We were working in an apartment and opened up the ceiling for access. Brushed against a rats nest of knob and tube and modern electrical and shorted out the overhead lights and breaker kept tripping. They drove out here and cancelled because they couldn't find parking right next my house. There was parking a block away. I watched someone park 1 minute after they called me half a block up my street. All that needed to be done was to replace a couple outlets and to get a quote on some additional work for a later date. They complained to me that I scheduled them to come out when there was construction going on on an adjacent street, not even my street. As if I'm supposed to know when the city is doing construction a block up from my house.... But also, as if that should stop an electrician from just showing up to the job, because they don't want to walk a block with some tools... Edit To Respond To Jeff: There was plenty of available parking if they had spent more than 5 minutes looking. Your guys didn't convey the situation to you accurately. Additionally, they directly blamed me for scheduling the visit during a time that the city was laying pavement, that is when I lost it. If you want an electrician who gives up and blames you because there isn't a convenient parking space then these are the guys for you. read more

Jeff came out to our house to perform a "free" estimate. He took a look around for 15 minutes, then informed my husband that it was just the breaker and that he had fixed it right there and then. He said he'd send a bill, which we figured was fair enough since the problem was fixed, after all. He never indicated a price to either of us before or after the service and we never agreed to any price because none was ever given to us. A few days later we were sent a bill for $175. Somehow, a "free" estimate (as listed right on his Angie's List page) that lasted 15 minutes turned into a $175 service charge. When I emailed him to ask him about the charge and how he got that number, he gave me a step by step (literally--he even told me how many times he walked back and forth between the house and garage) retelling of that 15 minutes. That still didn't explain why he is advertising free estimates as such if they aren't, in fact, free. I informed him that if he had to perform billable work to complete an estimate, then he shouldn't offer them for free. Had he told me upfront that he would need to charge us for testing, I would have asked the price and agreed or passed on the appointment. That is the fair way to do business. In response, Jeff sent me this email [sic throughout quote]: "You know what? Forget it. On me!! I dont want you as a customer. I dont want your money Please dont ever call me again for service. Im happy to fix your problem for free , but i choose to never service you again. Its not worth the aggravation. i never in 30 years have been treated like this. Have a nice day. Jeffrey Shefsky Brandon Electric Inc" It was incredibly unprofessional and downright rude. MY emails were firm, but always polite. I had offered to pay for a portion of the bill since I did think it was fair to pay for fixing the problem. Had he had an explanation for why the bill was so high (travel costs, parts, something like that), I would have paid the whole thing; however, Jeff had no explanation for these costs and instead resorted to throwing a temper tantrum. I took it upon myself to post this email on Facebook yesterday and in less then 24 hours I've had others come to me and tell me that Jeff tried to con them or their friends out of money. So buyer beware--this is not a person you want to do business with. UPDATE: Since posting this review, Jeff has sent me messages through email and Yelp apologizing for his behavior, but I chose not to respond because he seems very unpredictable. As a result, he is now attempting to say that I'm lying, etc. I still have the emails between the 2 of us, as well as a screenshot showing that he advertises on Angie's List for free estimates he is not willing to provide. Nothing I have posted here is untrue in any way. Based on his current behavior I can only assume that his attempts at an apology were only made to make me alter my review and now that he isn't getting his way, he's trying to discredit me. This is not someone you want working on your home. And by the way--the power is out in my garage again so his "fix" was a total waste of 15 minutes anyway. read more

I'm very pleased with my entire experience with Brandon Electric. We needed to upgrade some old wiring in our home, so we gave them a call. Jeff came out on Saturday morning (which was so convenient instead of shifting around the workweek), explained exactly what was needed and gave me an extremely fair price. We also discussed future work that I was considering, knowing it would be a bigger job, and Jeff explained to me that I wouldn't necessarily need all of that, and he explained easier, cheaper alternative work that can be done. A lesser electrician would have seen dollar signs in his eyes. So I instantly got the feeling he was trustworthy too. They came back and did all of the work exactly as expected and the end result is a very clean, professional looking upgrade in our basement. Today I received a call from the owner Jeff and he advised me there was an inadvertent overcharge as he thought 2 GFI/Switchs and bubblecovers were purchased and installed during the Worker's visit. He apologized and said he noticed it when he processed my payment today and reviewed the invoice. His call and response was professional and the right thing to do. Jeff returned my calls in a timely manner and sent someone out to review what started as a replacement for my bathroom exhaust fan. I wanted an upgrade and was told they needed to run another line. Since we had a lot of lines running out of our circuit box I had his company do a full house assessment. We did need a larger box and some of the outlets needed replacing. Although the price for all the work, including the installation of the new fan, was more than we had bargained for, Jeff worked with us to help make it affordable. Five guys came out to do all the work. They were polite, informed us what was happening every step of the way, and cleaned up afterward. The bonus was, because they left the basement door open, my cat got out. Not once but twice. They helped us find her and were great with her :-) I highly recommend them. read more

I was contacted immediately by email and phone to set up a time for Mike to come and evaluate the jobs. Mike arrived promptly, provided a written quote. I accepted and my work was scheduled. New panel installed, troubleshot some receptacles and fixed them, checked two overhead light fixtures and replaced the photocell on my outdoor lamp post.Overhead light fixtures need to be replaced and rewired, Carlos provided me with a written quote and told me to call as soon as I purchase new fixtures. I had the complete opposite experience of the previous commenter. We requested an estimate earlier this week, and one of the staff came out within two days, early in the morning to accommodate our schedule. He did a thorough check on all of the electrical issues in our new house, and explained in detail how each of them could be addressed and quoted what seemed to be fair prices for each. We did not actually make a follow up appointment for work done, because we have a lot of other things going on with our new house at the moment, but we did not receive a bill for the free estimate. We plan to call Brandon Electric in the medium term future when it is time to deal with our electrical issues. read more
