I needed to find some under cabinet light bulbs for my kitchen cabinets. Been having a problem getting these special blubs since my go to lighting store closed down :( Decided to try Logan Electric. Located in Jenkintown on the busy Old York Road, the parking area is only in the back of the stores for the surrounding businesses. Upon trying to enter, you have to ring the bell. The lady said it's so her dog won't run out the store, but I'm pretty sure it's more then that. The lady was waiting on a customer and talking sooooo much that I had to interrupt just to ask if she carried under cabinet lighting. She said yes, so I waited and looked around the store. I noticed that there were no price tags on anything (which is strange). After being there for what seemed an eternity and (clearly overpricing the poor women customer) I had made up my mind that I won't buy anything from this place. Anyway, when she finally looked at the kind of bulb I needed, she didn't have them in stock, but could order them. Saying " Oh, those bulbs are expensive "! I quickly told her they were not and they only cost less than $2 a bulb. I left this store mad and exhausted! She wasted my time and tried to take advantage of me. I saw a few things that I liked enough to buy, but they would never get my business. She can charge whatever she likes with no price tags! I really feel she thinks she is giving great customer service, but she talks way too much! So sorry I didn't get her name, but that's ok because she'll never see me again! P.S. Found the light blubs on Amazon after all that , (less than $12 for 10 blubs). read more

Logan Electric has been in business a long, long time. I used them for the first time recently and they were fantastic. I had inherited three lamps with lovely craftsmanship, likely at least 80+ years old. They were in need of shades and one needed to be rewired for safety. Ivy was a great listener and clearly an expert at her work. She quickly found shades that fit the lamps and look stunning. She considered where the lamps would be placed so that shades would be functional for turning the lamps on and off. I left with two lamps in hand and left the other to he rewired. I received a call when the rewired lamp was ready and was able to pick up the same day. This is not a big box store experience! This is knowledgeable artisans doing great work and getting to know their clients. A gem. read more

I bought a lampshade from Logan Electric. The shade didn't look right on the lamp so I asked to exchange it. The owner said it was a final sale when I called, even though she never mentioned that. The shade was full price. She literally wrote down my card number on paper and ran it 2 weeks later even though I had contacted her to exchange it. She refuses to engage. WORST STORE EVER. read more

I don't write reviews normally, but I have to side with the 0-1 star reviews here. We have an antique wall sconce that the wires decayed in, resulting in shorts and a generally dangerous situation. So we removed the sconce, easy enough, removed the wiring through the narrow and somewhat serpentine tubing. So after we were unsuccessful in fishing new wiring ourselves, we called Logan, despite the horrible reviews. After several days trying to get them to answer the phone, we got the woman (owner?) on the phone, explained the situation and she requested a photo of the sconce. After she viewed the photo she told us they could handle it so we made an appointment for the next week. When we finally got her to answer the door she looked at the sconce and asked where the wiring was. We explained it was rotted and needed help moving new wire through the tubing, just as we had already explained on the phone. She then refused to even show it to her "technician" and said she couldn't (wouldn't) help us. Very frustrating to send a photo, show up for an appointment on HER request, and not even be let in the front door of the shop! I guess at least I'm grateful that my sconce wasn't taken hostage like some of the others in the comments. Avoid this place at all costs! read more

Allow me, dear readers, to offer a opinion somewhat contrary to the others that have been posted. Yes, prices are high. If you want purely mundane work done, you're better off doing it yourself or going elsewhere. However, if you need a repair / replacement that requires expertise and judgment, then you can't go wrong by bringing your lamp to Logan Electric, as indeed I did. Try to get issues of cost out of the way first, to avoid an unpleasant surprise at the end, is all I can advise. read more

The switch to turn on my floor lamp broke. I brought it to Logan Electric to be replaced. They replaced the whole mechanism without telling me about what it would cost - turns out it was more than the lamp was worth - $140. I had expected a charge of about $35 so was stunned. I will never enter that store again. read more

I try to support local businesses. Went into this store to buy a lampshade. Ivy Shore the owner told me that the electric cord was dried out and should be replaced. I did not see it but thought she knew something that I didn't. I asked her how much it would be to do the rewiring and she told me $112.00. Not knowing anything, I told her ok to do this. I also picked out a lampshade. I was told it would be 2 days before I could pick it up. After leaving the store, I called a few other place to see what they would charge to rewire a lamp. I was given a price of $15.00 and they would do it while I wait. When I tried to call Logan to tell them not to do the rewiring, I kept getting a fax machine. I tried to go there, but the parking lot was chained. A day later, I received a call from Ivy that the lamp was ready and that I could pick it up the next day. I stopped at the store that day and told her about the price difference, Her statement to me was that I should have checked it out before telling her to do the work and that the lamp had already been done. Even though it had been worked on in the store, she could not get it for me until the next day. Long story short, I had to pay $112.00+tax to get my lamp back. Of course I did not take the lampshade and now have to find one. They are extraordinarily expensive and I would never go in there again. read more

