquine. It took 4 months for Dr Kim's office to transfer all my records. When they were reviewed by my new dr, it was clear that I had developed the retinal toxicity years before and Dr Kim had missed the diagnosis each of those years. I now have irreparable damage to my vision, and have been referred to a retinal specialist. Had Dr Kim diagnosed the toxicity when it first appeared on the scans, I would have stopped taking hydroxychloroquine then and my vision would not have been impaired. Dr Kim is either incompetent and doesn't know how to identify retinal toxicity, or he just doesn't care. Please take care of yourselves and stay away from Dr Kim!

Dr. Bansal and his team are truly phenomenal!…read more I've been wearing glasses and contacts for over 20 years and decided I finally wanted to pursue vision correction surgery. I came in for a consultation and after a thorough eye examination, I was notified that due to my high prescription and thin corneas, I was not eligible for Lasik, SMILE or PRK but was eligible for ICL (Implantable Collamer Lenses). I had not previously heard of ICL so the optometrist explained to me that it is a newer (at least in the U.S.) procedure during which micro incisions are made on the eyes and permanent lenses are inserted. The cost is significantly more than the other types of procedures ($11,800) but I was able to pay for half and then finance the other half through CareCredit. I was able to schedule my procedure for the following month after my initial consultation. Dr. Bansal was very transparent during my pre-op appointment and notified me that due to my high prescription and a genetic deformity in my right eye, I would not be able to get to 20/20 vision but would get close. The procedure itself was a breeze and completely painless. I was given Ativan and numbing eye drops. The longest part was waiting for my eyes to completely dilate in the surgery waiting room. I actually fell asleep in there until I was woken up and notified that it was surgery time. The procedure took less than 3 minutes per eye - it was extremely quick! I did not feel any pain, but did feel a little bit of pressure. The most uncomfortable part was having to stare up at an extremely bright light while Dr. Bansal performed the surgery. As soon as it was over and I was wheeled into the recovery room, my vision was already clear! My contact lens prescription was -9.00 in my left eye and -7.00 in my right, so the fact that I could already see pretty clearly right after surgery was incredible. Recovery has been easy. I did experience some blurriness/cloudiness and fluctuations in my vision for the first couple of days, but my vision gradually became more clear. At my one-week post-op exam, my vision was 20/25 in my left eye and 20/30 in my right which is better than what I thought would be possible. I now wake up in the morning and can immediately see and it feels like a miracle. It's now been two weeks since my procedure and I feel comfortable driving. I am absolutely thrilled by my corrected vision and am very pleased with the results! If you're on the fence about getting vision correction surgery, get it done at LaserVue! The team here is amazing and made me feel very comfortable about the entire thing!

For a fee. 1) You will be given one-sided information about LASIK. 2) If you have a higher correction, you will have to wear glasses again in the future. 3) They will not tell you this. 4) The Surgeon who does your operation is contracted by PLEC, there will be a disconnect between PLEC and the Surgeon resulting in confusion for your after surgery follow up. 5) If you contact PLEC after the surgery they will not answer any questions and refer you to the Surgeon, who will require you to make an appointment and visit their office at additional cost to you. 6) They will attempt to have you finance through GE Care Credit, which appears as a Credit Card on your Credit reports. They will not disclose this. You can not use this card as you would a normal Credit Account and this results in a variety of issues for you in the event that you apply for other credit. I.E... home loans, auto finance or opening other CC accounts. It basically looks like you have x-amount of credit available to you or if it's just after surgery like you have a Maxed Out Credit Card, but it's unusable anywhere but Doctors, Dentists and Vets who accept GE Care Credit. I honestly regret choosing PLEC for my LASIK procedure. The Operator (Sal) is very cordial but he's a Salesman, not a Doctor. PLEC basically owns the LASIK equipment and has local Eye Surgeons come in and perform your procedure for them. I recommend finding a Surgeon who owns and operates their own clinic and uses full disclosure .

I believe I'm what one refers to as "crap" when it comes to wearing contacts. I had the type you can leave in for one month. You're supposed to take them out and clean them every couple days. Sadly, I have no concept of time. Long story short, I ended up with infections, etc... I decided to go for lasik and asked my ophthalmologist for a recommendation. He sent me to Pacific. First I had to find out if I was a candidate. I went to the clinic, where I spoke with the very nice receptionist gal and met with the clinic director, Sal Moreno, who seemed to know just about everything when it came to lasik. He's pretty frank; there are no guarantees and he makes sure you're aware of that. Once they'd determined I was a candidate, I came in and was acquainted with the operating room and got to check out all the equipment. Sal outlined exactly what would happen on the day of surgery. They also sent me home with printed instructions. Although, I felt pretty confident after the tour. I really appreciate that they take you into the area and show you everything. It makes the whole experience a bit less surreal. My surgeon was Dr Rich. Earlier, I'd had my friend, an ophthalmologist in another area, check out both surgeons at Pacific and she'd given me the thumbs up. So, in I went. They offered a couple types of sedatives. Oh, gee, I forgot to mention you aren't anaesthetized. When I first learned that (several months ago from a friend), I couldn't believe it. "Wait a minute! Hold on. You're telling me they use a laser on your eyeball while you're freakin' staring at it?!" Insert casual shrug from friend. "Yeah, but I couldn't feel it." "Oh sure", I thought. "Riiiight." Well, it turns out it's true. Anyway, I had the milder sedative, because for some crazy reason, I wasn't worried. That's probably due to all the information provided and the preparation I'd gone through with Pacific. Plus, I have the emotional IQ of a kumquat. Hah, just kidding. More like a stick of balsa wood. Moving right along... The actual procedure was exactly as Dr Rich and Mr Moreno had described to me. The worst part was the device that holds your eyeball. It's a bit painful, but mostly just feels really weird. The procedure is really fast. Dr Rich and Mr Moreno are a well oiled machine, moving efficiently and confidently, but ever so carefully. They describe what's going on and chat comfortably together. I felt I was in good hands. The first thing I said after the procedure was, "I can see your facial features!" It was pretty amazing. But, boy was I tired. My buddy drove me home and I snoozed and then listened to podcasts and audiobooks to amuse myself... no reading! (I'm a big reader.) I was religious about the eye drops. My eyes healed well. Dr Rich warned me, as did my ophthalmologist, that my eyesight would continue to adjust and change, which it did. It's been two months now and I'm very happy I had lasik. My experiences at Pacific were definitely of the five-star variety. I highly recommend them!

Dr. Moussa spent the time to explain the prescription options to me that she felt I would benefit from, based on my day to day. She was also very enthusiastic about doing so. I did not feel rushed. The only recommendation I would make would be to have more variety of frames. In the past, selecting frames was a time consuming, fun affair, as there were SO many different styles to choose from. Now the frames are, for the most part, functional pieces rather than extensions of anyone's particular personality. I still found frames that I am very happy about but not so many that I had to buy two because I couldn't decide. All in all, great experience. I appreciate their care and time spent with me.
