I wish I had a better before picture of my frizzy poofy hair bc man did this make a difference! Since it's my first time I'm curious to see how to does with air drying or just blow drying, but I left my appointment obsessed with my hair!! It's so soft! I don't have a great before pic sadly, but I still see a huge difference with just a regular blow dry vs the after.

Uhmmm AMAZING. I…read moreoriginally booked an extension appointment, but due to unforseen circumstances, had to shift that to a color only appointment and hold off on the extensions. While I did mention that to booker, on the day of, Amie didn't know, but was a true pro on the day of, jumped on in, gave me the color I was looking for (which is a HARD color to do and I am PICKY AF -- "not too white, not too yellow, not too ash - somewhere in between - and Amie nailed it), and hung in there until she got it right. She also fixed a bad hair cut I had received prior, blending my bad cut AND prepping my hair for when I CAN come back to get extensions. She did not make short cuts, listened very well about what I wanted, got on the same page super quick, did not cut corners -- she did not let me leave until she was happy with the end result and so was I. It's an amazing space, and Kim and Amie are lovely and very sweet. Getting intensive color or extensions done is a long process (lol I wore my pajamas to be comfy because I know it takes time), and everybody is friendly, make you comfortable, and there is an adorable little four legged guy who says hi while you process. I was so happy with my fixed hair cut, color I love, and everybody is asking where i got it done (and I tell em!). Obvs coming back for everything forever.

I genuinely don't even know where to start because apparently I came in looking for a hairstylist…read moreand accidentally found a person I would now follow across state lines. She is the best. I had been searching for "my person" for years after my previous stylist moved, and I'm probably a little harder to impress than the average person because I grew up in salons and worked in the cosmetic industry for years. I know when someone really knows their craft -- and this girl knows her stuff. I love most is that she actually listens. Like really listens. She'll look at your inspiration, look at your actual hair, and tell you honestly what your hair type and texture can do instead of just saying yes to everything and sending you home wondering why you don't magically have the same head of hair as the person in the Pinterest photo. She works WITH your hair, and that makes such a difference. She was also unbelievably patient with me over several appointments while I slowly worked up the courage to get the haircut I actually wanted. I kept inching toward it like a frightened woodland creature and she never pushed me. She just worked with me until I was ready. And when I finally committed??? Literally the best my hair has ever looked. The cut is so good. So precise. Every piece falls where it's supposed to, she understood exactly how to work with my texture, and somehow my hair just makes sense now. The color I showed her? She formulated it perfectly. And her blowouts are honestly rude because now I know what my hair is capable of looking like and I cannot recreate that magic at home. I would have her blow out my hair every morning if that were a normal and financially responsible thing to do. But beyond how insanely talented she is, she is just an absolute gem of a human. She's funny, sweet, warm, compassionate, adorable, easy to talk to and genuinely so much fun to be around. I literally find myself wanting another haircut just because I want to go hang out with her again -- which is probably not a healthy long-term hair-growth strategy. Finding someone who is incredibly talented at what they do and is just a beautiful person to spend time with is so rare. I'm genuinely grateful she came into my life and I cannot imagine anyone else doing my hair now. So basically, she can never leave Oregon. That's the rule. But if she does, apparently I travel for hair now because I'm going with her. I searched for my stylist for years, and I finally found her. I hope I get to sit in her chair for a very, very long time.

Veronica is the real deal, kids…read more For years I had been following a master loctician on Instagram, located in Sweden. I was so in love with her style I was going to book a flight to her to have her give my locs a major makeover. My hair had become stringy and the locs were gunked up with all kinds of products I was using. I emailed her to discuss my options she told me that she had trained a girl in California and to reach out to her as she had full faith in her ability to achieve the look I was going for. Without hesitation I called Veronica and set up a consultation. We immediately clicked as her demeanor is so relaxed and relatable. During that consultation she noticed right away that my previous loctician had used synthetic hair. Since she does not like to use synthetic hair, she brushed out the old hair and replaced it with 100% real hair and I noticed the difference right away! I would have never known otherwise. She also gave me great information on how to properly take care of my locs, with natural products, eliminating all the crap that I was previously ruining my hair with. Diosa has been my go to girl now for almost 2 years and I wouldn't let anyone else touch my beautiful locs. Her prices are INSANELY REASONABLE, especially considering her extensive training background with one of the best in the world. There's no one like her in the area, I can promise you that!

Veronica flat out refused to wear a mask during our session…read more She asked me to meet her at her house rather than the salon. She pushed back the time the morning of, which was no big deal. I showed up at her home and was greeted at the door with no mask. I stepped in and there were two other people (family/roommates) walking around in a very small space. She pointed at a chair. I asked her if it's possible for people to wear masks and she said no. I told her it was important for me and pointed at my pregnant belly (preg women are considered "high risk"). She gave me a, "Yeah, sorry". I asked her if there was another room we could go into and was told, "Yeah, no sorry." I offered for us to go outside and she looked out the window with a grimace and said "Err, it's kinda cold out. I don't really want to be out there." I told her I didn't really either but could not do this without masks and pointed again at my belly. She said, "Yeah, sorry. You should've mentioned that over the phone." I said I thought it was understood because this was a business transaction. She just shrugged at me. I told her it took me 40 minutes to drive here and she showed me the door. I could not believe how rude she was . This is not a "hangout", I am paying you for a service. And to flat out refuse to wear a mask, not to mention without asking me if I have been sick or anything, is extremely unprofessional. I was scheduled for a 3 hour session and was expected to sit in a room with unknown people walking around with no way to socially distance. Wouldn't even put a mask on herself. I get you are in your own home, but to not be willing to wear a mask at the request of a pregnant lady feels so unkind. I wanted to cry when I got back to my car and regret not telling this woman how rude she was. I was so excited to meet her and get my hair worked on and it was the first time I had booked anything for myself in months. Broke my heart.

This review comes two months after my first appointment with Haircraft By Jo. Following my…read morecut/style/curly hair lesson, I was chomping at the bit to leave a review about how amazing my experience was with Jo- from how understood and 'heard' I felt in my frustration with my inability to embrace my hair with confidence and with the knowledge gained throughout the experience. I sat in her chair, presenting with a chaotic mid-back mess of wave, some curl, and two years hair growth (void of hot tools) and left with more curl and definition than I thought was possible, along with a different level of confidence in what I could achieve post-cut on my own. After thoroughly digesting Jo's advice from our appointment, I did choose to transfer to organic hair products, new-to-me hair ties/headbands, a hair buff for sleeping, as well as washing only once to twice a week. In addition to the perfect tailored cut, the above has definitely made an impact in the positive in terms of definition of curl, scalp health, style manageability, and continued hair growth for me. I am over the moon in love with my hair, and even more so with my routine as it is simple and stress-free. Above all else though, I feel relief and confidence on the daily; I cannot recommend Haircraft by Jo enough!
