After a full day of brownouts and power failures in my home on a Friday, PECO came out on Saturday to tell me the wires in my meter box were burning and that the box needed replacement right away. I called ITech and spoke to Tony. His calm demeanor and reassurance on the phone was comforting. He gave me the choice of waiting for Monday to do the repairs, or pay the additional emergency charge and have them come out right away. I opted for the right away and was glad I did. Tony plus two others arrived around 4PM and by 7PM everything was replaced and back to normal. Thank god, for iTech and their use of Yelp's request a quote tool. After buying and moving into a condo in Philadelphia, we learned that some of the electrical work was an electrical fire waiting to happen. We needed, what we thought, was a quick fix with a switch and light fixture. An electrician family friend came over to help us out, and was appalled at what he found. Now, I am not an electrician, nor do I really understand most of what is happening, but we were told there were hidden splices, unsafe wiring, and missing grounding from one of our bedrooms. The family friend did not have the materials, or time, to help us with all that needed to be done to make the room safe to live in so we turned off the breaker and sent out a quote request on Yelp. I have to admit this was my first time using the request a quote tool for a home service pro. I love that I was able to send the quote out to multiple electricians at once. iTech got back to me quickly, on a Sunday, and had someone out the next day. They even gave me an option for someone to come same day for a higher fee. We met with the electrician (he was prompt) and he gave us a run down of what we needed and the costs. He provided us with a few different options at a few different price points. They were able to get started right away, which was a huge plus for us. We found the pricing to be pretty standard, maybe a little pricey when we ran it by our electrician friend. The electricians that did the work were Edison and Arde and I have nothing but good things to say about the job! They wore foot protection all through out my house and place plastic down at each work place. I called these guys on a Saturday and they were able to come out on a Monday. They tried to talk me through it on the phone to make sure it wasn't something easily fixed by pushing a button, it wasn't, and I can appreciate that effort to help someone. They actually arrived a little early and went right to work. It was a fairly simple act to replace some dead components and actually came in below the estimate. so these guys are not padding their bills in any way. the only thing that bothered me is that the guy explained in great detail what he was doing. Too much detail I'd say. I called this company and a gentleman name Edison ( spelling) and told him that I had a problem with GFI outlet connected to garbage disposal and light switch, which both, I replaced. He walked me through simple instructions and I appearantly I missed a very simple step which was to turn on the switch to disposal and reset the GFi outlet. We had Itech come out to give us an estimate on numerous projects, the biggest being rewiring to remove some knob and tube we found in the house. Tony came out to provide the initial estimate. He was very thorough and walked us through everything he was seeing and recommending. Company promised to do several things. After a one polite reminder, the company canceled because my building would not let them in because they sent the wrong certificate of insurance. I had to remind them to send the certificate. But it was wrong certificate anyway. The company said it would reschedule. I sent a reminder text. I never heard from them again and hired Gen 3, which was much more professional. Skip itech, and hirer a company that is reliable. Update: In owner's response he mentions many things. But he never told me all of those things. Every step I had to text him reminders to get him to send paperwork etc. When I texted about the reschedule; he didn't reply;. So I gave up on ITech. This was over the course of four days. Whereas, I called Gen 3, within two hours Gen 3 supplied all appropriate paperwork and fixed the two outlets. The facts speak for themselves. My experience with iTech started off pretty well. They were quick to respond and schedule a day/time to provide an estimate of installing an exterior outlet. Once there, they suggested that we replace our existing service (60 amp) and instead run a brand new 200 amp service in order to accomodate the new outlet/overall house electrical demands. This was expected since this is the original service to our 70+ year old house and we've had this on our list of things to do for quite a few years. The quality of work was great! The installation of the board, exterior outlets (I asked for a 220v outlet to be installed along side of the 120v for a heavy duty pressure washer), wiring and wiring routing was very professionally and cleanly done for a VERY fair price. So why the low rating? Well, my experience soured after the poor post work communication. I asked for an estimate on re-wiring my 2nd floor since the wiring is also original to the house. I was told that I would recieve that quote sometime the following week. That never arrived. I waited since I understand that this is a busy time of the year and thought that the quote would arrive maybe the week after that first week had passed. It still never came. I reached out on the original Yelp message thread that I had with Tony to ask for the quote again since it may have slipped his mind due to this busy season. The message was read but not replied to. I finally ended up calling him to ask yet again for the quote and was told that I would receive it by 5:30pm that same day. And guess what? It still never came. I'm not sure if this is his way of saying that he doesn't want the job or what's going on but because of this, I can't recommend them to anyone else. If you have a job that can be completed in a day, they're great to work with. If you have a bigger job that requires multiple days, then I would look elsewhere. I started looking for a quote this morning around 11am and these guys were able to not only come out and give me a quote today but were able do the actual job and finish by 4PM and most importantly for a very fair price. I asked for a quote via Yelp, they responded within 5 mins with a couple questions. They said they'd need to come on site, and I was able to schedule it for the next morning.
