Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday since this place was close to my hotel. I had a chorizo egg and cheese breakfast taco and a potato egg and cheese breakfast taco and they were so good! I was pleasantly full and our food came out really quickly. I'd definitely recommend these tacos for a quick bite! read more

Easy five star review! I noticed some low reviews but that was simply not my experience. Angel was great, his customer service was top notch and the food was great. I really don't get the recent low ratings but we really enjoyed everything about this place. If you are connected with me on yelp and live in town, I challenge you give them a try. I was very happy. Food: the tacos are great! The barbacoa are to die for. The best I've had in downtown. They reminded me of Gerardo's drive in off Patton. It's close to that taco I had to ask if they got it from there. That's a compliment. The breakfast tacos are amazing too. Very happy with the food:m, the service and location. The low reviews do not reflect my experience. Easy 5 stars. They also stay open late and open early. What else could you ask for? Thanks again! I'll be back for taco Tuesday! read more

It's Texas. Make sure the AC works. Nice big corner in a busy section of the hood. Seems to have nice looking drinks. But the AC was a real downer. If it had worked, we'd have stayed. So we got tacos to go. Breakfast served all day yall! read more

Wife and I decided to stop and try the Lone Taco. Inside was nice and laid out well. Staff were great and very friendly. We did breakfast tacos. We had Dallas , Royal flush and chorizo tacos. They were good and each one was on fresh tortilla. My wife said the Chorizo was the best one. Only negative is the ham in one seemed a little old. Worth a stop and try. Remember this is downtown, so the prices are accordingly. read more

Got food to go for in-laws who were tired after a walk around the downtown. Got chicken tacos and dynamite queso. The queso was great, the chips were ok and so were the tacos. The spicy salsa was really nice. Their ambience is great and I wish I had the time to sit down for a margarita, may be next time. Was staying in downtown Houston and looking for a quick lunch spot...and stumbles across Lone Star Taco a few blocks from my hotel. They have a wide election of tacos, a few burritos and nachos. I opted for a couple of tacos from the all day breakfast menu...went with egg bacon and cheese and jalapeño cheese sausage, egg and cheese. Both were good but the sausage was exceptional. Comes with some red and green hot sauce...delish. About $10.50 for 2 tacos , soda and a tip...not a bad deal! read more

The food is good and the sauce is excellent - BUT -this morning, when we asked to get our breakfast taco put in a burrito sized tortilla - NOT with extra filling, just a larger tortilla - we were told the charge would be $12.55 (the same as a beef fajita burrito!). Stopped by for a late evening dinner, Brian greeted us the moment we walked in and also helped us out with the menu. Brian was very knowledgeable and professional. Went here for lunch today. Was told it was going to be a 10 minute wait. Took 40 minutes and I asked if I could get a refund and magically my order was ready. Food was pretty mid. Came here for the first time to grab a quick bite with some tacos to-go. I ordered the Maui Fish and the Alamo. Both were recommended by the staff along with several others. Both tacos were very flavorful and delicious. It was about 6inches long. Overall, still a bit pricey for tacos, but once in a while when you feel like spending a bit more, it's definitely worth it. You have to order at the cashiers and they give you a number so they can deliver your food to the table. Staff are friendly and fast. Restaurant bar is pretty large with quite a bit of tables and chairs. I didn't see any street parking, but I'm sure it has a parking structure in whatever building it's located in. I went to the Lonestar taco on Sunday afternoon. We saw that the ratings were only like 3.4 don't understand because the food was very, very good. If I stay downtown again, that'll be one of my first points to go eat out again I ordered two Barbacoa tacos and one ground beef taco And a breakfast taco with egg, bacon and cheese For all four tacos, I use the homemade flour tortillas We had some guacamole and chips, which would be the best I've had in a long time very well seasoned They have a large menu to pick from I recommend you look at it before you get to the restaurant When you walk in, you had to go to a counter like most fast food places in place your order and then they bring you the food when it's ready They do have a full service bar there with all kinds of TVs showing sporting events I highly recommend this restaurant. Not as authentic as getting tacos at a taco truck somewhere, but these tacos were great. Asada, pico de gallo, and all of the "homemade sauces" were delicious. Only complaints are that the tacos came on flour tortillas, and also they were a bit pricy. 8 tacos and 1 quesadilla for $52. There's a bar in the same building but alcohol has to be ordered seperate at the bar from the restaurant. It's a nice dining area with plenty of seating. Just walk up and order and they bring your food to you. Friendly staff, clean and enjoyable atmosphere. Not a bad place to come but not authentic like some places. read more

