I called Coast Locksmith (Semko) when I, along with my wife and newborn, was locked out of my home and needed to get past the deadbolt. Since Semko is conveniently located near my home in Irvine, he arrived in less than 15 min and began working immediately - even requiring me to show proof that we were entering my home. Since I had an older deadbolt, I decided to upgrade to an electronic keypad - he waited while I drove to Lowes to purchase the lock, and installed it in about 20 min. The install required him to widen the holes and that was not an issue. Best thing is that his prices were very competitive and I feel like I got excellent service and value for what I paid. Semko came to me from a referral from another locksmith, who didn't do the kind of repair I needed. I had a problem with my sliding glass door locking mechanism...I didn't know if it was the actual lock or what. The first locksmith assured me it wasn't my actual lock and it was working fine. It was the mechanism with the latch. So he called Semko and gave him all the info. Within 1 hr, Semko called me and came by about 2 hrs later. He was able to replace the lock mechanism and do some adjustments to the door so it works better, also gave me some ideas to make my dog door attachment more secure. Price was reasonable. Semko replaced a very old lock on our house security door yesterday. He spent a great deal of time two weeks trying to find the exact replacement in case the orignal couldn't be fixed, which as it turns out, it couldn't (50+ years of daily service and weather had taken it's toll). He was very through in his research and kept me apprised of his findings all the way. Once he finally was able to find what appeared to be a match, more work had to be done since apparently our lock on our security door had also had some custom changes internally to attach it to the wrought iron. He was very patient and diligent and took the time it needed to make the new handle fit and work with the lock (the old one had broken off years ago and we were using vice grips for a handle). He even came out on a Saturday so I wouldn't have to take off work to deal with the lock replacement. We were a little out his normal territory so I was glad he was willing to come. His price was very reasonable and fair given all of the time he had put into finding us a lock that would work and the time he spent at our home making sure everything was done just so and we were happy.
