I met Mark, who walked me through all my questions about buying my first gun. My interests are looking for home defense and target shooting, as well as getting comfortable with gun ownership and my second amendment rights. Other than owning a BB gun when I was a child, this will be considered my first real adult gun. I am taking great pride to study and understand what I am about to purchase. Mark led me through methodically and discussed gun safety. I told him my interests and we looked at them comparing with the other types of pistols. After an hour of discussion, I asked his thoughts about what he would recommend. I agreed that his suggestion after handling the Smith and Wesson .40 caliber which felt like a good weight in my hand as well as the grip. Everyone is different and this one seems to agree with me. The discussion was educational with someone who understands the excitement about purchasing a first gun. I wasn't ready to buy, but now I know what I am focusing on when heading to the range to try these out. It is my understanding that once you purchase there are no returns. So, I want to be sure. I felt the pricing was fair and near what I am seeing at other sport stores. There was a large enough of a selection to compare the values between a variety of pistols and rifles. I recommend visiting during the week when it's not so busy and the counter has plenty of time to assist with your many questions. Thanks again Mark for your time and assistance last week. Gave me valuable insights into my purchase AND looking forward to gun ownership.

The store has a nice layout, and you can easily find what you're looking for. I met Leslie, who was super helpful and patient. She recommended I spend a few minutes walking around the fitting area to get a good feel of the boot to determine the best fit. I'm in between sizes depending on shoes, brand and design (6-6.5 US Women) and typically wear lightweight socks with all year-round boots. To my surprise the Blundstone Original Chelsea # 510 in size 3 (AU/UK) = 36 EU fit just right. I wore my new boots to Vancouver, and they were comfortable right out of the box, no need to break them in. I signed up for their membership and can't wait go to back to pick up a few more things--overall solid experience.

IME, it is best to get work done after the hunting rush. Wait times get worse the closer you get to fall. Apr through Jul is usually best. I had a pistol Cajunized in the busy season and it took a little over a month. I took one in during mid-Spring, dropped it off at 11, and had it done same day by 4:30. The DA/SA are so much lighter and crisper. I have Cajunized one myself, so I know what is involved. It is surprisingly hard to find gunsmiths with experience Cajunizing, or with CZs in general. I guess it makes sense, they are far less common than Glocks, M&Ps, etc. I have had smiths tell me they do not work on CZs, or they say "we can do that, we'll figure it out," which is not comforting. Each time I came in, the associate at the counter brought me to talk to a gunsmith. He knew the order the parts go back in, that some jobs like the mag release are easier when everything is already apart, and that you have to remove the front sight pin to replace the barrel bushing. The sear cage is a nightmare to get back together, so I'm happy to outsource it.
