I have very happily relied on Darren Mann at Yaletown Plumbing since 2014. He has responded to…read more a wide variety of our plumbing needs at the condo over the years, including blocked toilet/ sinks, garburator issues and replacement of hoses. The quality of his service is exceptional and I have found his charges to be very reasonable. Darren is professionally friendly, responsive, on time (or immediately lets you if there might be a short delay). He is very knowledgeable on a variety of plumbing matters and explains things well. Going Beyond the Usual : Darren has gone out of his way to source replacement faucet for our obsolete faucet/challenging bathroom sink set up. Daren has also provided great preventive advice, e.g. noticing a bathroom toilet turn off tap that was at risk of failing- I sincerely wish I had been quicker to employ that advice. One weekend evening in early January, the toilet plugged, overflowed and shut off tap failed (as Darren suggested it might in the future). Yaletown Plumbing isn't open on the weekend. So I had to call the emergency services of different Vancouver plumbing company ( who will not be named here). The result was to pay almost $1000 (which included the most bizarre set of charges for a plumbing job) . Normally this would have cost a few hundred dollars. If Darren mentions or suggest some plumbing matter needs attention, take it to heart. You won't regret it.

I had the plumber come over to clear the build up in the pipes. He also unclogged the bathroom sink for me. As well, I had him look at my garburator. The plumber was very professional and he did not charge extra to having to come downtown.

Melvin helped with the initial investigation. I decided to just replace the toilet as all the bolts were rusted heavily. The installation of the toilet by Melvin was nicely done. Micah came to continue the investigation. Like a detective, he discovered the souce of the leak (a pinhole leak of a copper cold water supply pipe just before a T-junction.) One day for the anticipated first appointment of which nobody showed and no calls or updates to the customer were made and a second day to make up for the lack of plumber on the first day. There were many calls made by us to Milani to find out if they were going to send anybody for time for the time window of 8-12 or if we would be pushed back yet another day. I think if we were not persistent with our side of communication it could have been a third day before we got help. Once we finally had a plumber, Raffy was very pleasant and respectful. He answered all of our questions and gave good advice to avoid future problems as well. Raffy was a pleasure to work with and it's unfortunate the events and lack of communication that led up to him showing up were not so impressive. I guess this is a good company for emergencies but we got shafted from the list for not being a major problem as it seemed.

I called Milani to repair my furnace and was disappointed with the overall experience…read more On the first visit, the technician confirmed there was an issue and performed some troubleshooting, but wasn't able to determine the next steps without consulting technical support. Since support wasn't available at the time, a second appointment had to be scheduled. When the technician returned, additional troubleshooting was done, including time spent consulting with technical support. A diagnosis was eventually provided, but there was no clear or practical repair path presented. Instead, I was advised that replacing the furnace would likely be the best option. My main concern is that I was charged over $600 for the service calls and ultimately ended up in essentially the same position I started in: knowing the furnace had a problem, but without a repair solution. When a company charges by the hour, there needs to be trust that the time spent is moving efficiently toward a resolution. What I found particularly frustrating is that obtaining a quote for a furnace replacement is typically free. After spending more than $600, the outcome was a recommendation to replace the unit, which made the value of the repair visits difficult to justify. I ultimately decided not to proceed with Milani for the replacement because the experience did not leave me confident that I would receive good value for the cost.
