Pretty cool curb appeal. Tiki torches light up the night. The entire building looks like a tiki hut. Open air throughout. Including access for the hotel guests. The service was sketchy. We asked how much the beer was and he said "idk $12? $11? Maybe less". So we have him $12 and he didn't come back with any change. Sooooo probably $6 each? Then we decided to hold a tab open telling him that when we were done- we would be paying cash. We ordered 2 more beer- and two shots. Next thing we know he's run the card and bringing us the slip. $32 no pricing on the ticket. Soooo we dont have a clue. Ultimately we aren't gonna be upset cuz it's a vacation. And we are on vacation dollars. The menu is varied and pricey. But again- location. read more

This bar is located on the Double Tree property and we had pina coladas at the bar while waiting for our room. They were pretty good for being premade, but strangely not ice cold for being freshly dispensed from the machine. There was a noisy fan above our heads (necessary on humid days like the one we had) plus traffic noise from Seawall Blvd just on the other side of the railing, the combination was so loud we could barely hear each other. The bartender looked very grumpy (but then her polar opposite showed up when we were on the pool side of the bar - all smiles and "I got you's"). We didn't try any food but overall I wouldn't hang out here mostly because of the noise. read more

Part of Doubletree in Galveston right across from seawall with a great view and nice ocean breeze. The waiter was awesome and suggested things to do. We had some local brews and pretty good nachos while waiting for our room. The other food looked and smelled delicious! read more

Great location, cool and comfy looking over the ocean. Had some awesome local beers! We shared the nacho's they were very good tasting but the cheese was just sprinkled on top, would have been better melted. Very friendly service , gave us some ideas of what to do close by. read more

March 4, 2022 Brought a friend from Hitchcock that's never been here. Cool, windy day...a tad too cold but, nonetheless we suffered through. Ordered 2 drinks "rum punch" tasty but, for $10.5, where's the alcohol? We ordered mahi mahi tacos and beef nachos... nope. Fish tasted good but the pineapple chunks were bigger than the fish!! Wasn't bad just wasn't impressed and it was served with tortilla chips. Gimme fries man Nachos? HA! Not these. Some THIN white cheese that barely stuck to the chips. This is SE TX man, we LOVE nachos...we WANT THICK CHEESE and slop it on.. doesn't cost you but a few cents more. Place just felt like a total rip off. Great view. read more

Seriously?? If you like warm beer, poorly made drinks & totally clueless service you will absolutely love this place. Otherwise go elsewhere. Have heard that this hotel/bar are owned by the same person who owns The Spot, but the 2 have absolutely NOTHING in common in terms of food, drinks or service. Hard to believe that the same owner would run such 2 totally opposite operations. Love The Spot, but will definitely NOT return to the Longboard Bar. read more

The food was good. The service was ok. The staff was not very attentive and really not that busy. The theme of the bar is fun and inviting. But the staff and the wait are not. In order for food the staff have to walk it out through the pool area to the bar restaurant. It just seems that this bar in conjunction with the hotel missed the mark. Came once but I think I will pass another trip here. read more

We just arrived after a long flight and an even longer shuttle to get to the Doubletree. Right outside the room was this Longboard restaurant which would be perfect because it was facing the Gulf of Mexico. We asked Tripp - our server, what his favorite choice was and he mentioned the Cobb salad And a shrimp dish. I want the cobb Saladin was OK, but was primarily deli ham that was cut up but everything else is pretty good. We asked a few questions about the area, he had nothing to share, disappointing as he was the bartender and server and local. My disappointment came on a order of chips and salsa if they weren't burnt, they were really stale but that's the chance you take when you go to a restaurant that's not a chain. read more

This place is laughable. The bar is covered in bees and flies first of all. The drinks are extremely over priced and so mediocre. The bartenders could care less about you unless you're young and in a bikini lol!! It was unpleasant to say the least and defiantly a disappointment!! The pool looked green and cloudy too. Super fun outdoor bar and grill right on the side walk of the sea wall. Great views of the ocean and the action of the sea wall cruisers. Had cocktails and appetizers, both were good. Staff was friendly and didn't give us a hard time for not ordering entrees. Located right off the pool and hotel we stayed at. read more

Food was sub-par (frozen fish served + food was only warm versus hot), bartender who waited on us was RUDE (didn't want to split our bill without complaint), and had poor service to even re-order drinks at our table. Only thing that it had going for the bar was the seawall view. Would definitely tell people NOT to go here. read more

