I visited for my first time this week, and it was so-so. I came in a group of three and we each had something different as well as the guacamole and a few mango margaritas. The guac was not everyone's favorite and the food was quite bland. The prices were decent. The margaritas had good flavor, but I nor my friend could taste much tequila. We wondered at one point if they left it out. The waitress was extremely nice, but we had to ask for almost everything. The restaurant itself is quite small and clean. It was very loud which made it hard to hear each other at the table. The restaurant appeared to be a favorite for the college students in the area as they comprised a large percentage of the crowd. read more

Really the only reason I gave a second star was because there was a good crowd. Went there for karaoke last night. The KJ doesn't interact with the singers at all. He plays their song where the singer hears it then comes up to sing quickly. Also, the KJ didn't announce that the show started at 10 or how to sign up so the first singer wasn't until 10:28 when someone walked about and signed up right away. When I finally sang, I went to the middle of the bar because the speakers are faced there (and not by the tv with the lyrics). Security told in the middle of my song to get back to the area by the TV with lyrics. Security was very rude throughout the night. read more

Second visit to LocoMex in the Square in Carrollton. There are many Mexican food options nearby. This is a small hole in the wall joint... and the food is terrific! Only 12 tables, so it will get crowded. Small outdoor patio area right on the Square. Can't beat the atmosphere. I had 3 Fish Tacos. $9. They were stuffed with grilled Talapia and all the fixins you'd expect. Also tried a side Tamale with red sauce. I'm always in the hunt for great Tamales. These did not disappoint. My wife had the Taquitoes which she pronounced were the best ever. The service was friendly, attentive, and prompt. Prices were very fair. Parking is in the Square which can be hit or miss. The place is divey clean (if you know what I mean). Definitely now on my weekly list of great places! read more

I like the pink sombrero but that's about it I ordered a seafood quesadilla and it comes with crab my problem is if it's imitation crab please state that because there could be allergies or even just don't want it and I would of ordered something else. Our first night in town we tried this gem Our waitress was very pleasant and informative when we asked what she would recommend. She told us what the most popular dishes were and we went with Tacos Rancheros. The tacos were filled to the brim with eggs, Mexican sausage, onions and bacon. The tacos came with a side of sauce which our waitress informed us to try only a little on the taco as it is very spicy so you don't ruin the rest of the taco if it wasn't liked. True to test, the sauce was spicy, but delicious. Our waitress also intrigued us with the description of the quac, so we decided to try. It is my favorite quac now. We will be back. read more

I had a pretty good dinner here the other day. I ordered 2 beef tip fried burrito for $7.50, and I must admit, these were the best fried burrito I have had so far! When it comes to the Mexican cuisine, I must admit that I am not too adventurous, and I tend to stick with the same mess: chimichanga or fried burrito- which is ultimately the same! However, what set their dish apart amongst all the others is that they add red peppers in theirs. I found the onions and peppers cooked well-it was still crunchy, and they were not skimpy with the beef tips, which by the way, was seasoned quite well. So in that aspect, I am a fan! Then there are the chips... they were a bit too thin for me... it was so thin that it kept on breaking every time I tried to scoop up some salsa... grrr... and as for the salsa, it was good, just like any other salsa: which can be a good thing or a bad thing. My friend had one of the vegetarian plate, and she was not too impressed with it. She said the dish was an onion-overkill and they were skimpy on the cheese... which is very true since my plate was also lacking on some of the cheesy goodness, and the table next to us had to request for an extra side of cheese... I mean come on... get cheesy with it ok? Oh, the seats were a bit too cramped in there... we tried to get a booth and my friend, who is a skinny girl, found the seats uncomfortable... we opted to sit outside... But! all in all I had a good time. I will definitely give it another try :) read more

Ummm. If I could give zero stars, I would. The food was just disgusting. I ordered breakfast tacos with chorizo (my favorite at most mexican food joints) and they were so salty that they were actually inedible. I love salt, don't get me wrong, I'm usually the one harassing others to add more salt to the tortilla chips, but these tacos were disgusting. I even had one of my friends at the table try a bite and he spit it out and hours later was complaining about the burning after taste. Gross. There just aren't words for how bad it was. At least the waitress believed me and took it off the bill, but then she charged me for a soda and I only ever drank water? I didn't even have the energy to argue at that point as I begrudgingly stole some bites of rice from my friend's plate. SPEAKING of my friend's plate, she had ordered a veggie quesadilla and when it was brought out there was a pool of grease under it. A POOL. When she lifted the top flap of the limp tortilla the veggies inside were black and covered in oil. I don't know if they tried to pan grill these things in lard or what, but it was disgusting. Also, what makes them think that someone ordering a veggie quesadilla would want it to be dripping with oil? Anyway, she could barely eat a quarter of it and afterward complained of a stomach ache. My other friend got a giant frozen margarita (which he says is the only reason he ever goes there) and he enjoyed that, and snacked on the chips like a happy camper as he watched us try and eat the horror that was their food. I'm a city slicker, so I had unfairly low expectations of a Carrollton joint. It turns out you can get pretty decent American-style Mexican food on Adamson Square. Everyone at the table agreed that it had been pretty good and my wife suggested three stars. Star #4 is for selling a frosty mug of draft beer for $1.50, while still carrying tasty mid-priced drafts like Sweetwater 420 and Fat Tire. read more

