I was going to have my dog spayed here, but I had some extenuating circumstances come up and I…read morecontacted them the day before her appointment to postpone. I was told I would have to pay another $100 deposit to reschedule, and lose the $100 deposit I already paid to book her appointment. Their refund policy is 48 hour notice, but again I had extenuating circumstances come up, but they didn't seem to care about that. So...I will be getting my dog spayed elsewhere, and they have lost any future business with me because I don't think it's fair under the circumstances and because I only was postponing it, I wasn't canceling it altogether, not until they penalized me for $100. I'm giving them 3 stars because of past experiences with this clinic with other pets I've taken over there in the past, and the vet was nice and compassionate then, but to me this $100 penalty for just wanting to postpone to me is unreasonable (I was scheduled for a surgery that same week and wouldn't have been able to fully take care of my girl while we were both in recovery and I thought I could postpone my procedure at the time I made her appointment). I found out later that they didn't want me to postpone my procedure (heart related) and I was freaking out about how I was going to take care of her during her recovery. There was urgency to get her appointment at the time I made it because I was afraid she was pregnant and it wasn't good for at her age to be. I found out the day before her appt that she isn't pregnant, so I was relieved to be able to postpone her surgery until I am recovered from mine and can properly take care of her.

I have been bringing my pets to San Fernando Pet Hospital for over 30 years, and I have always been…read moregrateful for the level of care that Dr. Makkar and his staff provide. Six years ago, my female cat needed emergency surgery, and they were able to save her life while keeping the cost far below what I was quoted elsewhere. More recently, I had to bring my male cat in for an urgent medical concern, and once again he received excellent care at a price that was significantly more reasonable than the emergency hospital. What sets this practice apart is that they understand that quality veterinary care should be accessible. It is not simply about saving money, t is about giving pet owners options so they can provide the best possible care for their animals without being forced into financial hardship. As a full-time nursing student caring for two senior cats, I truly appreciate having a veterinarian who works with pet owners while never compromising the quality of care. The staff is consistently kind and helpful. During my most recent visit, after being up all night in the ER with my cat, the receptionist even brought me a cup of coffee. It was a small gesture, but it speaks volumes about the compassion and dedication of everyone at this clinic. I highly recommend San Fernando Pet Hospital to anyone looking for knowledgeable, compassionate veterinary care at a fair and reasonable cost. They do not nickel and dime you, they do what is best for your pet, and they always try to work with walk-ins. There may be a wait, but that is not only to be expected anywhere, it also comes without the ER cost.

On December 1, 2025, my pup looked at me, and I knew it was time. Our family had called upon Dr…read more Gonzalez before, so there was no question in my mind who to call again. Unlike our previous experience where we were able to book ahead of time and plan for our pup's passing, this was a circumstance where our baby needed immediate services -- his body was failing. Once I saw our senior 13-yr old pup was telling me it was okay, I called Dr. Gonzalez at 7pm. She was at our home by 10pm. Our pup had been sick for several years, and in that last week, our primary vet had already told us his health was declining, so we at least knew the end was near. And I had already mentally prepared to be strong and let him go when he needed to -- so I had Dr. Gonzalez's number on hand. We live in an apartment building, so we reserved a spot for her in our lot as close as possible to an exit. She came upstairs to our home, and she had brought all her equipment. I had already imagined how I wanted this experience to go for my once in a lifetime soul pup. I sat on his favorite place on the sofa, and I had him in my lap. Dr. Gonzalez gave me a pee pad to wrap around him within the blanket understanding there could be an accident in the process as his body released his spirit. I had a candle lit. I had soft music playing. We had low lighting on to honor what was about to happen. Dr. Gonzalez was also super accommodating to our 2nd puppy who was curious about her and wondering what was happening to his big brother. She didn't shoo him away -- she invited us to keep the puppy around so he can know his big brother was about to pass on. She gave us time to speak to Nuxx, love on him, and then let him go. Then, it finally happened. And Dr. Gonzalez stepped out of our apartment for awhile, giving our little family time to grieve, sob, and hold our baby close. Our puppy sniffed him too and said his goodbyes. Then she came back, and she asked us if we wanted to be the ones to carry him out or she was happy to do so. My husband carried him, myself and our puppy followed along -- felt like a procession down our apartment hallway. We got to Dr. Gonzalez's car, and we gently placed our baby's body in her car, and said our goodbyes again. Then...it was done. Throughout the experience, Dr. Gonzalez was so incredibly supportive, gentle, understanding, and patient. What else can you ask for when such a heartbreaking thing is occurring? When a spirit is literally fading in your arms? I am still not over losing him, but at least I know we gave him the most peaceful send-off we could: in his own home, in our arms, surrounded by so much love. If / when we need to go through again, I will continue to call on Dr. Gonzalez. RIP Nuxx.

Everyone there is kind and…read morecompassionate, and really care about the animals they treat - they are always happy to help and advise via email. Dr. Roueche is just an amazing vet - and their prices are affordable and fair. I have an older cocker spaniel, who got really sick after eating bad food (Ol' Roy - never give this to your dog -it's toxic - google it), she got diarrhea, could no longer stand, wouldn't eat...seemed like it was the end. She was so bad over the weekend, that we had no choice but to takeher to an emergency vet first who basically said they could do tests (running into thousands of dollars), or just put her to sleep...they pushed hard to have me euthanize her on the spot. We walked out and waited to see Affordable Vets this week. Dr. Rouche examined her and suggested trying her with a couple of shots - antibiotic and steroid - it was a long shot, but worth a try... Now, she's recovering better than we ever could have expected - and it cost less than the first emergency visit cost in total. If I'd have listened to those other people, I would have put her down, now thankfully to Dr. R's compassion, experience and expertise, she is recovering and we might have her a little while longer. She's been a member of our family for 14 years, since she was 6 weeks old, and our whole family is grateful and thankful for what these people did for her. Amazing - just the absolute best. I cannot recommend them enough.
