I came to get my medications renewed and my pharmacy sent them to be ordered from the office. When I returned to the pharmacy they said they never got a reply. I would call the Dr.s office and it would go to voicemail and I would never hear back. I called quite a few times. I figured they closed or moved. I felt very betrayed at the time. I had to see someone else and then they moved. I recently went on Yelp to find a new doctor and saw that Dr. Chikkala was still at the same place!?? WT? I left another message, again, no response! I drove over there today and only the nurse was there. I told her about all this and said she would have someone get back to me. So Dr. Chikkala's husband (who runs the front) Just now called me. He was very rude to me. He said that because it had been almost 2 years that she was no longer my doctor, (well of course she wasn't). I wanted to go back to see her. He wanted to go round and round about when he "said" he called me back a long time ago and it was ME that never responded. LOL really? I DID call, MANY MANY Times! No one ever got back to me. Very irresponsible for a doctor's office. So, I said I would like to get in to see her. Then he tells me that I have to find another doctor because she won't have any information from the last 2 years?? Well, they can get that information from the last group I was at. He proceeded to then just make up stuff and it got ridiculous. He made no sense, I realized he was just being an ass. I really do not wish to deal with people like that so I will find a new, better, more communicative, and responsive doctor's office.

In Minnesota when I got my INR checked for the dosing of my blood thinner I would get a call with my results within hours. I would wait two or more days sometimes. I don't know if this is her or her nurse. It was too high for me several months after I started seeing her and I was hospitalized for a bleed. Her nurse is not good about calling in refills in a timely manner. Twice she called in the wrong dosage of a medication. When I brought this up with Dr. Nemawarker she dismissed my concern which I did not appreciate since it was a valid complaint. I am now seeing a different doctor.

It's been a whirlwind these past 3 1/2 years, as the long covid activated chronic mono, chronic fatigue syndrome, knocked out my thyroid, and has moved from one organ system to another. Dr. Akhter has helped me put the pieces together, using several different tools, and has helped me feel much better while navigating what has become a chronic condition. Whether or not that will be permanent, no one knows. One of the things I appreciate about his practice is the extra care. Because he's a functional medical doctor, his visits are 30 minutes long, with an initial hour appointment. In that first visit, e were able to go over all my labs from the past few years as well as give him a general overview of my health and concerns. And on follow up visits, he answers all my questions and spends time making sure I understand what's going on and our next steps. My medication philosophy is a good fit with his. I use a mixture of traditional and complementary/alternative medicine and am comfortable using supplements, nutrition, herbs, and medications. I prefer to limit the medications to what is absolutely necessary and to use as much as I need to help my body heal - while also not taking more than I need. He aligns with my approach. I've often seen an alternative medical doctor alongside a GP, which can be expensive. It's so helpful to have one doctor that honors both forms of care. Functional medical doctors, because of the extra care they offer, are typically much more expensive than typical doctors. Dr. Akhter's fees are very reasonable, and labs are billed at cost. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Akhter. I encourage you to give him a try!

It's been almost a month…read moresince I saw Dr. Akhter so I can now speak to my progress, as well as my experience with my first consultation... First, I have been dealing with chronic health issues for two decades and have been to countless specialists of conventional medicine as well other alternative medicine practitioners, never getting much relief and only seeing my symptoms multiply over the years. I found Dr. Akhter because he lives nearby...to be honest, because of my history, I didn't expect much. But I was desperate and don't currently have insurance. I liked that his website was very transparent about cost and that he's an MD that doesn't push pharmaceuticals. The best of both worlds. Both of my consults were telemedicine. Dr. Omar listens really well, is very caring, and answered all my questions. I know quite a bit about my condition, having lived with it so long, and I liked that he respected that. He seems very knowledgeable, but down to earth. Because I was traveling soon, and would be away for a while, he was also very flexible about how I could continue my care abroad. Lastly, but most importantly, I hadn't felt healthy in over 10 plus years, until now. With just a few supplements, Dr. Akhter has allowed me to resume my normal work life with hope and optimism. Told me to not run out of certain meds and to call to request refills or request through my patient portal. Yet, twice now, I have run out of prescription and the refills weren't approved because they wanted to do a 15 minute tele-health medicine check up first. So- just seems counterintuitive to tell a patient that they will not let them run out of refills, yet not approve refills u til a 15 minute check in is done- even after having 3-4 appointments since May?