We walked from the pleasure pier back to our hotel and saw this cute little bar on the way and had to stop. Big plus walked in and they had our aggies game on the tv full bar and food. Firstly, know that this bar is owned and operated by Doubletree Hotel and if you are not staying at the hotel, you will not be welcome here. Drinks are way overpriced (tourist trap, so not shocking) but my real problem was with the service. My two friends and I each ordered cocktails and were treated like huge inconveniences. There were 5 servers and one was actually working. After waiting 10 minutes and spending $15 for an 8oz drink we went to the pool. We didn't realize that you had to have a wristband and were promptly asked to leave. Fine, rules are rules...but the manager hovered over us treating us like criminals and barely allowed us to dry off. So rude. This place is a crappy hotel bar masquerading as an actual bar. A friend of mine got me to leave my hermetically sealed pied-à-terre during COVID-19 to venture out on Ratchet Island:Galveston Edition for a frozen vodka dreamsicle we went to Longboards.... it was a LONG wait and we were BORED alright. The bartender in HOT PANTS was OBVIOULY phoning it in and there were 3 people in the whole place we ordered $40 of food. You would have they were surfing it from Rio de Janeiro because after 25 MIN we were STILL WAITING!!! I risked LIFE and limb and THAT is what I GOT!?! At this rate they should just STAY CLOSED! We ordered drinks here as we were guests in the Doubletree hotel. I was completely ignored at the swim up bar even though the bartender made eye contact. Experienced long waits for drinks and was told to go back to my pool chair by the food & beverage manager as they had a person at the pool taking orders. The server finally took my order and got my bill wrong and had to go back to the bar to get it fixed. This place is a great candidate for the show Bar Rescue. So much potential, wasted. read more

We were searching for a sports bar on the gulf. Apparently their tvs only stream one Chanel even though they advertise as a sports bar. Luckily a maintenance person was available to accomplish this upon his arrival. If no maintenance man on duty, you would be out of luck. All tv's will be playing same station. The bartender is unable to fix this. We were not waited on until we flagged her down to order food. We got our own bar drinks. One of which was made incorrectly. Food arrived to our table uncovered having traveled from the kitchen of attached motel Doubletree. Hence cold upon arrival. Had to ask for additional ingredients which were to accompany meal. Was told French fries were unavailable (they were out) informed we could sub onion rings for an extra $2 fee. Waitress was unengaged and had to be called repeatedly for anything needed. Located right across the beach on the seawall .. it's like a few block from the house. Bartender was very attentive and nice. They had 3 big TVs at the bar and they had the Warriors and Rockets game on that night ... warriors won btw YaY!! Behind me was the beach .. I couldn't ask for a better place to be. Food was great too !! Everyone at the bar seemed relaxed and very friendly as well! The food was OK. Typical of poolside food for a hotel. However the service was horrible. The waitress came to our metal table and metal chairs and told us that she prefered the tip in cash , because it takes her two weeks to get it from the hotel. I explained to her that, I'm a guest at the hotel, I didn't come down to the pool with my wallet for obvious reasons. So we only ordered about $20 of food and it was very difficult to get silverware a refill on the Ice-T, and I had to ask where the food was and by that time it was cold.. I would've gotten better food and better service if I had just walk down to Denny's. read more

I visited Galveston recently - and I stumbled upon Longboard while walking on the Seawall. The inside is very beachy and I loved to be able to sit a table and have an amazing view of the ocean. The frozen pina colada is by far the best I've had in a long time. They even do a floater - I ordered a Myers which was great. I also ordered the chicken wings for a snack and they were perfectly marinated and delicious. Will definitely be back when I come visit again ! read more

I have visited here many times because I always stay in the hotel where it is located. Such a cool place but over-priced and nothing spectacular as far as food choices and quality. Service has gotten much better in the past year and am loving that but usually still leave disappointed. Miss the live music that they used to have. Two stars because of the view. read more

I love this place! The bar has a thatched roof and is open air like any real island bar should be! Located on the seawall that was constructed to protect the island from hurricane storm surge the ocean view is amazing. I have been several times and keep going back because the service is great and drinks are bomb! The friendly young blond female bartender is extremely attentive and works hard to make the visit perfect every single time. The frozen drinks are amazing! They are not pre-mixed so you can enjoy them with or without hard A. I love the Piña coladas. I have not had the food here but looks like typical bar fare. There are several large TVs for watching games and the vibe is very island chill. The staff works hard here to make your visit fun.
