The produce here isn't fantastic compared with Tim's (where the house sign is a woman holding produce to cover her chest...but no melons). As a plus, Broadway Produce sells loose beans and lentils, including black beans--a bizzarely difficult commodity to locate on West Broadway. Sometimes they are a little dusty. BP compensates for this with slightly cheaper prices.

There are a ton of food options, small shops, drinks, and random entertainment. While walking through, we saw a magician and an acoustic guitar performer. A lot of the shops we stopped at had quick and efficient service, they must be used to the crowds. My only regret was not being able to fit all of the different foods I wanted to try! Now before you go crazy it's not a ladies of the night flesh market but a man's meat heaven. I mean a line of charcuterie cups filled with amazing selections of cured meats to go. Hands down some of the best product placement advertising I've ever witnessed. Ok, for those who love things that previously had faces for your own consumption you'll love this place. Now I didn't grab some of the chorizo bites yet I sure will on my next visit through the Granville market. Everything looked so tasty and wanted it all to get in my belly. My original plan for the day was to checkout the Shipyards in North Van., until I saw a post on instagram for the market. So glad I went. The setup was very similar to many of the markets in the Lower Mainland with many of the usual vendors like A Bread Affair, Gingeraki, and Mukasi Coffee; all very good vendors. I even bought a cold brew ($4) from Mukasi. The only vendor that was new to me were the people selling Tamales, wish I took a pic. They had a huge line and it looked as though people were really into the fresh juice they sell. Tough to really "grade" farmers markets since the vendors tend to change every week. I'm giving it 5 stars because I just love farmers markets and there were enough vendors to make the drive to UBC worth it. It's also a very good alternative to the Trout Lake market which is awesome as well, but finding parking there is a chore. Assuming it's nice next week, I'll probably be back.

The big downside is that they're not a full grocery store, so you need to shop elsewhere as well, but there's a butcher a couple doors down and a little Japanese market half a block away, so you can do all your shopping in a single trip here. The sale prices here are quite good, and the quality of the good fruits and veggies here blows away what you'll find at the big grocery chains (but they do still have rotten stuff, so you'll need to pick through what they have to get the good stuff, just like anywhere else).
