I've gone to Round 1 Burbank a couple times since it opened a few years back. Being someone who…read moregrew up with the fighting game arcade culture of the 90s and 2000s, I was THRILLED to see that had cabs for many Capcom FGs like Capcom vs SNK 2, MvC2, SF3 Third Strike, and even newer titles like Street Fighter V. Now if they had some Tekken cabs, then everything would be perfect. They also had lots of music games and racing games like Maximum Tune. The arcade part itself elevates my score for this place. With my recent trip as part of a group of parents planning for an impromptu after party for the cast and crew for the St Genevieve Parish Schools Musical production's closing weekend, I was amazed at how the Round 1 crew were receptive to our needs. We reserved a karaoke party room for about 30 kids. Louis took down my number for the reservation, and he was very nice and accommodating. We did have to wait about an hour for our party room to be ready, which was fair. Meanwhile, my group of teens entertained themselves with MULTIPLE takes on the photo booths, surely to satiate their social media needs. When the karaoke room was ready, fun and memories were made not just for them, but also the parents. Truly a wonderful time. Now for the dark side of this review. Though Louis was awesome, he did mention that I should get a text within 5 minutes confirming my reservation. It was almost 30 minutes and still never received a text, and when I talked to Louis about it, he said that I had to connect to the Round 1 wifi in order to receive text updates. Rather unintuitive, I thought. But Louis did assure me that it didn't affect my place in line, which was good to know. Also, the thing that brings my score down... the food. I ordered the buffalo wings. Not only were the wings not of size, but the watery buffalo sauce was just thrown in that I may as well have had a buffalo chicken soup. Also, though they did not charge me for a pitcher of water for my singing teens, they did charge the other parents that I was with for the exact same pitchers of water. At that point, I was telling myself it must have been my charm that got me free water lol. All in all, Round 1 is top notch when it comes to fun. It celebrates arcade culture of yesterday with their fighting games, music games, and driving games, while providing photo booths and claw games with kawaii merch that today's youth adores. Just please, eat somewhere else before coming here. The mall's food court right outside the entrance has some nice options. Or... just don't order the buffalo wings.

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

My only suggestion would be for them to open more than just four days in October. The theme this year is "Evil in the London Fog," and right when you enter, you feel like you've stepped into a foggy, cobblestoned, Victorian London of the past. This was my first haunted house I've ever done, and I don't like being scared. It is the perfect intro to haunted houses for someone like myself who is a scaredy cat - it was light on gore and very brief which made it manageable to walk through. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quite fast. The haunted house is built on their front yard (amazing), so you will get through it quite quickly. It is free, which is incredible for the amount of work that goes into it. However! There is a box where you can leave donations, and all proceeds go to Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter. Everyone who was working the haunt was so friendly, with fantastic themed costumes to boot. Absolutely wonderful vibes all around! They deserve no tricks and ALL the treats!

I was able to visit due to a Disney event hosted by D23 for their Jolly Holiday event. So my review is based on the D23 event of the property. First off, the time it took to get from the freeway to the parking lot was about 20 minutes. The line of cars did not move much and I believe there is only one parking structure to go into as a guest. I just knew I had to take a brief nap because I would have gotten motion sickness if I stayed awake. There was a lot of ground to cover and 90% of the event is held outdoors. If you ever participate in this event, bring a tote of some sort and your walking shoes. There were water stations all over the property. They had complimentary popcorn (salty, but good), cotton candy, candied apples (limited supply and didn't eat) that turned into sugar cookies at the end of the night (pretty good), Two hot apple cider stations, and one hot cocoa station. I tried their hot cocoa and it was not what I was expecting. It tasted burnt and didn't taste like cocoa that the parks usually sell. If it was through a 3rd party vendor, I had it towards the end of the night (maybe the batch was burnt) or maybe it was watered down coffee? Whatever it was I took one sip and threw it away. The grounds were filled with Christmas decorations and was very festive! The line for pictures with the characters were all long. There was an area for little carnival games to win prizes. The one a lot of people didn't like was the cube rolling race. That one took the longest to win and only 1 out of 4 can win. The cafeteria was lively but they ran out of a dish I really wanted. They said it will take another 15 minutes until new ones are made. I opted for the cheeseburger meal. I enjoyed the cheeseburger, but the fries were hard and not enjoyable to eat. Their vanilla cupcake was fluffy and I enjoyed the whipped frosting on top! I enjoyed the property but couldn't see or do what I wanted because I followed my party and didn't want to get left behind. The other part was the event was for 4 hours only. A good hour or so us was trying to park, walk to the check-in, then walk into the event. Getting out was also tough. We were rushed to get off the property. The security started forcing everyone to leave. I think it could have gone better?

The arcade is relatively small, but the bumper car area is quite spacious and doubles as a skating rink after 8 PM until closing, which only allows for about two hours of skating. The pricing is reasonable overall, though the skating entrance fee feels a bit steep. Arcade games are fairly priced, and the bumper car sessions offer good value. There's a dedicated seating area, but the snack bar is currently limited to just chips. Hopefully, they'll expand the menu in the future. In the meantime, it seems like bringing your own food is an option. The hallway leading to the restrooms is well-designed, and the bathrooms themselves are impressively high-tech, with some featuring two sinks on opposite sides, an interesting touch. I haven't visited with my kids yet, but it looks like we'll be making a trip soon. The real test will be whether they enjoy it. On a positive note, there's plenty of parking available on the side. Since it's only been open for about a week, it's worth giving it some time to develop.

When you go inside, you'll see many ideas built on happiness and some neat-o Disney history, too. A mini train ride around the property is also filled with little surprises to put a smile on your face. THE BACK STORY: Carolwood Barn served as Walt Disney's workshop where he spent many hours building miniatures and 1/8th scale model trains. It's been said that the barn itself is where Walt's original "imagineering" ideation sparked the inspo to create Disneyland Park. Originally, the barn was located in Holmby Hills and named after the street where he lived, which was Carolwood Drive. Later in 1999 after his passing, his daughter bequeathed Walt's hand-laid tracks to the Los Angeles Live Steamers (LALS), who maintained a rail museum in LA's Griffith Park. Fun fact: Walt was one of the founding & charter members of this locomotive enthusiast group (LALS) that formed back in 1956. So I guess the train story comes full circle. Carolwood Barn is open on the third Sunday of each month (11am-3am). Note: subject to change without notice. Admission is FREE, parking is FREE, and LALS members serve as volunteer hosts, and take you on train rides. So be nice to them, they're out there donating their time for free.
