We have a 1 year old Boxer puppy who has been going to Lopears since she was 4 months old. It has been amazing for her socialization and exercise. We absolutely trust Lopears with our pup (who is more like our baby) and we have recommended them to many people. We love dropping our dog off because we know that every time we pick her up, she will be happy and ready for a nap! We looked at some other daycares in the area, and we liked how this one didn't separate the dogs by size. They act like a real pack. Yes, big dogs can occasionally be too much for little dogs, but they have areas and a separate room to stop and rest if need be. We like that our 50 lb. dog learned how to interact with dogs of all sizes. It has made us feel comfortable taking her around friends' and family members' dogs, no matter their pet's size or age. It's also super convenient that there is a groomer attached to the building, so our dog gets her nails cut while she's at daycare. Everyone who works there really cares about these dogs and treats them like they are their own. Would definitely recommend! read more

Love this place! Recommend it all the time! My dog loves other dogs and going to Lopears is a great way for her to run around and stay socialized. There's a large indoor space with an open door to a large fenced area (potty time on the dogs schedule not the daycare's). Inside and out the dogs have plenty of room to run, jump on platforms, and play. Dogs aren't separated by size or age just as they aren't in life. Well mannered dogs don't have any trouble finding friends to play with or a quiet place to watch the action. Some of my 45 lb dogs pals have been a Great Dane, Poodle and Yorkie. It's hilarious to watch them play together. We have been weekly clients for most of the five years we've had our dog. Lopears started in a rented space on Old Galena Rd. It was super convenient for me and husband to drop off or pick up. We tried a couple other dog places when Lopears was closed while moving to the current location on Farmington Road. There is no comparison. I make the 20 minute drive to Lopears once a week because they are worth it. Period. read more

While Lopears Poochie Playground claims to have its customers' well-being in mind, please be warned to think twice before boarding your dog(s) here. When we first started it seemed fine, but be aware of the contract you are asked to sign. It only protects Laura the owner, and she does not think twice before suing her paying customers. The contract states that whether your dog is the victim or the aggressor, you will be held responsible for and and all charges. Yet, she claims damages as the owner of the facility. Even though she did not have any responsibility as the owner of the contract, she still collected as we were bound by a contract that only protected her business. Not fair business practices by any means. Plus she does not know how to separate dogs based upon their playfulness, and your dog is probably at risk. And, she will lie through her teeth when she takes you to court. And, all the court will care about is that you signed her contract, which, again, only protects her. read more

We take both of our fur babies there and ABSOLUTELY Love it! Yes you do have to sign a contract but accidents can occur and if they do it lets you know what the regulations and rules are if you take your dogs there up front. We have had NO situations EVER happen and we have been taking our dogs there for a little over two years. We have a large lab and a small puppy and we have been extremely pleased. Our dogs get so excited every time we pull into the parking lot. We have used her doggie daycare and boarding. The dogs get to run free and interact with other dogs all day long. There is an indoor and outdoor area for the dogs to play and they can go in or out when they want. Laura and her staff are very affectionate and caring with all of them. The groomer she has there is also great. I would highly recommend sending your dog or dogs to Lopears Poochie Playground! read more

Unfortunately this ex client is a very irresponsible dog owner who refused to be accountable for their dog's actions & got upset because I made him. Please remember that there are 3 sides to every story, theirs, yours & the truth. It saddens me that this person keeps trying to give us a black mark & attacking my character. This ex client does not share that his dog boarded w/us over 80 times in 2014 & over 50 times in 2015. Also, he has not paid anything out of pocket which he said in his review. The homeowners insurance took care of the bills that he refused to be responsible for after the court ordered him to pay. I am very proud of what we have done here & keep on doing. One should think twice before taking your beloved dog here. Here's why: the dogs are left to roam in an open area with little to no supervision. They are not separated in to play groups based upon activity level, size, etc., as the majority of responsible doggie playgrounds do. And, I have first-hand knowledge of dogs getting injured here. The owner is not an expert in canine behavior by any means and her staff is even worse. I once dropped my dog off for day care, and the owner, Laura, was not there. I walked back inside the facility because I forgot to let her know my pick-up date, and the staff member was screaming and had lost all control of the animals. The facility is run-down, dirty, and has staff that appears to no very little about the care and well-being of dogs. read more

I started out here as a volunteer & now I am an employee. You might say my opinion is biased be cause I work for Lopears but I started out just visiting with a friend of mine that worked here and then fell in LOVE with this place! I cant express how much I do not not care for other places that keep your animals locked up in kennels, whereas Lopears is free roam. Your dogs are locked up at night for bed time (if boarding) but during the day they are free to play as much as their hearts desire! All of us employees here at Lopears care so much for your animals and can't wait to get to work everyday to see their silly faces!! I met Laura when I was looking for an indoor/outdoor playground for rainy days and a place for boarding when I went out of town. We had an immediate connection and I was thrilled that she didn't exclude ANY bully breeds. I was a client for a very short while and then volunteered. Addison has never come home with any boo boos or caused any harm to another dog while in the care of Laura Holmes. She enjoys the time she spends there and comes home happy as a dog! Highly recommended for daycare and boarding. We love Lopears! Our dog tigger was adopted from a shelter and didn't know how to play with toys and daycare helped her soooo much. Laura and her staff posts pictures all of the time so you can see you your fur kid playing. When we go out of town and bored tigger we also normally get text updates and everything too. We have tigger's nails done while she is playing which is super easy and convenient. Tigger is shy with most people but we saw how much she loved all of the Lopears employees when we saw them at bark in the park and tigger went crazy with the tail wagging. She knows what day of the week it is and what days mean day care. read more

I have two dogs that have been to Lopears for a couple of weeks. When I was diagnosed with AML my wife was scrambling to get things ready for me being in the hospital. We reached out to Laura at Lopears and she was kind patient and understanding. It was near closing, but they worked with her to get them in. Also, my wife went to visit the dogs and it was very relaxed environment, and the dogs were happy and healthy. Ginger and Bella had made some friends, and liked playing with them. We started taking our dog at their location off of Rt 29(closer to our home) We had no hesitation when they moved on Farmington Road. It is a little further drive for me, but well worth it. They take care of our dog like their own. We take her once a week for daycare and several times a year for weekend boarding. Our DOG loves it there. Have left all of my babies here numerous times.. people that know me, know that i trust very few with my babies... LoPears has a great facility and wonderful staff.. whilethey are boarded, i receive pics and updates all the time.. they have a great outdoor play space as well.. i love they are not kenneled all day and they do not have an added "play fee".. I love Laura and Lopears. I have boarded my fur baby many times. She was next door to my place of employment (10000 N. Galena Road in Peoria, IL) when i met her. Laura kept me updated with pictures and texts the entire time he was there. My dog is very attached to me and does not do well with others. Both my sister and I left our small dogs with Lopears while we went on vacation.I will agree the form was a little scary, but it was my first time leaving Toto. They were extremely nice and we had to take the dogs for a meet and greet to see how they would do with the other dogs. You can call them any time to check in and they post pictures of the dogs on Facebook while you out of town. Both our dogs loved it there and they were well taken care of. read more

So back in Dec 2015, we brought Princess, our older Shelty, to the Lopears playground for a short visit. She had a great time and was ready to stay over! IMO, Laura and the gang have a lot of love for all pets. Everyone makes you sign a contract or agreement to use their services, so the OP comments makes no sense to me.
