Lizz is amazing!!! I haven't done anything with my hair in years, wanted something to make my day to day easier and decided to try Karatin. I wish I had a better before picture of my frizzy poofy hair bc man did this make a difference! Since it's my first time I'm curious to see how to does with air drying or just blow drying, but I left my appointment obsessed with my hair!! It's so soft! I've had two keratin treatments done by Katlyn and I can say she is absolutely stellar at what she does. Naturally my hair is very coarse, wavy, and frizzy. I fell in love with my hair after my first keratin and didn't need to get another one until almost 6 months after! (I wash my hair only once or twice a week). My hair has been growing like a weed!! I think it's because I rarely have to use heat on my hair anymore since the treatment straightens it out for the most part. My hair is extremely curly and frizzy, and it can be particularly difficult to manage in the summer months. I got the keratin treatment, and it came out gorgeous. My curl pattern has turned into loose waves when I wash my hair, and it is very smooth and shiny. It only takes me about 10 minutes to do my hair in the morning, instead of 30. We LOVE Tame + glossy! My daughter and I both have course curly FRIZZY hair. We had our first treatment in December and spent the whole month talking about how we didn't know our hair could be so tame. We could go out in the rain and not have our hair ruined. We can wash and go! This has NEVER been possible. Our hair is healthier and SO much easier to take care of! Kaitlyn is AMAZING! She has chargers for our phones, always offers drinks and is so kind and accommodating. The salon is small and intimate and so comfortable. We love our hair and our time with Kaitlyn. I am a Puerto Rican with equally Caribbean hair (combo of curly with some kink if were labeling maybe 3b-3c range). It is because of this, I have not let anyone in Portland or Vancouver (either Caucasian or POC) touch my hair. I have only ever gone to Puerto Rican or Dominican stylists in my very distant past give me blow outs or some color). I either don't get enough heat during the blow out or way to much that it causes breakage. My hair is on the struggle bus here because of all the misting and rain so I decided to go the keratin route. I have applied this to myself in the past and it took so long but with good results. I decided to forego the diy and started looking for a reputable establishment. All the photos I encountered were of folks that had a slight curl wanting to get rid of that. I wanted to see who could deal with my hair and put in work without killing it entirely. I came across Tame + Glossy. From the beginning to the end of the process, Katlyn was GD gem. Took the time to provide me additional photos of the her work and understood that not all hair types are the same. She had a workstation I could use while she worked on my hair and was so incredibly sweet. My hair looked INCREDIBLE when I left and after my first wash I decided to let it dry naturally over night to see if it was legit. My husband couldn't believe there was no volume. I 1,000% thought I would wake up with an Afro. Not this gal. 10 out of 10 recommend. Also you may get to meet her adorable pup, incredibly supportive hubby, and super sweet father in law. Katlyn is very professional. The Keratin product that she uses is very effective. Her salon is well ventilated but she also offers you a mask to wear during the time of your treatment. I have had cry hair all my life and to finally have the ability to have my hair straight and not frizzy is a blessing, especially living in Portland. The process takes between 2-3 hours so you need to plan the time. The salon is very cute and in a great location. I felt like parking was pretty easy given it was on Division street. I was really impressed with her and her services so I was surprised when I tried to offer her gratuity and she would not take it.
