Fortunately, the majority of the staff are great, helpful, friendly and even have conversations on mutual recommendations. Also, credit must be given to one individual who has made up for an incident that goes beyond terrible service to neglectful, but the manager took care of that and he has proven to be more hospitable. They always encourage me to try out equipment that they truly think I'll dig. I just refuse to take advantage of their generous nature unless I'm able to make an actual purchase. I have made some exceptions however. I do wish their return policy wasn't so tight, but it's a simple case of "People ruining thing's for everybody else" that have compelled them do so. Great conversations, great prices. Anybody who is criticizing their price range I am compelled to ask where are you finding better? (Aside from one store that specializes in USED gear) Money's tight our economy is in shambles and these guys are doing the very best that they can to keep their stock affordable. I always say, these guys are my hombre's AND I HAVE NEVER USED THAT TERM IN MY LIFE!

We were able to touch and play anything we wanted and the store employee Rob was out of this world helpful. He seemed to genuinely care about the instruments and the people he sold them to. He showed my son a few tricks for his newly purchased mandolin and he even made sure it was tuned perfectly for us before we left. We had such a good experience in this place, we made sure to visit it twice while we were in Ottawa. If you're an officionado of music, this is the place to go!!! If we ever come back to Ottawa, we will definitely come back here.

My child was just 4 at the time and they made sure that the violin was the right size and took all precautions during covid. Because of her age and the small size of the instrument (1/10) we went with renting - she is now 6 and isn't big enough to go up in size just yet. At another point we needed to get a new bow because of an unfortunate accident and they were so helpful. While their rental rate is a bit more than some of the other music stores, it is worth it knowing that our daughter will always have the right size as all staff are fully experienced with stringed instruments. They also have cellos, violas, and basses for rent and sale; offer restoration/repair; music stands; music books; and all the other accessories you might need. The nice thing is that they do have the very small sizes, including the 1/32, I believe. Her ensemble instructor has also recommended going to this place. I completely recommend going to The Sound Post, especially if just starting out.

They made sure to advise me of everything I needed to know regarding the piano and even made sure that the movers were advised of the situation. This worked out beautifully as the movers called ahead to make sure the coast was clear (i.e. my daughter was out of the house). They had the piano installed and were gone before she returned so it was a complete shock to her to see the baby grand sitting in her living room. Needless to say, she is overjoyed and so am I. Many thanks to Lili and Kim at Ottawa Pianos and also to the lads at McConville Movers! Mission accomplished!

I looked up "drum set tuning" and I clicked on the first website that caught my eye. I was very lucky. Mike McNeil came over and tuned out set, answered all our questions, told us what we might need going forward and gave my daughter a drum lesson as well. He worked very hard. He stayed for over 3 hours tuning, fixing the heights and offering advice. We were very pleased and my daughter was very happy. He takes his job very seriously. I highly recommend this young musician who also has a music degree from my alma mater UofO.

We also cover rudiments, grooves, music reading, odd time signatures, fills, time, many musical/drumming concepts & playing along to songs. Much of the lesson material for novice to intermediate level (& some advanced/professional material) is provided by me free of charge (files sent by email). There are published books to purchase at various points. My online lesson set up has evolved quickly with more improvements to come. My current set up allows me to play along to songs or a metronome in a way that allows you to hear both my drums & the song/metronome. I have 9 mic's on the drums & 1 mic on my voice to greatly enhance the clarity of the sound. This also increases separation between the different parts of the kit to help students better identify what I'm playing. The dedicated vocal microphone mounted to my headphones also allows me to speak & be heard no matter what angle I'm facing & allows me to be heard if I'm speaking while playing something on the drums. I have 5 cameras set up that I can switch between to emphasize a certain part of the kit depending on what I am demonstrating (pedals etc..). Other then the overall volume level which students can control on their end, the specific audio settings/overall mix & the camera angles are controlled by me (students cannot interactively control these on their end).

Apparently, "new" now means "previously displayed, visibly handled, and tastefully pre-tarnished."…read more I purchased a flute at LM Kanata location that was sold to me as "new". Upon closer inspection at home, however, it had obvious discoloration, tarnishing, and signs of handling. It was, in fact, a display instrument--a minor detail the store apparently considered too unimportant to disclose before taking my money. When I returned it, the response was even more impressive. Rather than acknowledge that a visibly tarnished display instrument should not have been sold as new without disclosure, the sales staff were rude and dismissive. A person who introduced himself as the shop's repair technician decided to join the conversation, only to dismiss the visible marks as "just tarnish." How reassuring. Perhaps scratches are "just scratches," dents are "just dents," and honesty is "just optional." There was no meaningful apology, no acceptance of responsibility, and no apparent understanding of why a customer might object to paying the new-instrument price for a handled and tarnished display model. Instead, I was treated as though noticing the condition of the flute was somehow the real problem. I returned it immediately and left. Buying an expensive musical instrument requires trust, and this store managed to lose mine before I played the first note. Very disappointing, thoroughly unprofessional, and an excellent lesson in why customers should inspect the meaning of the word "new" before shopping here.
