Ahoy!! This newly remodeled Long John Silvers in Heidelberg (Carnegie) is located in Raceway Plaza near Shop N Save. This location has been closed for several months for an extensive rehabilitation and remodel. I saw that it was open a few days ago, so I decided to stop in today for lunch and check out the new digs. I am not a big fan of fast food or LJS, but I think it's O.K. to eat once in a while. I was immediately disappointed when I looked on the menu and saw that Clam Strips were not available, as that was what I was wanting to eat. I decided to try the two piece fish combo instead, which came with two hushpuppies, a drink, and a side of my choice. I chose Cole Slaw. It also came with some crumblies too. The staff was very pleasant, and my food was ready soon after I ordered. One thing I noticed when the food arrived, was that the fish pieces were much smaller than I remembered. The food tasted O.K. After I was done eating, I noticed that the place was getting really busy, and the drive thru was getting backed up too. I guess everybody wants to try out the newly reopened LJS . . . Cheers! P.S. Beautiful, clean and neat restaurant...ordered the #10 platter with 2 pc fish, 6 shrimp, 2 hush puppies and a side of green beans and coleslaw. Everything was so fresh and tasty! The platter was perfectly arranged. The fish fillets were fresh, crispy with delicious white fish(not that nasty gray looking stuff some restaurants serve). The shrimp was so crispy and flavorful although a bit tough but still delicious!!! Those hush puppies were tender and flavorful. The green beans were very tasty-smokey flavored and perfectly cooked. The coleslaw was fresh, crispy and very tasty! I had a cold Diet Pepsi to wash it all down with. Such a great meal. The person who took our orders was very kind and helpful, it seemed like everyone working there knew their job and they all worked together very smoothly. We ordered food for pick up. The staff were rude. There was a terrible encounter with a prospective employee who had an interview at one o'clock. The man was early for his job interview as any good new employee would be. The person who greeted him was rude and told him to come back. Than proceeded to chase home to have his interview over speakerphone in the dining area for all to hear. The food took 45 minutes to get and the staff were all obnoxious and rude to every customer. One young gentleman with a headset on asked what the rest of the staff were doing instead of filling orders. Too bad this store was remodeled. Long John Silver's on Washington Pike was a disappointment. I went a year ago and everything was wonderful and delicious. Yesterday my experience was not good. Perhaps there is a new owner? I arrived at 3 pm on Wednesday 1/24/24. I ordered a platter with 2 pieces of fried fish, 6 pieces of fried shrimp, French fries, Cole slaw, and hush puppies. The French fries and fish were served when I placed my order . The fries were lukewarm and dried up. The fish was not hot and not crispy. Apparently the fish and fries were fried early in the day and just held over. The shrimp was cooked to order and served after I sat down. The shrimp was hot, crispy and good. While I was eating my lunch, some staff members began smoking in the dining room a few feet away from me. It made me gag and so I left. I won't be back. read more

When I was a kid it was a treat for our dad to take us here to eat. I don't know what happened but it seems that the portions shrunk and the food got greasier than I remembered. Place seems like its floors are always slippery with grease and all the table tops are sticky. read more

This was the first time I've been to an LJS in probably 10 years. The last time I went to an LJS myself and friend got food poisoning and ironically that location closed 6-8 months later. Now that I live near another location I decided to give it a try again. I got the sampler and the food was hot and fresh and I only waited a couple of minutes. The store was clean as well. I was here Saturday (13/16), with a companion about 7:15 p.m. we were greeted promptly and warmly,, end of orders taken right away. We ordered a #2 and a #5 platter. I don't know if it was my mistake, but when. Two number two platters., which was on the receipt. I went to the counter, and politely told them I wanted number 5 platter, and that I would pay the difference. They very nicely refused to accept my money, gave me the 6 shrimp, and let me keep the chicken, too. Everything was golden brown, not dripping grease, and my Cole slaw was creamy deliciousness. Even my green beans were decent (not mushy). They had a Christmas tree inside the door, and Christmas lights, Garland, and stockings with employees' names decorating the dining room. Today I got a (free after doing their survey (on receipt) piece of fish and fries. It was a sizeable piece of fish and a good portion of fries. The fish was fresh, flaky, and delicious and was golden brown. Although on the french fries were okay, they would have been much better a bit crispier. The fact that they weren't greasy was great. I tried their tartar sauce, but for me it was pretty bland. Again, the crew was friendly and quick. I wanted to add a crab cake to my meal, but the cashier said that it would take 4 minutes because they're made fresh to order. I'll try those another day. I love LJS, but I had to write a review regarding this particular location. The inside is very dated and appears to be poorly cared for. It smelled like burnt fish when we walked in the door. It took about 15 mins for the food, so I figured it was gonna be all fresh...negative! The fish was old and cold and fries were a very soft. The corn lacked butter. I didn't care for the onion rings and my boyfriend said the Coleslaw tasted spoiled. The chicken planks and hushpuppies were the only things edible. Service wasn't too bad - nice people. Too bad a whole bunch of flies started flying around the dining area and prep area, which ruined my appetite. read more

This is the first time I ever did any type of online review. I had to write this with hopes the health dept gets involved. I have never been in such a filthy place in my life. It smelt like something was rotting inside. There's absolutely nothing clean about this restaurant. The dining room, the food prep area and the bathroom. When I came into the restaurant there was an employee wiping off tables with a dirty rag, then went and served me my food, without stopping to wash his hands. I have to say thou the employees were very nice. I actually feel bad that they are working in such deplorable conditions. Please, please take my advice, do not eat here This place was worse than any disgusting gas station bathroom I've ever been in. I will personally be contacting the health dept. when my wife and i were there about 3 weeks ago, we were told that the heat in the dining room wasnt working correctly. cold air was coming from the vent in the ceiling and the thermostat reading was at 62-63 degrees! our food got cold really fast and so did the both of us. i complained on the survey and within an hour or so the manager called me, apologized and mailed me (3) $5.00 vouchers for our next visit. havent been back yet, but its cold out tonite and their heat better be on or its the last time we will dine there. read more

I tried a piece of my kid's chicken (I only ever get the fish for myself) and was pleasantly surprised to find white breast meat (same chicken texture as chick fil a). Do not eat here. The last time I did about a month ago it was really nasty. I sat inside by the window close to the drive through lane. There was a swarm of flying ants in the inside of the window. I moved to a middle table. The back legs on the chair were broken and it was falling over. I can't believe no one has fallen out of it. The wood beneath the trash cans is rotten all the way through. The whole inside is a complete disgusting mess. I assume most people use the drive through so they never see inside.
