It would be nice if it included two sets of dishes, cups and silverware (for 2 people), and wi-fi that actually works.

We have been trying to go camping every New Year's Eve for the last few years. The wagon we stayed in was number 1 and is the closest to the bathroom. It had a king size bed and two bunk beds. There was a heater inside, that worked well, even with freezing temperatures at night. We did take extra covers, but all beds had pillows covers and sheets. They also provided towels for 6 ppl. The bathroom was suppose to be only for the wagon guests, and had a code. We did see other people (not staying in the wagons) using the code and going in. Maybe because more ppl were actually using it, they were not maintained clean. There was trash overflowing. We noticed that it was picked up, but it got bad again pretty quickly. We had a great time there. The location of the wagons is in front of the pond, and is separated from the other camping spots. Very pretty. The resort offers many options for family activities and has a restaurant on site.

This is a good basic resort for a family stay, as there are plenty of things to keep all ages busy…read morefor a while! Other than the roads inside the resort having huge potholes (had to reorganize my RV cabinets and shelves from the rickety bumps), the spots were easy to park in and the length of the parking spot will accommodate large RVs The picnic tables at most of the RV spots need to be replaced! They are made out of wood and have weathered badly, causing the seats to be severely bowed. We were a bit uncertain about the strength of the seats so we didn't use the tables. The "Lodge" had employees available 24 hours a day which is good in case of an emergency, etc. I did ask them about renting a go-cart, as I had my disabled grandmother with me; they promised to call me back about renting a golf cart but after several more calls and visits to the Lodge, nobody ever returned my communication attempts. The little general store is convenient, and it isn't overpriced as one might expect. Be sure to bring what you need, if possible, as the selection is very limited. They carry bait but were sold out both times I checked. Purchases may be charged to your campsite. There is a small gated dog park if you bring along your pooch. I am glad I didn't bring mine, though, as the space needed to be mowed badly and my little 5-pound Toy Pomeranian would have been lost in the weeds. The pond is nice for fishing. Beware of the many turtles; they will chomp on your hooks constantly! Bring your own lanterns for nighttime fishing. If some basic improvements and maintenance were implemented, this RV resort would be better. Check in by 9pm; check out by Noon or pay a $20 late checkout fee. After 2pm, you're paying for another night at the campsite.

Maybe I'm not carved from the same metal as Texans from East Texas. Despite being an avid swimmer, I haven't yet warmed up to the idea of swimming in a lake where alligators have been sighted. But hey, to each their own! I've swam in the ocean many times. Sharks have been spotted there so maybe this is similar!? Just know that you can potentially knock "swimming with alligators" off of your bucket list by swimming at this lovely beach;). This beach park also includes gravel parking and four, nicely spaced shelters with picnic tables and grills, not a bad place to spend an afternoon or evening;)

You will find wildlife everywhere. Including Deer and a wide variety of birds. Take your kids to the playground, fish from the pier or shoreline, kayaks are available. Take a refreshing swim at the swim area! There is also Volleyball, tetherball, grills and bonfire pits! The facilities are clean. Laundry is on site as well. Nice park situated on a small lake. My wife and I were up for the Ennis Bluebonnet trails and…read morecamped for 2 nights. We had a nice campsite near the edge of the lake. It was spring so not too bad with bugs. There was a huge thunderstorm the first night so the ground was really soggy the next day. Our tent did not leak but the next day when the sun was out we unpegged it and turned it over for the bottom and the ground beneath to dry out. We had our dog and she and I did several walks on trails. The park restrooms were fine, they do a great job of keeping them clean. About the only negative thing was the erosion next to where we parked our truck, almost a 10 inch drop off but I see this a lot at Texas state parks. I wish the Texas state government would put more into maintenance.

Purtis Creek State Park has great spots for fishing and hiking. I was hopeful to see a beaver by…read moretheir namesake trail but didn't. The Wolfpen Hike Trails weren't too challenging and I didn't see anyone on the paths.
