Plugged in a portable AC during the heatwave and the outlet in the bedroom actually started smoking pretty scary. Electrician got there fast, cut out the wires that had burnt, and put in a heavier-duty outlet instead of a standard one so it could actually handle something that pulls that much power. read more

They took advantage of our lack of knowledge as new homeowners, upsold us (said we needed an entirely new breaker), and then did poor quality work( the breaker is not grounded, among other issues.) Just called to ask for help installing a light fixture on our driveway. I let him know we've received quotes or $80-$100 and he tells me "that's a fair price" before telling me his ballpark is $200-$300. When asked why he'd charge over 2x more if he agrees $80-$100 is a fair price he tells me "I'm just telling you. Let's not ruin each other's Sundays" and then hangs up on me. After calling several electrical companies for a box upgrade and evaluation of outlets in the home we felt most comfortable going with All Star. They had some great online reviews. The technician that originally came out had such a calm demeanor and put us at ease compared to other companies. After the original quote we called them to do the work and they scheduled it at the end of the week. The upgraded panel was a new 40 space and included a surge protector. It was a full day job and they even did the woodwork to cover the panel afterwards. The also included suring up the line to the meter which had been exposed at parts. Other companies wanted to replace the line unnecessarily for thousands of dollars. They also evaluated some house outlets and verified if they were grounded or not, a service other companies wanted to charge $800 for. These guys were overall profession, nice, courteous and did a great job. They were hands down the best and I am so glad we went with them! read more

Pros: Erwin and his partner came out to install a new breaker and fished a new line into the ceiling/wall. They were quick and spot on. Payment for that was what was quoted initially with Mentor when called out first time. When job was done, they suggested adding in a surge protector since I did not have one. For an old house, I thought it was best to do so. A bit more expensive then I thought for the part/service but rather be safe then sorry down the line. Also got a rough quote on another job to install a light fixture/ceiling fan in living room. Sounds reasonable, might have to plan a another time for them to come out and get that done. Cons: Had to cut a few whole for initial project to fish the line through. Figured with pricing as is, they would include patching up the walls where it was done. Not really a big deal on my end but it would of been nice though. What do you think? read more

We were very pleased with All Star. I had called for a quote for a ceiling fan installation, and they honored their quote. The two technicians (one was Erwin) who came out explained what they would be doing before they did it and checked with us when they had questions. They installed the fan well and even patched the wall where they needed to feed the wires through. The area was also left clean, and they gave us quotes for future work. All Star came to replace my smoke detectors. Service seemed nice enough, even though they had to leave for a little while and come back, but then I realized they took all the detectors with all my rechargeable batteries in them. That was probably over $100 worth of batteries, stolen. Then the tech had the nerve to plaster their ugly sticker on my electric box. Without my permission. All Star, these aren't your houses to deface with your advertising. It took my a half-hour to try to get that off, and it still wouldn't all come off. Theft and vandalism = no recommendation. Follow-up: I understand wanting to provide your customer with a way to remember you if they were pleased with your service. The more respectful way to do this is with something like a magnet, which can me removed and moved, if desired. But a sticker? That is very difficult to get off? Whose house do you think this is, buddy? read more

These guys were totally fantastic and I will definitely use them for all my electrical needs from now on. I had three previous electricians try to do my smart switch job and totally screw it up. And because of the previous work, my project had things installed wrong and pretty confusing. Mentor and the All Star team came a day after I called, gave a quote right on the spot, and then started work within the hour. They were patient and explained things to me. And, even though I'm a woman, they listened to me and assumed I knew a little bit about the situation. I really appreciated how kind, patient, and respectful they were throughout the project. They finished the work within a couple hours (one of the previous electricians had taken nearly 10 hours and still didn't get it right). These guys know their stuff and they are great to work with. Mentor and the team was excellent . I had recess lighting installed in my kitchen by Samir and Sigi they both did an excellent job they upgraded my electrical panel and moved an electrical socket. I called them a second time this time Orges and Justin came out to exchange recess lighting in my living room and they changed receptacles in kitchen they installed light fixture in hallway . I needed a garage floodlight to be changed out and decided to go with All Star Electrical, whom I found on Yelp. I reached out with the job description and got a reply within in a few minutes. I asked if we could have someone come out same day because one of the lamps was flashing on and off all night. They were very receptive and said they would have someone out by the end of the day. Sure enough, they showed up as promised. The electrician was a really good guy and made quick work of everything. No mess whatsoever left behind. Update: This business responded with to my review almost instantly, and their response sounds 100% believable (especially given their otherwise high scores). I have changed my rating to four stars. Original Review: It's hard to give anything but one star to a company that shows important business details like "open until 11:30 PM", and a response time of 10 minutes, but yet hasn't replied to my request for a quote for six days. Granted, yes, we had New Years day among those six days, so let's give them a few extra days as well. Still, from allegedly rapid response times to nothing but the sound of crickets for days, is just bad business. A business with a rather prominent presence on Yelp should advise if they're away, or at the very least, have the courtesy to respond with note saying they're very busy right now, or whatever the case may be. I believe all of the positive reviews, and in fact, my Father used this company many years ago, so I suspect that this has to be the exception, not the rule. We bought a new home that was built in the 50s. Mentor came out for the inspection and noted some items that needed replaced but overall said the home was in good shape. I appreciated the honesty. He also found some other concerns that our inspector had missed (non electrical) which I also appreciated.
