After about 2 years away, time for an update. I go here…read morefrequently for the driving range. It's open more often than Fort Mill Golf Club just 4 miles away. Today I played the front nine with a 130p tee time, it was 87 degrees and 60% humidity so it was not ideal weather but not unbearable for just 9 holes. Even though Hurricane Debby had blown through four days before dropping 4 inches of rain in Fort Mill, it had dried quickly and conditions were good. It was cart path only on the #5 hole. Built in 2001 and designed by Clyde Johnston, this is the most updated and modern of all the 4 Leroy Springs courses. It's a challenging course which will test your mid-iron game requiring strategic strategy off the tee and approach shots. They have GPS on all the electric carts, a nice large driving range where you can hit off grass and mats as well as a designated chipping area with a small bunker and a large putting green. Really nice ProShop for all the golf gear including mens & women's clothes, shoes, gloves, hat's, belts, towels and a wide selection of golf ball brands. Nice snack bar at the turn with good menu options and a large dining room. You can also use an App called 'birdie' to advance order from the snack bar. The only downsides are the lack of water coolers along the holes and there is only one bathroom on the front nine. Hole #5 is perpetual cart path only. There is no beverage cart, even at the height of the hottest summer days. Many green side bunkers creating side hill & uneven lies.

As for the putting greens, oh my goodness, they were horrific. They were covered with so many golf ball-sized green broccoli head growths.. so my putts bounced and zigzagged. It was really annoying. Oh, and the hole cups were giant. In other words, you can't practice anything: no speed, distance, or control. You won't be leaving a better golfer at all. They also have an outside driving range where you hit off natural grass. Both are lighted as they stay open until 9pm There is also a dedicated chipping area. There is a dedicated putting area which is really exceptional. It's set up like a 18 hole putting green similar to a putt putt course. There is not a single flat area on the putting course, it's all swales and ridges so you will really be challenged. In addition they have two golf simulators you can rent by the half hour or hour. You can register for free membership to get your bucket of balls at a discount of $1.00. Interestingly most all the balls are Titlest range balls which is a plus. Inside there is an attendant who will rent the balls, There are 3 different size buckets, small, medium and large. The small gets you about 70 balls and runs $10.75 They sell used and new clubs and golf bags. You can buy individuals clubs or a full set. They also sell golf apparel including shoes. You can get cold sodas and bottled water as well. This is a first class facility part of the First Tee Organization of Greater Charlotte. You'll find that on certain days/hours there will be a lot of youngsters practicing so you can ask the attendant about the best times to visit.