Lone Star Taco is located in the middle of downtown Houston. Pop in after you find that long line running out the door at Chipotle across the street. I was forewarned and also found that the tacos are on the greasy side. But the queso is the best I've had in downtown Houston; the queso makes it worth making this spot your cheat day. I ordered the sampler and queso and chips. The sampler comes with a handful of chips and drizzle of queso but it doesn't do it any justice. I say go for the bowl. The sampler includes adorable mini tacos for those of us who can't make up our minds. Looking for a quick bite by the hotel and stumbled upon this spot! Overall really impressed with their selection and full Menu no matter the time of day is great! They also have a bar, but it was 10 am so no drinking for me. The service was quick and friendly, their restroom is in the lobby of the building but not terribly far of a walk. We were walking around the historic district and stumbled upon Lone Star Taco. The server was okay and seemed to be going through the motions. The place was clean, nice looking and we'll lit. We ordered the queso, carol burnet, honey chipotle, egg/cheese/bacon and El Alamo. All were decent but nothing stood out. The tortillas were the highlight and seemed freshly made. Some of the best tacos I've had. For $5/taco may seem pretty expensive but the tacos are much larger than the standard taco and way more filled. They don't skimp out on the protein at all and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend the honey chipotle pork and maui fish taco. We ordered this to go, I thought it did take a bit long for 3 tacos but it was worth the wait considering it's one of the few places that's opened late. The cashier was nice and friendly. Okay this space is located on Main Street in downtown close to all the offices, bars, and great places to eat. I used to always go here on my lunch break and it still doesn't disappoint. I got the Laredo Taco which is crispy chicken with black beans and some other ingredients. My friend got the quesadilla and loved it. The food does not disappoint and is definitely worth it for the price. It's not anything similar to Torchy's or velvet taco they definitely have their own unique taste. read more

An average spot for average tacos. I've been here a few times and have yet to really be impressed. My top choice is the Maui Fish taco, but what I've found is that while the flavor is decent, the tacos are greasy & messy to eat. Also, there is not a whole lot of meat included. I thought the queso was average as it didn't have a strong flavor. If I find myself back here, I might try either their breakfast tacos or quesadillas to see if I have a different experience. read more

The interior is quite small with some tables and an ample late Saturday afternoon crowd. What caught my eye is how the environment is what you might expect to find at a family-run taqueria off the beaten path. Rock en Español blaring from the sound system. Colorful papel picado draped from the ceiling. A framed Mexican flag and several references to the central Mexican municipality of Guanajuato. The intoxicating smell of spice-laced grilled beef wafting through the air. Simply put, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. I glanced at the menu. There are numerous, delicious-sounding items that happen to be wallet-friendly, a bit cheaper than if you were to go to Gringos or Jimmy Changas. According to a mutual, the tacos here are the main draw, but what really caught my attention and appetite was the ramen birria. Mujeres y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), let me proclaim that Tacos Doña Lena turns a noodle dish with origins in Japan and is a known staple in college dorm rooms into a must-try on this part of America's fourth-largest city. Two amazing food cultures unite for a fiery meeting of the minds. Anchored by a rich, tasty consomé that's spicy but not enough to where you need to drink multiple glasses of water, there's a prime mix of ramen noodle, beef birria, cheese, fried egg, rabanos, garbazo, and corn accompanied by cilantro, onions, and a pair of fried tostadas. I was so impressed with how the contents of the ramen blended together. Since it was ramen after all despite the south of the border touchup, I still ate it the traditional way: pick up the noodles and sip the soup.
