Beautiful park, wish we could have played disk golf here. They don't provide rentals, so make sure you bring your own gear!

There is a walking path that includes a small bridge over the creek. I enjoyed the walking trail today. At the entrance to the park, three decent playground areas with climbing frames, play places and swing sets. Perfect for getting the little ones tuckered out. The map suggests that Wyanoke Avenue goes through the park. It does not. There is street parking and please be respectful of the folks who live here. Multiple play areas, including a covered shelter, and you might get lucky and have a train go by. It was nice to walk to the back of the park area and look out onto a stream. One of the street art place making projects the city sponsored is at the entrance and another is just a couple of blocks away at an entrance to a greenway path. A few swings, plenty of slides, and even some rock climbing knobs to get up to the two tallest slides. Perhaps it was because we were cooped up with the pandemic and this was only the second park we visited, but went with our older daughter and returned the next day with her younger sister too.

It goes through a wooded area and down to the river. Then the trail suddenly becomes a disc golf course. Now the disc golf course seemed really nice, but I wouldn't recommend hiking a disc golf course. You're just in the way if people are playing. There's a nice lake later in the course. Overall, I'd recommend it for disc golf or maybe just to hang out at, but I wouldn't recommend walking through the disc golf course like AllTrails recommends.

They have a bunch of really nice pieces I have never seen before. The playground is also huge. There is so many different areas to choose from. The only bad part is one piece of equipment isn't safe. My nephew decided to play incorrectly on the 4 person see saw piece and his foot got scraped up pretty bad. Make sure that your kids don't try to ride/sit/stand on the middle piece of the see saw. There were two groups grilling out at two different shelters close to the playground. They both surrounded the playground. The one thing that impressed me the most was how clean the restroom was. The restroom is super close to the playground too which is very convenient. This park is kinda far from me but I will definitely make the trip out here for the nibblings. The very very bleak playground more on bailey road is seriously lame-o. The larger playground outback past the tennis courts was likely great 10 years ago but has been very badly neglected. On the up side it is "under renovations". On the downside the town chose July - sept to do the renovations. Seriously, who plans these things. Kids are off for the summer and your closing for the summer. Another bright side is if and when this place does get a facelift it looks like it'll be pretty neat AND best of all big trees line the area so it's nicely shaded. Another note - weird note- the trees that surround the playground has these trees that drop pussy droplets and then clunk - these hard lime colored and sized things start dropping. I'be only lived here a couple years and have no ideas what they are. Weird choice for landscaping by a playground. After some googling I think they are eastern black walnut trees I'll come back this fall and check the renos out and offer an update.

If you frequent rows of shops along Park Road you too may find this short jaunt a nice respite from the noisy traffic cruising down the road. This park is located, as mentioned, at the heart of an old neighborhood making up the solid heart of one of Charlotte's largest residential areas. It's enough green space to get a short walk in or simply sit on the grass for a picnic on a nice day. There's a very large array of playground and jungle gym for the kids to work out all their excess energy. There's even a work out area nearby for general fitness - aimed more at adults. There's a small rose garden and a paved path around the park, not to mention the convenient sidewalk lining the road right next to it. Probably the icing on this cake is the disc golf course. I don't disc golf, but this one looks easy-peasy for the beginners out there that may be just getting into the sport. While this park may not be super stellar or anything special, I'd argue that it's a hidden gem of sorts due to its location tucked into the neighborhood and how absolutely quiet it is even now, as we sit at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when everybody just wants to get out into nature. Want to sit at a distance from people, have a bite to eat, read a book or write under the shade of a big tree? That's right, go here everyone. The secret is out.

Note that they do not allow pickups from the elementary school here. You can park and come in side but they don't want the kids walking to the park for pickup.
