    Momiji after surgery
    Maryann G.

This review is long overdue , but well deserved. I can truly say Dr. stern was the best doctor and will be missed. He was not only compasionate but honest as well and loved animals as much as we love our fur babies too. I was a bit skeptical in coming back, but Im the type of person that gives people the benefit of the doubt. I'm glad I did, because not only the staff was amazing. But Dr. Min went above and beyond to make sure my 3 fur babies were taken care of. Dr.Min went above and beyond with my maltipoo (Momiji) to make sure his surgery was a success and his healing process went smoothly. I wanna thank Dr. Min and her sister and staff. Thank you soooooo much and our Fur babies will remain a loyal patient of your's and will not go anywher else. I wish I could give Five Star Vet more than Five Star. I give them !00 stars **************** Thank you again! We love you guys!

We take our 3 dogs here for their yearly medical checkups with Dr. Min. Recently our Maltipoo had to have surgery to remove a growth on his eye lid. Also we had them pull out some rotten teeth while he was knocked out. Surgery went very well and we are back after 2 weeks for a follow up. The doctors and staff are very friendly and caring. Thank you so much Dr. Min & 5 Star Veterinary Care. We definitely recommend them for your fur babies.

Took my dog here after the San Fernando vet hospital did absolutely nothing and couldn't have been happier. They catered to my dogs special needs and interacted so well with her. They talked me through the price and helped with my budget. The lady at the counter was super nice and the one who helped with the medication was so thorough and professional. I'm so happy I found this place. Thank you guys for taking care of my dog so well!

Both good and bad experiences have come from this Veterinary. For starters, I have been coming here for years to get all of my 4 dogs their vaccines. They have been great and we have never had a problem. Until my puppy was diagnosed with a CKD, Congenital Kindey Diesease. My dog Lily (1 year old) had been showing abnormal signs. She was skinny, would not eat a lot (sometimes she wouldn't eat at all), would throw up, consume a ton of water, vomit every now and then, would be depressed, would constantly get itchy bumps and lumps and always hurt her shoulders. The first time I explained all this to the doctor he gave me medicine for her itch that worked for two weeks and then stopped working. I took her back and after some tests, out of the blue they said "your dog has kidney failure. You have three options: take her to the hospital literally right now, put her to sleep, or take her home and wait for her to pass away." I was completely caught off guard. Nothing was sugar coated; everything was so subtle. The only thing I could do was ask "are there any other options?" and break down to tears in my car. The vet, Dr. Alexander Stern spoke to me over the phone. He said "I really think you should consider putting her to sleep. Trying to treat her illness is like a shot in the dark. It could cost you $5-10k dollars. She needs her kidneys flushed and even that cannot cure her." The nurse told me to go home and "process" everything and come back when I was ready. She took my payment and told me "we close tomorrow at 2pm, just to let you know." I thought.. they want me to put her to sleep tomorrow??? After hours of crying my eyes out, I did my research. I kept looking for positive things. I asked a friend's vet for a quick consultation based on the blood work. She recommended to go to a different vet, get an ultrasound, urinalysis, and blood work again. I went to a different vet (Thrive) and without giving them any explanation, they said they needed to do all the tests my friend's vet recommended. I approved and two days later they called me and told me to rush Lily to the ER to get an ultrasound. I went to Access Specialty Hospital where there is actually a Nephrologist (I did a ton of research). I actually already had Lily scheduled with him in late December (that was the earliest available). Ultimately, they said Lily's kidneys are abnormal but not life threatening. She will end up living a shorter lifespan but with treatment she can be with me a little longer. She has been taking special medication, prescription food, getting blood work, taking supplements, and over the past month, her blood work has improved so much and she has actually gained a little over a pound which is amazing. She eats normal and now she is super energetic and looks very happy. She has not hurt her shoulders since and she is no longer depressed. From the expenses with Five Star to the new Vet to the hospital ER visit along with her routine blood work and everything has cost me around $1,600 compared to $5-10k that Dr Alexander Stern had said. I am sooooo glad I did not take Five Star Vet's suggestion of putting her to sleep. I still wonder why they jumped so quickly into "put her to sleep" mode instead of offering me multiple alternatives. I am assuming they mainly treat people with low income and they automatically assumed I would not be interested in other alternatives or treatment because of the price? Or maybe he is not a good "long term" veterinarian. I don't know, they were very good with everything else with my other dogs. I am not rating this a "1" because of how they have been good to me in other situations. However, with Lily, I felt they didn't put effort and were like "either she is rushed to the hospital NOW or you put her down NOW." Of course, they gave me time to think about it but still. It was a stressful and hard situation. I will probably still come here for yearly vaccines but Lily has her own treatment plan elsewhere. I thank them for seeing all the signs and for the proper diagnosis for Lily. They were able to find the problem, they just didn't handle it the way I would have preferred. Where Lily would stay here with me.

During the visit, she was examined and I was told she was healthy and doing well. The clinic prescribed her Credelio for fleas in addition to her vaccines. The wait time was about 1-2 hours, which I understood. She was seen at approximately 12:36 PM, received her shots and the prescribed medication, and we went home. I monitored her closely at home. She seemed fine, but at around 3:40 PM, she suddenly passed away. I called the office around 4:00 PM to report what happened. I was placed on hold and disconnected, so I called again and explained the situation. I was told the doctor would call me back after hours, but I have not received any call yet. My dog was perfectly fine before this visit(here is a picture of her in the car going to the vet) I lost my best friend on January 28, 2026, at 3:40 PM, and I am devastated. I trusted this clinic with her care, and I am heartbroken and confused about how something like this could happen so suddenly. Update: I want to clarify what happened after I contacted the clinic. I was told that the doctor would call me back. At around 4:20 PM, I received a call, but it was not the doctor--it was a receptionist. She told me the doctor would call me later, but he never did. When I later spoke with the doctor, he seemed irritated and dismissive. I felt that my concerns about the medication, including Credelio, were not taken seriously. Instead of discussing the possibility of an adverse reaction or explaining what could have happened, my questions were brushed off. As a pet owner who just lost their dog suddenly, I expected empathy, transparency, and a willingness to address my concerns. Instead, I felt unheard and dismissed during one of the most painful moments of my life.