I normally don't waste my time writing reviews. I wish I had read the other negative reviews before dealing with Ivy Shore. Do yourself a favor and stay away. I don't know how she is still in business the way she treated me and my elderly mother. We had a lamp repaired 18 months ago at Logan Electric that was purchased there many years ago. We were overcharged for the repair, and were never given a receipt and thus cannot submit a claim to be reimbursed from the person who broke the lamp to their insurance company. I've been trying every way I can think of for 18 months to secure a repair receipt from Ivy. I've called many times - usually she doesn't pick up unless I call from someone else's phone and she doesn't recognize the number. I've sent a certified letter that she somehow didn't sign for and claims she never received it. I've tried stopping by to simply pick up a receipt. She is a master at coming up with excuses for getting out of providing a paid customer with a receipt. I've never heard of such a thing. Why won't she give me a receipt - is she hiding something and doesn't want to put in writing how much she charged for a lamp repair (over $600)? I thought about taking her to small claims court, but it seems ridiculous to do that just to get a receipt. Frankly I've wasted too much time on this already. Life's too short and this woman has stolen enough of my time . In hindsight, I never should have agreed to a repair for that much money, but my elderly mother liked her lamp which she had bought from Logan Electric years ago when Ivy's parents ran the shop, and I wanted to keep Mom happy by repairing the lamp. Ivy claimed it was so expensive to repair because it was a high priced artist piece lamp and very expensive to repair. I didn't know where else to take it for repair, so I agreed to promptly pay the outlandish repair cost of $600+ with the promise of a receipt that I could submit to the insurance company of the vendor who was fixing something else at my mother's place when they accidentally broke her lamp. They simply needed a receipt showing the lamp value to justify the high repair cost. Ivy is very elusive, and when I rarely could get her on the phone, she had many excuses why she hadn't gotten back to me and would always promise she would get me the receipt. I always optimistically held out hope that she was being sincere this time, but she always disappointed me. Often she acted annoyed if I tried to pin her down to a timetable implying that I was the one being unreasonable and again tied me up on the phone with her excuses for why she didn't get the receipt to me even though she promised and never fulfilled her promise. My family members cannot believe this situation and tell me to stop wasting my time and forget it. I guess that's how she wins in the end - she wears people down. She may win whatever game she's playing, but she's lost at being a decent human being and treating her customers fairly. I have remained polite and held out writing a review, but am at my wits end. Ivy - if you are reading this and have a conscience, do the right thing and send me a receipt. If you don't - well you have to live with yourself knowing you have treated my mother unfairly and cheated her out of being able to recoup the $600+ repair cost that she paid you. Life is too short to waste my time on you any longer - maybe that was your goal all along - to wear me down and have me give up. Your parents didn't run their business this way. What would they think of how you treated us? I'm surprised you still have a business if this is how you treat your customers. It would cost you nothing to send me the receipt. Where to start... We are a Lighting Manufacturing Company whom have been in business for over 37 years. We worked with Logan Electric.. up until around Christmas 2015. We are still owed around $1000.00 for past orders (all in 2015). Thankfully, we did not send out a couple of orders that were completed, boxed, and ready to be shipped to Logan Electric due to the substantial overdue credit on their account. Ivy Shores, the business owner, is someone who "beats around the bush" when handling her business-to-business relationships. No matter how many times we told her she needs to pay her past-due account charges & re-sent over-due Invoices, she would disregard the statements. Instead of paying us, she would go on to tell us how upset she is at us for not sending her products to her. She also made unnecessary negative remarks about our sales person, which was uncalled for to say the least. Ms. Shores made her reasoning based on how she has a "college degree" and is a honest business professional who keeps promises to her customers. (That is obviously not the case as I have read multiple negative reviews were customers have paid deposits on their "promised" products and never received their products or were returned their deposits.) We are writing this review to forward the warning on to other businesses whom she may try to work with and customers who walk into her store expecting to receive their products that they put deposits on or upright pay for. read more

This place is a complete rip off, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I like to do business locally but was charged $130.00 to replace a socket and cord on a small decorative lamp. When I asked the owner to break down the charges for parts and labor she refused to do so. She offered to remove the new parts so I could take it elsewhere so I agreed, but in the next breath she told me she wasn't able to do that. I called other lamp repair businesses and was told that they would have charged anywhere from $25-$35 for a simple repair like that (wish I had done my homework before going there but like I said I like to support local businesses). I wish I had read other reviews before setting foot in this store. I needed a couple of indoor flood bulbs for my bathroom and went here. Figured I would support local business. I orderd 2 bulbs for $30, and put down a $20 deposit. These bulbs retail for about $18-$20 at home depot. The lady who took my order told me they would be in "end of next week". That was Feb 13. I called mid march, left a message asking for the status, and received no return call. Went to the store today, March 30. They still were not in, and they would not refund my money. Go to Denny Electric in Ambler. I have no idea how this place is still in business. I wish I could give it zero stars. read more

Do yourself a favor and don't even waste your time going in this store. The owner is rude and it takes forever to get your order back. I had to keep calling to find out why there was a delay in the lamp shades I ordered. I needed my lamp for a Christmas Eve party and finally couldn't wait anymore. So she retrofitted it with other shades that weren't as nice and still charged me an arm and a leg. I like to support local businesses but made a big mistake on this one. read more

Ordered bulbs in February. Still waiting (september) after numerous visits and calls to the store. After months of delays, the wrong bulbs came. They (two ladies) are very polite and nice but still waiting for the 'correct' bulbs. Agree with the other reviewer that zero star is more appropriate. read more

This store either has the worst customer service I have ever seen, or they are outright thieves. I ordered 2 light fixtures on Oct. 27, 2007 and paid a $48 deposit. I was told that they would be in in a few days and that I would be called when they were in. I have never received a call from Logan Electric. I have called them repeatedly and was always told that the fixtures were not in yet. On Nov. 28, 2007, I was told that they were "in transit." On Jan. 5, 2008, I went into the store. I was told that the fixtures were not in yet but they would be in in a week (yeah, right!). I said that I wanted to cancel my order and receive a refund of my deposit. If the fixtures really did come in in a week, I would be happy to come in and pay for them. They refused to refund my deposit and kept insisting that the fixtures would be in in a week.
