Jacob was an absolute lifesaver! I called him when my front door wouldn't open at all. After watching 20 YouTube videos and trying to self diagnose everything myself, I finally succumbed. I researched many Locksmiths and found Spirit locksmith to have the most genuine reviews. He was able to come out the same day. That kind of responsiveness is rare, and I was so grateful. So lucky to find Jacob on Yelp. We bought our home and needed to change the locks. He was flexible and was able to come out same day to get the job done. We switched all of the locks but he also fixed and replaced old hardware. He helped me reset the keypad and was patient while I downloaded the new phone app to set up the device and because we didn't get the garage openers from the sellers and weren't sure who had them, he proactively helped us reset the garage opener so we can reprogram when we get replacement openers from our HOA. My 32 year old front door lock with separate deadbolt was started to be very difficult to open. I looked for something at Home Depot but it didn't look like the holes would line up. I checked Yelp for a locksmith and saw the high ratings for Spirit locksmith. When I called Jacob, he asked me about what kind of lock I had and amazingly, he was familiar with that style. He told me what brand would be the most similar and I ordered it. Jacob came today to install it, and although it was a little tricky, the results were fantastic. What do you do when you lock your keys inside the car? Go through an existential crisis of why did you do that, how the hell are you going to get your keys out, and self loathing. Then you gather yourself and figure ish out. Luckily enough, we were able to find Spirit Locksmith very quickly. Needed to have a lock rekeyed and Jacob was HIGHLY recommended on Yelp. We'll, everything everyone said in their comments is very true. Jacob was punctual, very friendly and he got the job done quick, which was perfect since I was just on my lunch break, and needed to get back to work as soon as he finished. He got the job done so quickly, I didn't need to take additional time off I appreciate that!! I also had a deadbolt that needed to be installed, which he did for me and didn't charge me any more than what he had originally quoted for the rekeying. I have used Spirit Lock for multiple jobs, such as rekeying my house when I accidentally lost a set of keys, changing locks that no longer work, changing and adjusting the strike plate on the front door so that the lock would work more smoothly, and most recently when I broke my key in the side gate lock and half of the key was stuck in the lock. Decided to use Spirit Locksmith based on their Google & Yelp Reviews, and I'm glad I did. Jacob replied almost immediately, and was able to fit me in the next day. (he offered a same day appointment, but I was at work) He came on time, and was very professional, efficient, and friendly. My original appointment was to re-key current knobs: but overnight I decided to purchase new knobs and start fresh. I apologized as I sprung this last minute change of plans on Jacob, and he couldn't have been more gracious about it. There was a lock which I had accidentally damaged, and he was able to problem solve and make it work with my door. They either made defective keys or the keys were really hard to use. I chose to go to this location in Irvine and the keys were cut perfectly the first time. I came back to duplicate my house keys and again I got perfectly cut keys. I also got a duplicate car key cut and it worked perfrctly the first time also. That being said, today a record was broken! I would usually see the owner there but this time there were two gentlemen's that seems to be his employees. The guy that came approach me looked like he seen a ghost when I gave him a simple cylinder mailbox type and he was having a hard time finding the key that will even go into the cylinder even though I described the exact type of key that I had and lost. Then the real Ridiculousness started when he told me I would have to leave it with him and there is a $75 minimum charge but they charge by the hour and the rate is $150! I wasn't embarrassed to show how shocked I am specially when they did similar jobs of recreating a key for me on different type of locks that I brought them and the only thing you could tell tell me is that it's sorry that I feel like the price is ridiculous but that's the price. To add insult to injury the guy in the back yelling at me that you will take them time to find the correct key blank and once they find them they have to manually file the key to the lock as if we're in the 1950s. Dyslexia in there I brought them is a simple mailbox type cylinder and the wipers are sticking out accessible you can just grab them with your fingernails and yank them out and make the key according to the size of the wipers it honestly shouldn't take more than 15 minutes but for some reason when I came in I guess they thought they can make me leave it with them at $150 an hour rate and they would tell me once they'll decide it's ready that it's being this many hours and my inflated bill they thought would somehow justify a lock that is $10 at Home Depot brand new. Like I said I've been going there for many years I can't even remember how many dozens of work they've done for me they were never the cheapest or never gave me the feeling that I paid even a fair rate always felt like I'm paying on the expensive side of things but they were close to where I work and it was convenient so I paid I continue to come back and I shut up but not anymore. I am now at a different locksmith place waiting for the lock to have his new keys made as I was told it'll be 10 to 15 minutes to recreate them so I'm waiting on site guess what my quote was $35 for the first key $5 for any additional key blank. I had only one set of keys for both the switch and gas cap. Unfortunately I recently lost my key set. I called several mobile locksmith's in Orange County to have replacement keys made. No one was willing to work on anything older than 2004 and especially not on a 1930 Model A. Finally someone recommended Semko saying he works on classic cars. I called him yesterday and he responded to my home today. It took him over an hour to figure out the locks and generate replacement keys. Semko had to use real locksmithing skills to get the job done. He was also very friendly and took the time to explain how the spring loaded gas cap locks. If you ever need a locksmith, especially for a classic car, Semko is your man.
