They have the largest selection of exotic KitKats I've seen here in Ottawa. They sell bags for $6.99, which depending on the flavour have 9-14 mini bars. They also sell individual bars for $0.99 each. So you can try one before committing to an entire bag. They also have a large selection of Kracie Popin' Cooking' DIY candy kits! They are $5.99-$6.99 which is about half the price of places like Sugar Mountain and Sweet Escape Candy Emporium. Sure, you don't get the nostalgic candy store vibe here, but you save $4-$6 per kit. My little nieces are addicted to these kits, so I've scoured the city for these, lol. If you are a mochi-lover, they have a lot of mochi from Japan. Many grocery stores only carry mochi from Taiwan (and specifically the brand Royal Family), so if you want something different, you can check out the variety here. They sell Wong's Ice Cream (from Toronto)! This brand sells Asian-inspired flavours like Vietnamese Coffee, Thai Milk Tea, and Korean Banana Milk. In addition to ice cream, they sell other frozen goods too, like Korean dumplings, croquettes, and Tteokbokki. They have some bubble tea plushies at the back, as well as those happy/sad reversible octopus plushies. Staff pretty much leave you alone to browse. They were efficient at checkout. They are located in a strip mall. There's free parking in the strip mall parking lot. I definitely recommend checking out Hungry Ninja if you like imported Asian snacks :)

Prices are a bit on the higher end, but that's the premium for rarer items. The place is bright and clean. Staff are laid back and friendly. Like every other store in the Byward Market, there's no parking, so you have to park on the street or in one of the lots/parkades.

Sweet, savoury and possibly things in between! There's a good selection of chips and candies. There's also a lot of drinks and limited edition cereals. What a blast to be in here. They have lots of nostalgic candies and imported candies. And their collection of exotic sodas is impressive. They had Lychee Fanta and Milk Fanta. They also had those sodas that come in really weird flavours like Mustard, Buffalo Wings, and Ranch. I'll pass, thank you very much, lol, especially for $4.95 a bottle, haha. I didn't get any sodas but I might try the Milk Fanta some day when I'm feeling more adventurous, lol. They also have T-shirts and candy-themed socks. I find the mildly inappropriate name funny, haha. Staff let you be to browse, which I appreciated. The decor is fun. They have neon signs all around and a giant lollipop structure near the entrance. I actually find it kinda funny, but for the rest of my review I'll just refer to it as "the store" because I don't want any abuelas upset with me, lol. So the store is a Mexican grocery store. They sell mostly shelf-stable goods, but have a few refrigerated items. They have a good selection of Mexican candies, including 3 different flavours of Pulparindo! They didn't have Extra Hot though :( I love the sweet, sour and spicy flavours of Mexican candies! The candies I looked at all had their "best before" dates in the future, which I liked, and means they have good turnover of merchandise. I find that many international grocery stores have products past their "best before" dates, but I didn't see that at this store. There's a sign in the window that advertises they also sell prepared foods, but no prices. They had lots of dried peppers, and they also had tortillas. Oh and lots of sauces. There are not a lot of Latin American grocery stores in Ottawa, so I'm happy to see this store open up. The store opened in 2021. The owner of the store also owns 2 restaurants nearby: Margarita, and Mona's Taqueria. Staff were friendly and courteous. Street parking only.

There's a selection of dried chilies in the front and a large selection of various items for the pantry. From beans, chilies, spices, coconut milk, hot sauces, etc There's also a bunch of snacks that I've probably never tried. There's a freezer with some nice frozen goods. I like that they offer a few of any kind, without overwhelming the senses, as opposed to having trays and trays of the same things - so that each choice is not special. That's not the case here! The treats are beautifully laid out. I've indicated that the price range is moderate, although one might say it's pricey. These wonderful truffles are in the range of about $2.30 each which is about average for individual quality chocolates like these, and some of them are hand painted. There is nothing else like it in Ottawa: authentic family-owned nut experts... they roast daily (I grew up in Ottawa, and I've never found any one else who roasts cashews in Ottawa...everywhere else they come in from Montreal, and you can really taste the difference. The cashews are double-roasted (what some would call Iranian style)... the best in the world. AND they make cri cri, on site. The cri cri peanuts are second only to Beirut itself. (And they also cri cri almonds!). And then, on top of that, they have the soft authentic Armenian nougat (haven't seen this elsewhere in Ottawa)... Syrian treats, and anise breadsticks from Montreal... and that amazing Turkish floss ... and those little Polish cow candies ... and, and, and ... go find your own treasures! ...well, they are just delightful people, deserving your support. They have a large variety of Jelly Belly flavours, as well as Pez dispensers. They sell Funko Pops, as well as socks with candies printed on them. Their prices are on the higher end, so I wouldn't come to Sugar Mountain to get candy you can easily get elsewhere for cheaper, but for harder to find candies, especially imported ones, their prices are comparable to other stores that sell such items (except for the Asian candies, Asian grocery stores have much better prices). I like to buy British chocolates at Sugar Mountain, like Flake and Curly Wurly. They also have harder to find KitKat flavours, but not the Asian flavours. Recently, they also started carrying those Japanese make your own gummy kits by the company Kracie. They are quite expensive ($10) but so cute. My brother actually bought a Kracie Popin' Cooking' Candy Ramen for his kids to make with me. And it was super fun and they loved it, both the process of making it, and eating it afterwards. This is what started my nieces' love for these kits and now I'm scouring the city for more varieties of these kits, lol. Sugar Mountain is worth checking out if you like candies, especially imported candies. I also love the retro candy store vibe. This location is in the Place d'Orleans Shopping Centre.

I do find this store on the smaller side, and some shelves and candy bins to are bare, potentially due to covid protocols. Everything was laid out nicely and easy to see. Some items are on the pricier side, and some items you can buy for a quarter. Customer service was pleasant and patient with my three year old.
