Total chaos, how a grocery supermarket should be if you want fresh veggies and fruits, come here on…read moreany given day, especially the busy times and you will wonder to yourself, ¨why am I doing this?" you know why, for fresh produce, that is why. I have been coming here for more than a decade and honestly it is not like there is no competition in Crystal mall, there is in the market with multiple vendors, but it seems like this one in the middle is a favorite to most. On any given day you could be lining up past the meat butcher outside just to pay for your grab of the day, but no matter, the women who work the till here are machines, they calculate fast and bag your stuff fast cause they know the next person is waiting to pay and ready to GTFO. If you have the patience, and are willing to venture here like all who know are, you will see way better greens than what you would get at the big supermarket and lower prices. From the assortment of Chinese greens they have, everything is truly fresh, and clean.... you still have to wash your vegetables but what I noticed is that there is not much soil on them here, speaks to the level of care whoever is supplying them these leafy essentials. Near the till they also sell freshly made rice rolls, ready to be taken home and steamed (or pan fried). Even though it looks like chaos, it is actually pretty orderly, and a regular stop for me and the family when home cooking is in order.

Good Neighbour has never been my favourite because of their poor customer service, but I still shop there if they have the most fresh looking produce. I never liked their customer service because the staff is very impatient. I get an angry look if I don't move fast enough, and they seldom use the reusable bag I bring with me, they'd rather use their plastic bags because it takes them an extra second to take the bag from me. Not only do I have to be fast, I also have to be prepared. If I am making a big purchase, or if I am already carrying a lot of items, I need to be ready to pick up my purchase and leave right away because they are waving the next customer forward already. I never had time to put the change back in my wallet, I simply have to grab everything in my hands and leave. But I am giving it a one star today because I feel they were not being honest. I was at the store around 5 p.m. on a Wednesday and it was not busy at all, I did not have to wait in line. I purchased only one item, normally I wouldn't check the bill, but because I wasn't being rushed off today, I did. The sign on the item showed $2.99/lb but I was charged $3.99/lb. I was only two steps away from the till, and I turned around. I only uttered "excuse me, this ..." and the cashier knew right away, she started punching on the till and gave me refund of the different. Her action made me feel that she knowingly overcharged me. It is one thing to be impatient and rude, but another to be dishonest. I will still shop at the store in the former case, but now with this experience I will stop shopping here.

They sell primarily raw fresh meat and a few frozen products as well and the prices are all pretty fair for what it is. They also sell a small handful of non meat products like instant ramen noodles, Bull Head BBQ sauce, a couple of canned items, frozen shrimps, etc. So this definitely is a good place to check out if you want a decent butcher shop for some fresh meat. PS. This place only accepts cash, no credit or debit.

This is one of the big boys of the market that deals in the meat selection. It really does not matter what time of day you are here, it is busy, with line ups for meat, and bones (for their Chinese soups). Nothing is cooked here, it is the raw deal and just another slew of places to spend some time in when you are looking for some necessities of cooking. Also it's not a far walk from the smaller meat market that is just a couple stalls up to compare prices and quality.

I was impressed by their large variety of vegetables including Asian veggies, & some I hadn't even seen before. Their prices are reasonable and look decent. I bought a watermelon which I would avoid. It was mushy on the inside. It's not only at this place but I found it to be the same everywhere. It's because it's overripe. They are located right across from the Richmond Nature Park with free parking out front. They even have shopping carts to lighten the load. A bonus! The place was clean and service was okay. A great place to grab that missing ingredient to create a meal or buy flowers for a special occasion. It's rare to find a market that sells a lot of local produce & fruit. All I can say is support local farmers and businesses!

They sell small plants and herbs for your garden in the back. They also sell huge bags of potatoes in several varieties, onions, hot peppers, Hungarian peppers, dates, eggs, turmeric and more.

Parking is plentiful in the lot in the front (back?) of the building, as well as on the street. The building clearly used to be 3 different businesses, as the layout is really bizarre. There are 3 large "rooms", joined by a corridor. To be honest, this place is probably quite the fire hazard to newcomers. Thank goodness somebody had the sense to stick a large map on the wall. Some doorways between the sections would be nice. With that out of the way, there are 3 sections. Product, meat/aquarium (yes, aquarium), and dried goods. Pricing is in line with other places. The place is quite popular with locals, which tells you everything you need to know. As with other similar businesses, there is a hot food section as well. I picked up some takeout and it was mediocre. Does the job, but nothing special. I imagine this place serves the local market quite well. Wouldn't make a special trip out, but good to know the place exists.
