Initially we switched to this vet because the vet we trust and love no longer offered large animal…read moreservices. Spoon River promised and assured us they would be available in the event of a large animal emergency. Not long after we hit a streak of bad luck with our horses. The first incident our horse injured her hoof in the pasture causing an extreme laceration, upon contacting Spoon River they stated they were too busy to send someone and recommended we trailer the horse that couldn't walk 5 feet let alone step up into the trailer to them. It was not until weeks later when the dogs were taken in for shots that we consulted the small animal vet as to what more we could be doing for our horse (she is fine now, no thanks to them). The following spring we had an older horse go down, we knew it was probably his time but wanted to give him a fighting chance. It took them 2 days to finally send someone out and by that point it was entirely too late. The final straw... our horse with known arthritis started swelling, we called and again they were too busy, the next day he was found laying in the pasture unable to get up. For 15 hours I sat with my horse hoping and praying. Yet again Spoon River left us high and dry and for our animal to suffer. It was awful watching my boy struggle and knowing there was nothing I could do for him. I called another veterinary service and they managed to fit us right in and were rushing to get to us. However, by the time they got there it was too late and he had passed on his own. So, if you have large animals please!!!! please!!! do not trust that Spoon River will be there to help you when you need it most. not to mention the unprofessionalism and rude staff. They will never touch any of our animals EVER again.

I would give zero stars but that's not an option. This business is very shady and run by a…read morenarcissistic rude man. While on vacation he had to ask for dog names even though we gave them to him, written them on the food containers and he had our dogs vaccination cards. He stated the they were all fine. When we got there to pick our 3dogs up we only saw 2 standing by him. He said we must've let the other one slip out when we opened the gate. That is a lie. We never put eyes on our little Penny. While searching his property he kept talking about how this has never happened and really wasn't helpful in looking just followed my boyfriend around talking. It just didn't feel right. When we told him the county sheriff was coming out he ordered us off of his property. We had to park on a side road while police were there. He refused to let the police search his home. My son paid eye in the sky drone to fly overhead his property the next morning then Kurt texted saying he found our dog but never told us where. My son went out to pick our baby up for us and I started receiving very rude messages from Kurt saying I can write what I want in Facebook and told me I will get what I deserve from God & karma and that I have psychological problems and need help. My boyfriend went back out to get the story from him on where he found her and ask about the texts. Yes we were clearly emotional while this was taking place but we didn't behave any differently than anyone else would. There is another review that this has happened before and he wouldn't help the guy look for his dog. The man sent it to me on Facebook as a screenshot. This man never took responsibility he just kept blaming us and talked down to us after we had been through a nightmare. The good review on this page is from Kurt himself. Keep looking!

This hospital and staff are incredible! No canned "mission statements", no scripted patter, no ads on a loop if they briefly put you on hold, just old-fashioned good veterinarian care. The place is spotless and attractive and set up to be calming and safe for your pets. They're not cheap (none of them are) but worth every penny.

They also aren't anything like a cat or dog in most ways. One thing about parrots is that they are animals of prey and their bodies can literally show very little to no sign of illness until they're next to dead. In the wild, that gets them killed. That makes it essential to have dependable, quality aviary services. My bird is currently 28 and has his whole life ahead of him with proper nutrition and care. Lou has been part of our family since he hatched and I love him dearly. In fact, the entire neighborhood loves Lou. Anytime it's nice enough, I push his cage onto the front porch. He talks to the neighbors and he barks with the neighborhood dogs. My roommate drives a special van for work that makes a beeping noise when it's in reverse and has brought it home for lunch a few times. Now, if Lou is out on the front porch and he sees a neighbor back out of their driveway, he makes the same noise garbage trucks make. This is obviously a special bird that I can't entrust to just anyone. Lou has received extraordinary care in the past and I know what that looks like. Sadly, I am so disappointed and dissatisfied with the services I received at All Pets that I am now going to be taking him to Champaign for his future needs. I am willing to do what I have to to get my bird the best care. The first time I brought my bird in for a checkup, I feel the doctor performed a bunch of unnecessary tests that had just been done by his previous vet. When you bring your pet in, especially an exotic pet, you are entrusting your pet's care to that vet. Whatever that vet says my pet needed, I gave him. My daughter also has two birds. One was ill. We took her in. The same veterinarian prescribed an antibiotic that went in the bird's water. Before we got the antibiotic, I asked the veterinarian about the antibiotic he was prescribing and if it was another one more commonly prescribed to birds. He told me he was giving us this antibiotic that went in the water instead and that it was cheaper than the antibiotic I asked about. Not two days later, All Pets called my daughter to tell her that she needed to come and pick up another antibiotic for her bird. And, guess what? It turns out it's the antibiotic I had asked the vet about. I go pick the medication up for my daughter and it isn't cheaper than the first medication. The prices are actually very close but the second drug was cheaper. Truthfully, we didn't care about the cost of the antibiotic but we wanted the BEST one for the bird. I bring the new antibiotic to my daughter and see that All Pets gave her a minuscule amount of liquid antibiotics in a test tube. It was such a ridiculous amount that I would've gone back if they were still open. I'm guessing they measured out the exact amount a cockatiel would need without accounting for any possible waste or the fact that it was less than a thimbleful of liquid and dried out with air. My daughter gave the bird the medication until it dried out. The bird got sick again and had to do an entire second course of antibiotics. I understand All Pets is a business and that they need to make a profit. When they cut corners like that to do it, the patient suffers. I don't care where I have to drive, I am taking my pets to a vet that puts the animal care first. That was just not my experience here.