Loved that this business was located on the downtown square area of Carrollton. I wanted to love the food as well but I did not. The ambiance was casual but all I heard throughout dinner was the clink clank of plastic dishes. The salsa had no heat and the guacamole was bland. Hubby disliked the fish tacos. He said they tasted fishy but both they and the rice had no real flavor. The tacos were okay (I love tacos) but the salsa that I put on top kinda even detracted from that. All on all an "eh" meal. To top it off the water with lemon tasted like the cleaner they used to clean off the table behind us. We won't be back. read more

I think this was the worst service I have ever experienced. Let's start with it was busy. Since we all had worked in the industry for a long time we gave tons of grace simply for that, but we found out every one has a breaking point. Here we go: 1. Table who sat down 15 minutes after us was eating before we had gotten our drink order. 2. Finally get spoken to and are now clearly ready to order our meal as well, that doesn't happen though. Even after saying we are ready to order too. So before the server can run away we insist and go ahead and order. 3. When our order was taken we were already out of chips and salsa. Never to be filled again. 4. We got the wrong cheese dip. So they brought us a new one, but strangely this tasted like the old one with some hot water added to it. Imagine that running down your throat. Chips go with dip right? We had to get up and get some our selves. 5. Drinks finally come just as the strangers that sat 15 minutes after us at the opposite table get up to leave. They come over to comment on how poor our service was and sorry they are for our children. 6. Food comes out lukewarm and you guessed it missing items. Normally you have silverwear, but we didn't get that privilage even after asking several times through out the previous hour of waiting. So I simply went to the dish rack and gor my own. 7. The burrito I ate was no more then low grade beef wrapped in a shell. Disgusting is the nicest word I can use to describe it. There was hardly any chips on the nachos and the lettuce was wilted. The beans were inedible along with the taco. 8. Our 7 year old didn't get his food until about 30 minutes later. How he got it though is impprtant. After we had all finished our food I personally went to the food window and asked for my sons food then carried it over myself. Surprise he could barely eat it. 9. Drink refills, more salsa, napkins..... Nope! 10. I needed a manager at this point. Oh wait there wasn't one they were "on vacation" and the best they could do was take my meal off (I couldn't eat it) and my son's. But as for our friends with us they had to pay full price for the same terrible experience. I wouldn't be paid to go back there. read more

Frozen Margaritas from slushy machine. Tasted great. Chili Poblanos meal...the breading was too egg/omelette tasting and the cheese stuffing too bland. Beans and rice very good. Salsa also very good. Free chips thin and crispy. Pricing was reasonable. My server (Nickolette) was very attentive and quick. I would recommend to my friends. Just a Servsafe note...the female bartender, serving food and making all drinks, brushed back her hair an average of once every 90 seconds...never ever washing her hands. Loco Max is the worst restaurant ever. I thought I had left my purse there 5-14-19 while passing through and stopped to eat. I called today when they opened at 11am est and told waitress about possibility of leaving my purse there. she said there was NO MANAGER on duty..really? she said she would text a manager and call me back. never called back..so I did find my purse at home and i was calling to let them know...and she continued to talk over me..would NOT listen to me and I couldn't tell her I had found my purse. she yelled on the phone to NOT CALL THEM BACK. Have been many times but it's gone just nasty! The chips were stale, salsa had chip debris in it before we used it, brought more... probably good that service was so slow. Table hadn't been cleaned good enough but they came back and rewiped. We decided not to eat because our server was so obviously sick, sneezing and coughing. The longer we sat the more we realized how bad it was- not clean, sick server, sticky table and seat, bathroom was beyond dirty... Drank our margs and hoped the tequila killed the germs. Come on dudes, we need good CLEAN edible Mex in town!! Wish we had checked the health inspection date- there's no cause for being filthy, reserving leftover salsa, or having staff spreading the flu!!! read more

I've ate at this place twice, because every place deserves a second chance. However, the food was highly disappointing each time. I ordered a veggie quesadilla the first time. It's a really easy dish, but I think a 5 year old could have done a better job. They're extremely conservative on the cheese. The second time I ate there I ordered from the lunch menu. The order came with a soft taco, chili relleno, and rice and beans. The soft taco meat was super salty, the relleno was just a giant meatball, the beans were the best thing on the plate. Yuck! We ordered the carne asada, the meat tasted like it was rotten and like they forgot to season it! The chips, yes they were replaced often, but they were not good chips. Tried this restaurant for the first time for Delta Sky miles and it was one the better Mexican restaurants I have been to the area. It had a great atmosphere and it's pretty cool being in the square. I had the chicken and shrimp fajitas for lunch and they were excellent with perfect seasoning. Also had the their cheese dip which was very flavorful. The waitress was very friendly and helpful explaining things on the menu. Definitely will come by again. read more