When he was returned to my husband, we were told he might have a reaction for a few days. What followed was not a mild reaction. Our cat came home unable to stand, refusing food, clearly in severe pain, and urinating on himself. He had previously received the same vaccine without any side effects. We contacted the clinic immediately and were repeatedly told this was normal. It was not. After four days of watching our cat in agony with no improvement, we called again and were offered a visit with another veterinarian. At that appointment, we were reassured that everything was fine. The veterinarian manipulated his leg to demonstrate that nothing was wrong and even suggested unrelated care. Meanwhile, our cat continued to suffer. After about a month, he was still severely limping and in obvious pain. We called multiple times. When we were finally able to speak with someone, it was suggested that he may have had a pre-existing condition, which was absolutely not true. We then sought a second opinion. An X-ray immediately revealed a broken hip. We were asked whether he had experienced major trauma, such as being hit by a car. Our cat is strictly indoors and had no access to anything that could explain such an injury. Because of the delay, our cat endured prolonged pain, had to be confined for an extended period, and developed additional strain and arthritis in the other leg. We also incurred significant out-of-pocket expenses. We reported the case to the veterinary board. Afterward, Dr. Prabakhar called my husband expressing concern about the situation and potential consequences. The difference between what we were repeatedly told and what was ultimately discovered is devastating. Our concerns were consistently dismissed while our cat was suffering. Based on this experience, we strongly warn other pet owners not to trust this clinic with serious medical concerns and to seek immediate independent opinions.

I was very satisfied with the services and care received. I really like Dr. Long. Fast forward nearly 4 years later, and recently I just went back for follow up care for my 2 cats. These past few weeks, there have been UNENDING SCREW UPS with the office calling me and unfortunately I did not get the messages. This resulted in at least 2 missed appointments. I did discuss with the staff at the front desk that texting is better and that I will get the message right away. The staff at front desk response? "We only have a land line and cannot send text messages". Well, yesterday, 6.18.26 I received a call just after 9 in the morning confirming for today's visit. I called Roxford Vet back, was on hold for at least 10 minutes and no one ever came back on the line. I showed up this morning with my cat, the one cat I thought was supposed to be seen for a routine follow up . I was told that the appointment was for another cat. I hit the roof. I told the girl at the front desk that this was not acceptable. She then turned me over to another front desk employee who told me that it was my responsibility to check my messages and to make sure that the correct pet was brought in. I have NEVER had this happen with any other veterinary practices. I told the second person I spoke to at the front desk to cancel today's visit and to NOT charge me. I told them that I would not be back. It gets better. Dr. Long came out to the front desk and was able to hear part of the heated conversation. What did Dr. Long do? NOTHING. As a business owner, usually the business owner becomes concerned when there is a misunderstanding and when the topic of taking business away is mentioned, but no, nothing. I liked Dr. Long but lost respect for her after seeing this. There was absolutely ZERO attempt at customer services, remediation and reconciliation. Well, I WILL dispute today's charges if they appear on my Care Credit account. I told the second person I spoke to today that they needed to get with the times and get set up for texting. JEEZE LOUISE. I have read a couple of reviews that are in alignment with my experience. I work in the medical field myself and have noticed that in physician's offices and specialty medical groups, the persons working at the front desk can set the pace for the ambience provided by that medical practice. If you have people that are ignorant, self-righteous, UNTRAINED and arrogant, you will have that feeling of where the customer doesn't matter and that you are just a number. I hope that these reviews are taken seriously, as it will impact your business.

She came to my home first thing the next morning. I was worried about my younger Golden Retriever jumping on her or interfering with her care, but she was absolutely wonderful with both of my dogs. She encouraged him to stay in the room with us once he was comfortable with her, and I truly believe that helped him understand what was happening. She was incredibly professional, but I'll never forget one small moment. Out of the corner of my eye, while I was saying my final words and paying my last tributes to my girl, I saw her quietly wiping tears from her eyes. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how often we're expected to wear a mask and stay composed. Seeing that genuine emotion didn't make her seem less professional, it reassured me that she truly cared. In those final moments, your mind races. You question whether you're making the right decision. Seeing her emotion gave me peace because I knew she wasn't simply going through the motions. I knew that if she believed my girl wasn't ready, she would have told me. Most of us are fortunate enough to experience this kind of heartbreak only a few times in our lives. She carries families through it over and over again. That takes an incredible amount of compassion. Thank you for your kindness, your empathy, and for helping my sweet Lilo leave this world peacefully and with dignity. Please take care of yourself, too. The first photo is the day Oliver met Lilo as a puppy, their first photo together. The second was taken just before the veterinarian arrived to help Lilo pass. Besides all the regular check ups, Dr G. has performed 2 substantial surgeries on my pup in the last 8 years, and has been extremely kind, providing valuable reassuring step-by-step updates throughout, especially aware that I had lost my beloved first dog, (with a different vet), when he did not make it through the anesthesia... In the 8 years Dr G. has been our one and only vet; everyone I have sent to Dr G. has fallen in love with her, and has thanked me for the referral. I trusted Dr G and her small compassionate team with the euthanasia of my precious second dog, Handsome. She is truly an Angel on Earth.
