I love it, everyone is informative and makes the store very welcoming. As well at the cats. The only reason I'm not rating 5 stars. Is because the Gun smith area, ONLY because the lack of communication. I had a firearm that was getting parts, tested and tuned. The estimated time that was said the fire arm would be completed was 10 days. The whole time my fire arm was there, I didn't get a SINGLE update on how everything was going and what was needed (if anything) to get it functioning properly. I waited 14 days, gave them a call to see if it was ready for pick up. I was informed they they were having trouble. So I just let it be and waited a whole month and about a week. Till I decided I was just gonna pick it up and take the fire arm elsewhere to get the work done. Because I still didn't get a single notification or update on my fire arm. HOWEVER. When I got there to pick it up, I was told, my firearm has been done....... Again I was never informed or updated on it, no message, no email, no call. Nothing. After picking it up, I went out to see If the fire arm will work as it should... and sure enough... it was ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS. The gunsmiths are GREAT at what they do, no doubt about it. There's just no communication and, I get it. They are a big store, they are popular and have a lot of work on their hands, but a simple update here and there goes a long way!

Restored to be Able to React ~…read more Several Months ago a souvenir of Sand from Jamaica broke in my bag and invaded every crevice of my Kimber. I tried to dust her off and clean the barrel with my gun kit, but didn't do a good job. I stuck my baby in the drawer and after a month or so, sliding the chamber became difficult and you could audibly hear the crunching of the sand. One of my military friends was able to clean her a bit more while scolding me and said to get her professionally cleaned. I searched Google and Jeff's Gun shop popped up near me on De Zavala. As we entered the shop, Jeff's warm smile greeted me first and of course I was proud to see the military and police emblems proudly displayed about. Being a little rusty on my weapon, Jeff Gave me a lesson on my Kimber, as well as, a discussion on the sand in my weapon. ( Sand Not Allowed) slowly downcast eyes.... He promised me that he could restore her to new and get her to the performance she was designed for. I explained that I wanted a weapon with less recoil and he recommended I try Nardis for the "Practice and Purchase" feature. I left my baby in good hands and followed his advice and headed to Nardis. I did in fact purchase a Smith and Wesson that weekend after practicing on several different weapons. Today, I picked up my baby and was amazed at the photos of the rust that invaded my weapon. In her former state, I would not have been confident that she would be able to fire correctly. Jeff took her apart and cleaned every bit of rust and sand from her interior. The care and attention to detail was evident as I slid the chamber back and forth and didn't hear a crunching sound. My baby was clean and restored to her former Glory! Thank you Jeff for taking care of my girl! This Soldier appreciates you and I Promise I'll never let her get that bad again. Staff were present and attentive, and registration process for range was simple and easy to use. The issue I had here was only my experience. First was a random fire sprinkler issue that caused the range to close early. In fairness I was not charged for my shortened range time. My problem was with the lack of honesty of my range ammo. To be clear, I used MAGTECH Steel case, copper jacket, lead projectiles. Not steel core ammo. I was holster certified by the RSO, who was a professional employee, using the same boxes of ammo. Clearly listed on the box, and hiding nothing. Then the issue with the sprinklers happened which I heard from two employees is not the first time. I figured someone a few ranges over shot the dam thing out, which is common with novice shooters. Upon being allowed to reenter the building to check out for the day since they were shutting down, a young, and clearly misinformed employee challenged my ammunition. First he tells me they don't allow steel ammo. I said this ain't steel ammo, it's steel casing. Then he tried to give me his un-grounded, opinion on how "damaging" the cases are to my gun. In respectfully said, no, that's incorrect, I've shot thousands of these for years, judging by his age, longer than a he's been in short pants. lol. Then he says how steel ammo may light unburnt powder in the range, which he might have a point, if I was using STEEL CORE PROJECTILES, which I was not. Next was how "dirty" my "steel ammo" is. This was especially entertaining, as MAGTECH uses the same powder and primer, in their brass ammo as their steel cases. Again, misinformation. Then I politely say, why don't you just take the honest approach bro, and tell me you cant recycle the cases and we can end the conversation. I reload, so I get it. However I was not home and needed cheap training ammo. Honest is best next time. Especially in an industry where 80% of your customers are relying on your employees to educate them and help them make a good self Defense purchase. I'll just go somewhere else, no harm no foul.

Over the years I have bought accessories, firearms, had firearms transferred from online sales to me through them, used their kiosk to purchase and file for a suppressor, and I even used their gun-smithing service for a buffer tube replacement on an AR-15. I live in walking distance which makes going in a breeze and I see some of the staff in the neighborhood from time to time which is always welcome. Just today I entered in the morning right after they opened, was greeted by the friendly and personable staff, instructed as to the process for completing my firearm transfer, paid, and was out and on my way in 15 minutes. To be fair, the shop did make multiple attempts to call me to come pick up the firearm, and I take responsibility for not getting there sooner. It simply wasn't a priority at the time. What I did not realize was that after 60 days, they can sell the firearm if it has not been picked up. They do disclose this policy on their website, so I want to be clear about that. However, because I purchased the firearm elsewhere and only had it shipped to this shop, I never had a reason to visit their website or review their terms and conditions. My biggest disappointment is that during the multiple attempts they made to contact me, no one ever communicated something as simple as, "If you don't pick up your firearm by this date, it will be sold." Had I known that, I obviously would have made picking it up a priority. So they did sell my rifle. So while I acknowledge that they attempted to reach me and that the policy is posted online, I think a much better customer experience would be to clearly communicate the 60-day deadline directly before selling someone's firearm. Just something to be aware of if you're having a firearm transferred here: make sure you understand their pickup policy and don't assume they'll specifically warn you before the deadline.
