Very disappointed in writing this poor review. I bought all of my appliances when I moved into my house a couple years ago. In less than 5 years my fridge is not working properly. My ice machine stopped working and I had issues with my water getting warm. I had a reliable appliance company take a look at my fridge and the motor blade was off the shaft. The person that looked at it told me if I didn't have anyone look or do anything to the fridge since it was installed that it was installed incorrectly. He also told me I should start budgeting for a new fridge within the year because the compressor was not cooling down enough. I discussed this with the manager Jeffery Reese via a call and then text. He was very dismissive and rude when discussing this matter with him. I was very displeased with how he handled this situation and I will not be going to Longeneckers again for any appliances and would consider getting appliances elsewhere as they don't install properly and the manager will not listen and be condescending. read more

I am a very long time customer, been going there since they were on the square in Manheim. Last week I needed a rather unusual pipe fitting, one with a straight thread, not tapered. The salesman got really aggravated with me. He held up a tapered fitting, and said with attitude that it was a pipe thread, and my sample was a pipe thread. I told him, no, his was an NPT, and the T stands for taper. Mine was an NPS, and the S stands for straight. He then threw is fitting back into the bin and said he couldn't help me. I have a really long and really good relationship with Longenecker's, and this won't change that, but I will think about this when deciding to go here, Bomberger's, or Paul B's. read more

From the internet(Good for such trivia.): Nikola Tesla visited Henry Ford at his factory, which was having some kind of difficulty. Ford asked Tesla if he could help identify the problem area. Tesla walked up to a wall of boilerplate and made a small X in chalk on one of the plates. Ford was thrilled, and told him to send an invoice. The bill arrived, for $10,000. Ford asked for a breakdown. Tesla sent another invoice, indicating a $1 charge for marking the wall with an X, and $9,999 for knowing where to put it. My engineer friend used to say much the same thing when fixing TV's, many years ago. One of Longenecker's service folk came to my house last week to check our un-cold fridge. Pulled it out, took out a couple of screws, looked inside with a flashlight, pushed it back. Said, "It's gone. Wouldn't pay to fix it. Too much to do for it's age". He confirmed my own suspicions. I said, I'd be over to buy a new one, soon as I could. He said, the bill would be discounted(Not forgiven, just discounted - fair enough.) if I bought one from there - which, later on I did. I don't know what the charge for the service call was, I knew it would be fair from long experience with LN. 65 bucks for any in-home service call is fine, if only for their opinion - it's 2017. I always ask myself how much I would do "whatever" for(I'll take the 5th. on this one - I don't want anyone to charge what I'd charge. Especially since I'd have no idea what I was doing.). read more

PSA: longenecker true value in manheim is a rip off! Charges me $65 for a service call ( did not inform me ahead of time up the cost) the technician spent five minutes evaluating my washer three of which was spent petting my dog. He then tells me my washer is dead and I get a bill in the mail for 2 minutes of work. When I contested the bill they were unwilling to negotiate or be flexible in the cost versus service value. Repeatedly claiming they were the cheapest around compared to their competitors as opposed to providing better customer service in this instance. So for all of my Manheim friends and others who live close by if you choose to shop at longenecker's True Value do so with caution I however will not be in the future. #longeneckertruevalue read more

Longenecker's is the best store in Manheim. They have appliances, paint, cleaning supplies, kitchen gadgets you cannot find everywhere and a surprisingly spectacular gift shop and garden center. Best of all it is locally owned and convenient. Staff is very helpful and courteous. It's worth a trip to Manheim! read more

Every single time I've been here it's been a positive experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They also rent equipment which is really a reasonable price. Their sale prices are very competitive. We've bought paint and had each time a perfect match. read more

Rented an aerator and power seeder on the same day (3 hr rental each). No issues with aerator but power seeder failed on me twice. First, the wheel popped off during the job so they sent someone out w/in 30 minutes to fix it (satisfied so far). After working for another 45 minutes, I notice my seed is much lower than it's supposed to be based on what they told me to set it at. Upon further inspection, I notice the slider down below isn't moving. I call them to troubleshoot and they tell me I have to bring it in for them to inspect. I go through the hassle of loading it back on the truck and taking it to them. Apparently grass seed got wedged between the slider causing seeds to continue to run out even when I thought I was closing it on each of my turns. They simply used a compressor to blow out any seed currently wedged between the slider, a little spray and said it was fine. I went inside to buy more seed since seed continued to drop out w/out my knowing. Mark (manager) did give me a discount on the seed but asked what he could do about the inconvenience of the rental equipment. I wasn't expecting to get anything for free but a discount on the rental I felt was fair. Mark said he absolutely would not give me a discount. He said if he did that, than everyone would claim their rental was broke/ defective (He inspected the rental himself and saw that it was not working correctly so not sure why he thought I was making this up). He said I could have the rental over the weekend but it needed to be back by 7am Monday morning b/c someone else was renting it. I told him I only needed it for 3 hrs and it's just going to sit at my house over the weekend causing me another inconvenience and having to run it in Monday morning (I had other plans). I told him I'd rather a discount and he ignored me and said he's not giving me a discount and that he has other customers to work with and walked away. So in the end, two breakdowns, needed to buy another bag of seed due to defect, having to keep and drop off the rental first thing Monday morning and Mark couldn't find a way to take care of the customer and give a rental discount. Obviously disappointed. I'll be renting from JB Hostetter next round hoping to feel more valued as a customer. read more

Located close to my home so frequent store often for odds and ends. Experiences with staff have ranged from friendly/helpful to indifferent. Recently visited appliance center to purchase frig. Salesman was minimally helpful but did offer, for free, to send person to my home to measure to confirm frig would fit. Purchased frig which was delivered next day (free delivery and $15 removal of old frig). Delivery guys were fantastic! He went over every function of frig, salesman never did. It was then discovered top freezer slide out draw did not lock resulting in draw falling off track into bottom of freezer. Told them to take it back. I immediately returned to store to purchase another frig and salesman said they could send someone out to fix draw. I declined as I didnt want a new, repaired, frig! Was told I would have to pay the delivery fee! Told them I would pay but wanted a refund and would buy a frig elsewhere! Bad bussiness to lose a sale over a delivery fee. Salesman then said he would waive fee if I purchased another frig. Salesman offered no assistance, stayed behind desk, while I looked for another frig. Had to go get him to answer question about more expensive frig I was interested in. I asked if he had one in stock, he said they did have one left in inventory. New frig was delivered same day. When unloading from truck, discovered it was the floor model! Told them to take it back as I dont want a floor model. Returned to store and salesman said "what did you think one left in inventory meant." Had to pay the delivery, got my money back and bought a frig elsewhere. read more
