I really don't get the recent low ratings but we really enjoyed everything about this place. If you are connected with me on yelp and live in town, I challenge you give them a try. I was very happy. Was staying in downtown Houston and looking for a quick lunch spot...and stumbles across Lone Star Taco a few blocks from my hotel. They have a wide election of tacos, a few burritos and nachos. I opted for a couple of tacos from the all day breakfast menu...went with egg bacon and cheese and jalapeño cheese sausage, egg and cheese. Both were good but the sausage was exceptional. Came here for the first time to grab a quick bite with some tacos to-go. I ordered the Maui Fish and the Alamo. Both were recommended by the staff along with several others. Both tacos were very flavorful and delicious. It was about 6inches long. Overall, still a bit pricey for tacos, but once in a while when you feel like spending a bit more, it's definitely worth it. You have to order at the cashiers and they give you a number so they can deliver your food to the table. Staff are friendly and fast. Restaurant bar is pretty large with quite a bit of tables and chairs. I didn't see any street parking, but I'm sure it has a parking structure in whatever building it's located in. Not as authentic as getting tacos at a taco truck somewhere, but these tacos were great. Asada, pico de gallo, and all of the "homemade sauces" were delicious. Only complaints are that the tacos came on flour tortillas, and also they were a bit pricy. 8 tacos and 1 quesadilla for $52. There's a bar in the same building but alcohol has to be ordered seperate at the bar from the restaurant. It's a nice dining area with plenty of seating. Just walk up and order and they bring your food to you. Friendly staff, clean and enjoyable atmosphere. Not a bad place to come but not authentic like some places. read more

I was forewarned and also found that the tacos are on the greasy side. But the queso is the best I've had in downtown Houston; the queso makes it worth making this spot your cheat day. I ordered the sampler and queso and chips. The sampler comes with a handful of chips and drizzle of queso but it doesn't do it any justice. I say go for the bowl. The sampler includes adorable mini tacos for those of us who can't make up our minds. They don't skimp out on the protein at all and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend the honey chipotle pork and maui fish taco. Okay this space is located on Main Street in downtown close to all the offices, bars, and great places to eat. I used to always go here on my lunch break and it still doesn't disappoint. I got the Laredo Taco which is crispy chicken with black beans and some other ingredients. My friend got the quesadilla and loved it. An average spot for average tacos. I've been here a few times and have yet to really be impressed. My top choice is the Maui Fish taco, but what I've found is that while the flavor is decent, the tacos are greasy & messy to eat. Also, there is not a whole lot of meat included.
