We contracted Winstom to remove bifold closet doors, knock down a small partition wall and add three sliding doors for our closet. We agreed on price (as outlined on the invoice) and paid the deposit for the three doors needed for the space. Yesterday, 2/12/22 has been 23 days for this never ending project to be completed. Where do we even start; from the moment the doors arrived, they were painted with regular wall paint that get dirty by just touching them, they had chip marks because of how they were transported to our residence. Winstom repainted them with semi gloss paint on site and could never get the paint evened out. They used some type of plaster with a net covering over the hole in the wall that they removed. After it dried and was sanded, the net was visible and the plaster was uneven. They came back, took the doors back to the shop, claiming that they needed to be "professional painted" and not by hand. Well, shouldn't this have been his first approach given that he is a "professional" and does this type of work for a living? There was an additional fee of $450 to get the doors professionally painted which we agreed upon to have this mess finished. Winstom also agreed to fix his mistake of plastering with the net and plaster vs. actual drywall to reach the smooth finish and additional payment for that was never discussed. Mind you, it was his mistake, not ours. When he left yesterday, he said it would look good the next morning, which clearly wasn't the case. Kept blaming my condos old drywalls as the reason that he couldn't get it to match and asked for another $200 for materials to fix his own mess that he caused AND that after he left wasn't fixed either. On top of the mess with the patching up of the wall, the line where the wall meets the opening of the closet is so uneven that it looks like a kid drew a wavy line. But again, we were told that it's my condos old drywall that caused the mess. Oh, and the doors, after they were brought back from their professional paint job were stacked one next to each other which caused the paint to chip off on the corners and scruff marks can also be seen from how they were transported. Stay away from phony contractors, who have no accountability, blaming everything around them as to why they cannot perfect the job, do not respect your time by telling you they will show up on a certain date and time, only to be notified the night before that they cannot make it and want to charge you extra money to try and fix their own mistakes. 23 days later and back to square one to get someone to do this the right way. I should send him an invoice to cover the cost of the repairs. read more
